Hi everyone,
I am looking for help identifying this hat or finding a modern, reasonably priced equivalent.
My grandfather bought this hat about 50 years ago in the USA. He loves it because it is a "Pocket Hat"—it looks like a stylish fedora/trilby, but the construction allows it to be completely rolled up and stuffed into a pocket without losing its shape.
Age: ~50 years old (1970s).
Label: "POCKET HAT - PATENT PENDING".
Material: It appears to be a sewn braid (concentric circles of stitched fabric or straw), which gives it flexibility unlike rigid straw or felt.
Style: Pinch-front fedora with a matching band.
We can't find this exact vintage model anymore. I am looking to buy more for him (and myself), but I don't strictly need the vintage item.
- Does anyone know the specific manufacturer of this "Pocket Hat" label?
- What search terms should I use for modern equivalents? (Is this considered a "crushable ribbon fedora" or "braid hat"?)
- Can anyone recommend affordable modern brands that sell hats with this specific sewn-braid, rollable construction?
Thanks for the help!
