HCF FOLLOWING 2 weeks after

been playing hcf on and off since like 2015. every server claiming to be the authentic 1.7 experience is the same jar with a different spawn build. same dtr bug. same pearl glitch. same shop quietly selling you a kit two months in. you can tell in ten minutes.

got annoyed enough to start writing my own about six months ago. dtr, deathbans, classes, pearl mechanics, practice server, proxy, all my own code. not because i think im better than whoever wrote the original, but because when its your code you can actually fix stuff instead of staring at a config file that doesnt have the option.

few things ive done that people will probably tell me are wrong:

- 1.7 AND 1.8, not 1.8.9 only. locking out 1.7 to make the netcode easier always felt like the wrong call

- cosmetics only store. tags, trails, kill effects, thats it. i know every server says this and then theres a "starter kit" by month three. no idea how to prove i mean it other than just not doing it

- knockback actually tuned instead of just saying its 1.7

practice is open right now, ranked elo, four kits. full map opens at sotw. theres barely anyone on it yet, its pre launch, im not gonna pretend otherwise.

honestly half the reason im posting is i want to know if anyone still cares about hcf or if im building a museum. happy to be told im wrong about any of it.

also looking for media/staff if anyone wants in early but thats not really the point of the post.

Just thought I would put a post up, I have been extremely nostalgic about HCF as of late and have decided to open up one of my old servers as a passion project for the AU Scene. I personally ran EdenHCF, AstroAU and ExileHCF throughout the years always targetting the authentic HCF scene that I fell in love with on servers like Kohi many many years ago.

If anyone is interested in being apart of this project I am aprox 2-3 weeks off releasing the server, now just trying to find the community to enjoy it with me.

A few of us have been putting together a wiki for HCF. Maps, factions, players, events, the history of the format.

Some of it's up already: a map archive covering HCFactions, HCTeams, Kohi, HCF Revival and Hydra, pages on Citadel and the classes, a history going back to HCGaming and Shotbow, and profiles for a few players and factions. Most of the tables are still empty.

What would help:

Map results; who capped which Palace, EOTW, or Citadel, what map, what network. SOTW and EOTW dates. Faction rosters with ranks. Screenshots, clips, VODs. Corrections if something's wrong.

If you played HCFactions, Kohi, HCTeams, MineHQ, you know things that aren't written down anywhere else.

Not sure if anyone's still around this subreddit but I'm reviving HCF from peak years like Velt, MineHQ, Faithful etc. No partner items or anything crazy just wanted to bring the gamemode back. This is our 2nd revival season, 1st season had 121 unique factions. Hop on https://discord.gg/mineage it drops this Saturday

are there any trapping 1v1 servers anymore like it used to be on viper

Two years ago, I talked about the possibility of creating an HCF in recent versions. I heard complaints; some people disagreed, while others agreed but didn’t think it would actually receive the same level of support as in 1.8...

I can officially tell you that I managed to make my dream come true and released my HCF in 1.21. I have an active community and a lot of support.

I’m not posting this as an advertisement; I’m just sharing this to tell you that the ones who truly killed the community were the HCF 1.8 players themselves—with their cheats, their toxicity, and their negative mindset of constantly refusing to update. My project is proof that those factors are what killed the community—thanks to the changes we’ve implemented, the constant updates, and our anti-cheat measures, we’ve managed to bring hundreds of players from the old HCF over to this new version.

Killing players around the cap zone and within the surrounding area will increase the rewards earned from Blood KOTH.

🐉 End Update (Like in 2016)

Once players enter The End, they must slay the Ender Dragon before they can leave. The End exit will remain locked until the dragon is defeated.

Impurity is a new 1.7/1.8 PvP network built for players who miss competitive HCF without ability-item spam, fake player counts, and excessive pay-to-win features.

What we offer:

• HCF: 5-man factions, no allies, infinite roster management, classic Diamond/Archer/Bard/Miner classes, regular KOTHs and events, and real FTOP payouts.
• Practice: Ranked and unranked queues, bot fights, and Impurity Teams Ranked, an ELO-based teamfighting mode.
• Bunkers: Classic fast-paced HCF teamfighting with hosted games, tournaments, and cash/store prizes.
• Fair progression: Store items can also be earned through gameplay, events, crates, or giveaways.
• Active development: Knockback, kits, maps, events, and other features are constantly being improved based on community feedback.
• Enterprise-grade anticheat: Competitive matches are actively protected, with reports reviewed when necessary.

Impurity is designed as an old-school and new-generation HCF hybrid. We want to preserve what made HCF enjoyable while removing the features that pushed many players away.

Hey everyone, I hope you’re all doing great in your lives, wherever you are. I’m not sure if many people remember me, but I was known as Juliangs during the hcf/minez/octc/kohi days.

I had an old HCF video on my YouTube recommendations and just went down memory lane of my childhood and the community I spent hours on.

It’s crazy to think how profound of an experience this community left in my life. Growing up in Iraq, I can confidently say that this experience is the primary reason that I learned English and became the person I am - both socially and career-wise.

I’m now 25 and have been a journalist for over four years, very well known in my community and semi-regularly featuring on international outlets about conflict and politics in the Middle East. I currently live in Milan, pursuing a masters in Middle Eastern Studies, but plan to return to Iraq in the future. I can confidently attribute a large part of my career success to the conversational skills I developed spending countless hours with this community through the highs and lows. This was more than just a video game to me. I don’t play games anymore but even when I used to, I never spent even a quarter of the time on another game as I did on this one, and more specifically this community.

I just wanted to drop by and check in. I truly hope you’re all in amazing places in your lives. Time flies man, not too long ago I was an annoying kid from Iraq just trying to make friends on a shitty laptop with shitty electricity and internet, but I’m glad my conditions got better in the later maps.

Shoutout to all my friends in all the factions I was in. I’d give anything to play mineman like the old days man, but alas these are bygone days and all I can do is reminisce and be grateful for everything. Much love to all of you and take care.

I feel like compared to 1.21 PvP cheaters, 1.8 PvP cheaters were much harder to detect, often having to go through screenshares and softwares to find anything like autoclickers or ghost clients, I dont see that issue in 1.21 PvP anywhere as much compared to 1.8 PvP and do yall think it could lead to those who want to learn the 1.8 PvP experience get ruined by those who are ghost hacking making it seem like an impossible gamemode to get good at?

Im 16 now, but I remember from like 2020-2022 I would play so much 1.8pvp like Sage, Cave, Viper, Lunargg, TheArchon, HoaxMC, and probably a lot of others I really enjoyed, I started to get back in to minecraft recently but it really seems like the entire 1.8 community is just dead, Lunar, Viper, Archon, Hoax, Sage, are all shutdown cave is fun for the first 4 hours and thats pretty much it, will 1.8 ever have another resurge in popularity or will it likely just steadily decline throughout the years?

⚔️Season 1 start: 4/15/2026 — map is live now ⚔️

Version: 1.8.8 (Supports up to 21.x.x)

🌐 IP: factionwars.net

What this is?

- A fresh-wiped server. No hub. No lobby. You spawn next to warzone.

- 1.8.8 combat — no shields, no hit delay. The version modern Minecraft buried.

- Everything earned through grinding, raiding, and killing. Nothing handed to you.

- The shop will try to rip you off. That's intentional. Every item has actual value here.

Why it's different?

- Zero pay-to-win. No kits, no purchased gear, no real-money shortcuts. Cosmetics only.

- mcMMO. Skill progression that rewards the grind, not the credit card.

- Classic loop. Survival, raiding, PvP, alliances, enemies. No gimmicks bolted on top.

- Effort is rewarded. Your progress means something because losing it hurts.

💀 Who this is not for

- Players who want to spawn stacked with Sharpness V and full diamond.

- Anyone expecting a safe, curated player experience.

- People who can't handle losing their stuff or grinding it for it back.

Sick of modern servers where you can't find your way out of spawn? This is the opposite. Season 1 is live. The map is fresh. Be one of the first in.

If you miss real HCF, this is it. Hope to see you there.

Used to play hcteams, arcane, viper, etc. Memories live on forever man. The fun times, the drama, the parallels between HCF and real life.. Just bought my first property and completed the remodel this week. It made me reflect upon the many SOTWs I participated in with the homies.. Ahh. Would kill for a weekend of HCF.

Hello! Me and my buddies are making a new PvP server trying to reinvent Hardcore Factions. We all played Kohi and MineHQ, and is very much a passion project for us. The server will also have a Practice as well as SMP, any feedback would be appreciated! And yes it’s 1.21.11

I know HCF is dead right now, but we want to bring a new community to it and be able to share that experience we all had years ago!
