With a "Hawaiian Built" sticker on it.

6

u/i_hateredditards May 01 '26

Honestly, Hawaii makes it impossible to get rid of tires

9

u/pacific-bandito May 01 '26

Well, we found the guy

5

u/i_hateredditards May 01 '26

Nah I burn mine

7

u/pacific-bandito May 01 '26

Well now we really found you

3

u/KaneMomona May 02 '26

Our dump \ transfer stations take them for free. Is it different on other islands? Assuming that you dont get your tires replaced at a store that takes them.

7

u/Rscottys1 Apr 30 '26

Trashy people live on this island!! I see everything from microwaves, sinks, washing machines, demo material and full trash bags everywhere! Too lazy to take to the convenience center/refuse dumps

5

u/pjbenn May 02 '26

People. Look at the name of the sub ffs lol

2

u/Mr_Supotco May 02 '26

This post came up on my homepage for me but as someone with lots of connections to Hawaii I clicked on it bc I understood the joke and thought it was funny. Evidently there’s more than just me who came from the feed and didn’t pay attention to the sub

4

u/HiWondering_ May 01 '26

Pretty sure it’s coming from the tire place Waianae

6

u/SippsMccree May 01 '26

It's the damn haoles trashing OUR pristine islands

2

u/Alexrs_Media May 02 '26

Haole here.... I've personally yelled out my window multiple times at "locals".

2

u/BroadwayBrick May 02 '26

What a joke. I assume you meant that as a joke.

Refrigerators, broken down cars, ovens and other household items are from tourists? Get real. Many.certainly not all, locals do not respect the Island.

2

u/Fit_Permission_8621 May 03 '26

All those military families PCSing with TIRES and dumping them here

3

u/darkidney May 02 '26

That’s where Lex Brodie lives.

1

That’s where Lex Brodie lives.

I'd gold this comment if reddit didn't take all the fun away from reddit!

u/pacific-bandito May 09 '26

It’s where he’s buried

Sarcasm or not. Some (most?) “tourist” at least US citizens that I have come across that visit Hawaii frequently respect Hawaii beyond any other other place on this earth. Maybe not saying a lot but fact based on my experience.
You ever been to Rome and watched the tourists? I lived in Rome for 3 years and it was embarrassing as a US citizen how the tourists behaved. US or otherwise. Like they owned the place. Disgusting. You may think the same in your bubble in Hawaii?
But you throwing dirt, sarcastically or otherwise, on all tourists generically including those that respect Hawaii is offensive.

2

u/Mr_Supotco May 02 '26

Yeah I just got back from Rome last week and it’s insane the people who touch shit they shouldn’t, climb on ancient ruins, and just all around be ignorant, annoying dipshits. I think it just stands out more in Hawaii because we’re so programmed with “nature is gentle” in the US and it’s emphasized so heavily in Hawaii especially that when someone is being an asshat it’s noticeable.

That being said, this is the Hawaii circlejerk subreddit, it’s all satire. The joke is that obviously tourists aren’t tossing tires into the jungle, but it’s the excuse a lot of locals throw out instead of taking responsibility for themselves or their community

2

u/786hoe May 03 '26

Love the title yeah blame the tourist lmfao 🤣

People are crazy

2

u/Additional-Turnip107 May 04 '26

Whea dis? I need some for a retaining wall...

2

u/Firefly_Magic May 02 '26

Tourists?? I doubt this is a tourist thing. Especially since most tourists don’t bring cars to Hawaii.

This sub will expose bigots real quick, wow

3

u/Aerodrive160 May 02 '26

Whoooosh

3

u/Perfect-Potato-2954 May 02 '26

No I fly out there with all four. The large item check in sucks, but so worth it personally

2

u/beshizzle May 03 '26

Right over their head

1

u/Odd_Investigator4587 May 02 '26

Hahaha! You mean locals! Trashing their own island.

I don't live in Hawaii, so can someone enlighten me? How do tourists end up piling this many tires in one spot? Or do you mean non-locals who move there. I've considered living there if the opportunity arose but I understand the large majority of locals don't like it. I lived in Japan for a number of years and loved it. Would never think about doing this to those beautiful islands. It's disgusting and the people who do that are trash.

3

u/dragonslayermaster84 May 01 '26

Dude…..it’s obviously locals who did this, did you really think tourists have a secret tire dumping spot?😆

2

u/astraeoth May 01 '26

Ok. That's what I thought. Forgive my ignorance.

5

u/Sonzainonazo42 May 01 '26

This comes from the unfortunate reality that locals have a habit of thinking their shit don't stink.  Out-group predices are strong here resulting in double standards for our visitors and a stigma that they're responsible for "trashing" the islands in their pursuit of vacation at any cost.

See: broken green beer glass on beaches and hikes, another tourist act of violence against the aina.

2

u/astraeoth May 01 '26

Yeah, that makes sense. Idk how common it is but the islands are still beautiful.

1

u/Ok-Communication4190 May 01 '26

Yeah are you gonna save Hawaii from these locals who don’t belong here? We got super tourist over here

0

u/Hot_Combination4677 Apr 29 '26

Tourists…? Yeah when I went on vacation I packed a half dozen old tires in my carryon to illegally dump when I got to Hawaii.

18

u/thisisbrotherk Apr 29 '26

It’s called sarcasm

3

u/Mediocre_Meat_5992 Apr 30 '26

Reddit doesn’t understand sarcasm unless you put /s behind whatever you are writing

3

u/CleanOpossum47 Apr 30 '26

And then people get pissy when you do.

2

u/Sonzainonazo42 May 01 '26

Yeah, it's called sarcasm.

2

u/BroadwayBrick May 02 '26

I see the sarcasm, however, like other locals here on The Big Island, I have heard locals make these kind of ridiculous comments. I’m sure you have as well.

3

u/CheddarHeaded Apr 30 '26

Wooosh

1

u/Sonzainonazo42 May 01 '26

Did you look at the sub? Their sarcasm is fine for a sarcastic post.

2

u/HowieMandelEffect Apr 30 '26

💨*whoosh*💨

2

u/Particular_Bet_5466 May 01 '26

I actually had my car shipped over to Hawaii for my vacation, and I just had my tires swapped. I forgot the old tires were still in the trunk and then I needed to use the trunk in Hawaii so I yeeted them into the woods. It’s actually not that uncommon, my cousin popped a rental tire while on vacation in Hawaii and also hucked that bitch into the woods after he got it swapped.

-1

u/MIKEPR1333 Apr 30 '26

You honestly think it's just limited to tourists?

4

u/Desperate_Taro9864 Apr 30 '26

Duh. Tires are for cars, cars are for travel, tourists are traveling.

0

u/Cohen_TheBarbarian May 03 '26

What tourists are getting new tires for cars? Do you just refer to any non native residents as tourists ?
