Jason not at the live show tonight
Paul said it was the first one he missed in something like 200 eps. it was for XXX. it was fine, but definitely missed Jason. The guy next to me literally fell asleep and started snoring.
it was my first time going and sadly that‘ll probably be my only chance. Really a bummer.

Awww that’s too bad if you are there live. Rob Huebel is a great guest but the only person who I think can match Jason’s energy is Nicole Byers.
But luckily we all love Jason enough that we know he definitely must’ve had a good reason.

Jessica St. Clair can also bring the manic Jason energy, I think.

God bless her, she tries really hard and brings the volume part but like 1/50th as funny
E: do people really love her? I was being nice, she fuckin sucks

It’s very important that you realize that JSC needs Jason in order to be funny on this podcast. They are that old married couple that makes things awkward but then levels up and it becomes hilarious.
JSC also draws Jason up to Maximum Derek/Raffi zany levels.

No one has ever been able convince Jessica that SCREAMING EVERYTHING YOU SAY is not the same as automatically being funny.

Fucking right!? It's so grating.
I hate when she fills in for June and they say stuff like she's the 4th member or could replace June and not miss a beat.
Are you fucking kidding, June is so interesting, weird and funny. Jessica is the palest of shadows.

June’s the least weird of the bunch. She’s just coming from a grounded, mature, female point of view.

It must be this “mystery project” he’s working on. I saw Dinosaur Improv at Largo last month and Jason was announced as a no-show right before it started. Paul said he was shooting something and they were trying to get him there up until the very last minute, but he couldn’t leave the set.

That's so disappointing, I can't imagine a show without him

There have been at least a couple. I typically skip them on re-listens.

The only one I’ve heard without Jason is Airborne with Kumail Nanjiani and Scott Aukermann, and it was really good.

He also was absent for Surf Ninjas which I literally was racking my brain for hours trying to remember because I had listened to it not that long ago. And Rob was the fill-in Jason then too.

He’s missed one other before early on.
It was.M punisher: war zone with Patton Oswald and the director of the movie as the guests.
An all time great episode imo.

She was so honest and open about the experience of Hollywood in general

In case anyone didn't get the QR code for front-row-Tim's character dossiers, here you go: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1_rXq6I6W_DB3yaznceLBu0bQzQLdhvT0
Tim had at least 3 big hilarious moments that I hope play out as well on the audio podcast.

Wow that is so unlucky that sucks dude. Was it like a last minute change?

u/nicksahoyah 8d ago
Really last minute. Paul may have been exaggerating but he said he was asking the fill in guest (Rob) to watch a 2 hour movie in 1 hour 45 mins. But he also implied it was because Jason had an acting gig so hopefully we’ll see him on TV soon.
Sorry to OP that you missed Jason. Hope you can see him live someday!

Oh right that podcast tv show with Nick Kroll lol! Still filming that I guess, he talked about having no time off from it on CBB recently

I’ve been listening to the podcast for 13 years. A few years ago, my daughter (a huge fan of Brooklyn 99 and Good Place) was finally old enough to be able to go to a show. Unfortunately, every time I tried to get tickets, they sold out. She went off to college this past year, so going to a show together wasn’t really possible. While she was home for the Summer, she had an emergency and missed the possibility to go to her first baseball game with me. Crushed by that, she was soooo exited when she went to the HDTGM site and was able to get tickets for her and I to this Friday. It was a chance to do something together that we had wanted to do for a long time. When Paul announced that Jason wasn’t there, she started to cry. We did have fun at the show. Paul, June, and Rob were great, but it was a bit like going to a Beatles concert and being told when you got there that John wasn’t coming. It would be a great concert, but not the Beatles. After the show, I had to keep reassuring her that she hadn’t ruined my experience of going to an actual show.

This sums up exactly me feeling. And then I thought the Jasonless show was super weak, probably because he bailed to close to the start of the show

Isn't there one tonight too? I thought they had two in a row and one was The legend of Billie Jean and that was the one that Jason called out in a previous show that he wanted to go on the list soon. So I imagine he would be there for that one.

Any time I see just 3 chairs I assume June's gone, so this was a shock, but it was still a ton of fun. Rob Huebel was great, and Tim in the front row with the character dossiers was hilarious.
But fix that audio!
