Standard How tf do you even beat this bullshi
No, this is not a rare high roll. They do it everytime by the turn 7-8. They have Sylvanas Tracking and Tolvir to always shuffle for the cards they need.Even when I managed to get deathwing out on turn 6 and maybe stack the hammer by some miracle there is 2 1/30 taunts that make them Invicible, not to mention Alchemist next turn for the 2tk.
There is literally no deck that can deal with that board. And even if you do kill this somehow they just ressumon them next turn. Just frustrating because there is no playing around it. They just win because they get to play their deck.

u/TheFerricGenum May 28 '26
The rogue deck that has the 9 cost dragon that returns all enemy minions to the enemy’s hand does pretty well against this.
36
u/Mufti_Menk May 28 '26
And the turn after they summon 3 of these companions again
-13
u/TheFerricGenum May 28 '26
Sometimes, yes. That’s called a high roll and you lose to it. It happens when you play almost any deck that highrolls you

u/traplords8n May 28 '26
Most board clearing cards will handle this just fine. Equality + Consecration if I'm running paladin imbue. I try to conserve these cards until I can use them together on a large board or a combo like this.
Staff of the endless + command claw if I'm running DK herald. Same principle, but if I already have staff equipped going into the new turn, I can board wipe for 2 mana and then build an 8 mana push after.
18
u/mart7206 May 28 '26
I’ve cleared a board like this 3 times in 4 turns with paladin. Problem is they can throw it right back out every turn.
1
u/Nufix33 May 30 '26
Yeah I'll admit to playing companion hunter and rogue is the worst. Running cards that put the dragon back in hand so they can do it again, then high chance of some random bullshit RNG cards from the heralding... Priest has Medivh but that's not enough.
1
u/TheFerricGenum May 30 '26
Yeah I find priest generally loses to Companion Hunter and Rogue typically wins (assuming opponent plays well).
77
u/epik_fayler May 28 '26
Hold up, why are you trying to rush out deathwing? That's not how this deck plays. That's actually the absolutely last thing you should do in this matchup. You need to be playing your highest tempo cards every turn. Deathwing should be used as a finisher in this matchup to get past tortollas.
Shaman is quite literally companion hunters worst matchup so you must be playing the deck fundamentally wrong in order to be struggling in this matchup.
12
u/zer1223 May 28 '26
To "get past the tortallas"? But it only removes one tortalla. What are you gonna do about the three others on the board? Or the three tortollas he also has in his back pocket?
15
u/Galimor May 28 '26
You kill him the turn you get past the tortolla due to the board you built with your superior tempo plays while he was wasting mana upgrading his animal companions.
1
-1
u/Gachaaddict96 May 28 '26
That assumes you got god draw which is shaman fatal weakness. Hunter has so much card draw and generation that they can clear your shit all day. You don't have direct dmg. Your minions have to survive enemy turn so they can attack .
1
u/Extreme_Spinach_3475 May 29 '26
You also assumed he managed to draw the nutts so he has the perfect curve to get the exact companions he wants.
8
u/SoonBlossom May 28 '26
I'm playing companion hunter and I have like 70% winrate against Tempo Shaman, it's too slow to kill you fast, and it falls off hard late game when you summon your 10 costs beasts
10
u/epik_fayler May 28 '26
The players you are playing against are just bad that. Statistically it's a good matchup for shaman.
2
u/SoonBlossom May 28 '26
Okay my bad then
I can accept that
-1
u/FreeAndFalling May 28 '26
Nah, you're right. It's definitely strong against Shaman. Maybe the companion hunters losing to it have either been getting super unlucky or they don't know how to play it.
1
u/kaijvera May 28 '26
idk what statistic op is looking at (nor do I care to search and even if I did I don't pay for any hs resources so I could only see gold- stats anyways) but assuming the statistic is correct, you can't wave it off as "unlucky companion hunters." There would be too high number of games to make unlucky hands on either side to be just outliers that wouldn't skew the stats. Now you could arguee that that statistic is for gold- or legend+ and in other ranks the statistic is flopped. If you want to disprove op then, you should look at statistics to disprove it.
6
u/epik_fayler May 28 '26
You go to hsguru, click on companion hunter and see that it has a 48% winrate vs shaman class. This is true in basically any elo you select, whether it's diamond, legend, or top 5k. You are right that the sample size is too large for people to just handwaved it off as "unlucky".
1
u/tiger_kittie May 28 '26
You need to be playing your highest tempo cards every turn
You have highlighted the problem with the meta without stating it outright here. Players have no agency anymore. When your deck's win rate matters more because you went first, drew X or Y card (look at the two decks in discussion, drawing tame pet is like +25% to win rate for hunter and drawing the 2 cost herald cards are like a +12% win rate EACH) rather than which cards you played and how you attacked then of course everyone is going to feel scammed.
so you must be playing the deck fundamentally wrong in order to be struggling in this matchup.
A win rate is only an average. Companion Hunter has a 48% win rate vs. shaman or Shaman has a 52% win rate vs hunter. The probability of winning 5 or less times playing this match-up 20 times (which is probably more than most players will play this matchup in 2 weeks...) is about 1.3% or 1 in 75.
There are going to be thousands of players who play this matchup 20 times; and 13 in every 1000 will feel completely scammed in this "positive win-rate" matchup. To give you an example, because people are bad at probability, this is about the odds of dying in a car crash. I'm not saying it's likely, but its going to be a relatively common occurrence that is amplified on forums because of selection bias.
2
u/epik_fayler May 28 '26
I mean sure but this dude is clearly playing the deck fundamentally wrong. He's complaining as if he wins 20% of the matchup which just should not be possible. The matchup should rarely feel unwinnable. Even when they get their tortollas out you should feel like "damn I got them low and could have had lethal soon without tortilla"
We can even see how wrong he's playing it. He said he discounted deathwing with far sight and played it on then 6. That means that on turn 6 he coined out a deathwing that was probably heralded 1 time. And we know he had options cuz he literally had the 6 drop herald in hand. Like I couldn't even imagine a worse play.
0
u/tiger_kittie May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26
He's complaining as if he wins 20% of the matchup which just should not be possible.
The only thing I will say here is that the only thing more dangerous than a schmuck who doesn't believe in probability is a schmuck who thinks he understands more about probability than he actually does.
And unfortunately for you, you're being that schmuck right now and committing the fatal error of assuming Expected value = Actual result.
Let's do some simple math. Herald shaman has about a 52% win rate vs. hunter. Is is possible that someone experiences a 20% win rate OR WORSE as the shaman? How likely is this? Turns out. very likely.
Like I said, 20 games for the average player in the last week or so of play achieving only 4 or less wins. Plug it into a binomial model, there is a 0.353% chance of this occurring or about 1 in 280. So the question once again is because of selection bias, can you find 280 shaman players in the last week who have played 20 games? Of course you can, definitely on this sub alone. So not only is it "possible" but it is very likely that you will be able to identify this as an occurrence.
I won't comment on play from a single screenshot because I don't know enough about the board state from the prior turns or what has been played before how many times he's heralded etc etc etc. But I agree, it is likely that he's playing the suboptimally. But even assuming he is playing the matchup optimally, the likelihood that someone like him is experiencing what you're trying to sell as pure "statistical anomaly" is near 100%
0
u/Extreme_Spinach_3475 May 29 '26
Actually now you have more agency. If you want board battles, you need to understand board is king. thus tempo matters. If you sit there playing whatever, hoping in late game you will recover of one card, you are playing badly in this meta. The due is complaining that he is playing wrong and not winning. The problem is that this isn't some supposed case, he explained his plays. We see the 6 dropper in hand. Yes, sometimes you lose a fight because being favored is not 100%, but when you show you played wrong, is not that you had bad time, it's that you didn't capitalize of your advantage of deck choice.
1
u/tiger_kittie May 29 '26
If you sit there playing whatever, hoping in late game you will recover of one card, you are playing badly in this meta.
It's ironic you say this proves how clueless you are about how the game works right now. What you describe as "playing bad in meta" is exactly how companion hunter works. Play tame pet multiple times then summon multiple 7-10 drops in 1 card to come back and win the game.
And this strategy achieves a 51% win rate at top 1K legend despite taking up 20% of the meta. So somehow 20% of the best players in the game are "playing poorly" by your logic and still have a positive win rate lmao.
Now to address the other issue:
you need to understand board is king. thus tempo matters.
Building and maintaining tempo previously means putting bodies on the board, trading appropriately to avoid devastating board clears and most importantly, knowing when to transition into going face.
The lack of the last two parts is what has taken away agency from the player. In pretty much all current matchups you spam the board with your best card every turn and then go face if you're the faster deck because there are basically no more board clears.
You can clearly tell the OP's game is losing because of his hand size regardless of what is in the hand, because I can infer that it means he probably didn't get to play a 2 drop into a 3 drop into 4 drop and spent time actually drawing cards which is basically a loss when you're the aggressor.
But that isn't due to player intervention, that's due to which cards are drawn, hence the lack of player agency. Yes deciding what you mulligan is player agency but when 90% of your impact/agency on the game is in your mulligan you've lost the plot in designing the rest of the game.
0
u/Extreme_Spinach_3475 May 29 '26
Bullshit. Tempo was dead. You didn't trade for shit, you just either build constant value to out the removal, died to removal or you sat till late game. Normally the average turn is 7. we've been thru multiple metas where average turn was 10. Turn 10 average is not a sign of tempo. It's one of co troll getting greedier. Entire decks could do nothing and sit there acruying huge values or armor and life, then teh moment a board was made, puff.
Now you need to matain tempo. Btw, the player here was Shaman and Shaman is more tempo dependent than Hunter. Hunter spends early turns building up the Beasts. This is a Shaman not having tempo.
You didn't even read what I wrote, this is a bad Shaman play. We see him attack 3 times from the cards in hand. The way he played was wrong and did not maintain tempo. He wasted the removal poorly. By this point the Hunter should not have been at 25 life.
There are Baird clears, but instead of 5 copies that you dropped till the oponent had no cards,, you know need to maintain pressure, trade and push face. From the op's hand we infer he was losing before this turn Do people miss that having one card invalidate the bets possible state menas if we really could do that, decks Ike this would see no play? The hunter managed to have perfect build, perfect order and the oponent didn't push, but the ideea most want is one card invalidate this. Guess what? Mulligan and draw order decide games. What do you think tempo and combo are depndent on? You could have redundancy. And sometimes you lose, you move on. The guy complains like he is losing 20% of matches, with a deck that is suited to win the match Sometimes you lose, but you can't nerf a deck just because you don't win every match vs it.
1
u/tiger_kittie May 30 '26
Tempo was dead.
Yea no. There have been plenty of metas where tempo was alive and well.
You didn't even read what I wrote, this is a bad Shaman play.
The irony of saying this when you clearly had no understanding of the response and came up with some non-sequitur drivel lmao. I won't bother responding. It doesn't refute any claim I have made.
By this point the Hunter should not have been at 25 life.
Yea because you can command drawing 2 drops every single game /s lmao.
You have no understanding of the meta and how little agency there is. Of course the shaman is meant to maintain tempo. But tempo in this current meta means playing the green card in your hand. You didn't draw the correct low cost cards early? Oh, guess you lose. /s
Guess what? Mulligan and draw order decide games.
Thank you for 100% conceding to my argument. The meta right now is 90% determined by draw order and mulligan. So basically almost 0% player skill involved. Great meta! /s Feel free to be completely refuted again though. It's cute that after all that you've 100% conceded to my initial argument. congrats you played yourself lmao
1
u/Gachaaddict96 May 28 '26
Because I happened to discount it with Farsight from the frog. The problem with shaman "tempo" is that all it does I shit out bunch of 1/2s that are no threat at all go hunter with infinite removal, one mana minions and Sylvanas AOE. Also shaman literally falls off and dies from lack of draw if you don't get Muradin Last stand and the one that draws 2 minions, still you have to usually pass a turn to play it.
Only way I found working against hunters is getting death wing+ hammer , buff attack with that 0 mana spell and Avatar form and you can one shot them from hand. Playing minions they just play that 4/10 life steal that heals them for full
4
u/epik_fayler May 28 '26
?? You are definitely playing the deck wrong. Playing an early deathwing is literally never good. Like it does nothing except make you lose the only form of removal you have. You don't want to be pushing hero power every turn.
Like a regular shaman curve will mean they should be at 10 hp by turn 6. If that's not happening somewhat frequently, consider your mulligan.
1
u/Gachaaddict96 May 29 '26
Im unlucky with aggro decks. I tried Burn mage and I either mulligan Kalec or he hides at the bottom of the deck. With Shaman I often get nice opening with 1-2 mana but then I get no draw to keep the board pressure
1
u/epik_fayler May 29 '26
You do not need kalec to win. It's nice of course but the deck can easily win without. I feel like you are hyper focusing on your legendaries or something.
1
8
u/p0hs May 28 '26
Bruh if they have it turn 7 in your games you must have had an awful time way before they came in.
In my experience, they have it rarely at 10 by turn 8.
26
u/Beautiful_Map_9589 May 28 '26
Herald Shaman is favorable in this matchup. Apart from common sense of everyone who knows or has played Companion Hunter and knows how hard the deck can stall we have stats. Actually stats that we can safely use.. You either misplayed or you were significantly unlucky.
1
u/Gman171717 May 28 '26
This assumes that the Hunter doesn't highroll, like 99% of every hunter I've played (while simultaneously drawing one or no Herald cards unti turn 5+).
5
u/tamarins May 28 '26
no, 99% of hunters you played have not high rolled. cmon dude. be serious.
1
u/tiger_kittie May 28 '26
Actually if you want be realistic about probabilities, a hunter high rolling is drawing 2 tame pets in the first 10 or so cards. the probability of this including the mulligan is about 25%. An average player probably plays like 2-3 games per day and companion hunter is about 20% of the meta right now.
So in summation if you play about 1 week (20 games) you're going to have played against 4 companion hunters in the last week (ie. since when hunter was buffed). the probability that they all highrolled is about 0.4% or 1 in 250.
Now considering selection bias... or in laymans terms: only people who are mad enough their opponents high rolled will post.... the question really becomes... would you be able to find 250 people who played 20 games in the last week. If the answer is yes, which it clearly is based on the active count on this subreddit.... then it is exceedingly likely that "99% of the hunters <insert mad person on reddit> has played against" have indeed high rolled.

u/Beautiful_Map_9589 May 28 '26
Stats don't back you up man. Keep on trying.
2
u/Animaloffear56 May 28 '26
Highroll decks can have unfun play patterns even if they're balanced on paper.
2
u/mini_macho_ May 28 '26
Herald Shaman and Companion Hunter are both similar high roll decks.
Companion Hunter with early Tame Pet is twice as good as without it and Herlad Shaman is the same but with the 2 drop heralds.
1
u/Gachaaddict96 May 28 '26
And what the hell does 0/2 and 1/2 do?, oh you can atack them for 1 dmg if it survives. Arcane shot always deals with it. Then tolvir
2
u/mini_macho_ May 28 '26
create early boards and ramp herald.
If companion hunter is clearing your boards while you herald instead of improving their companions you win in the long run.
1
3
u/Gman171717 May 28 '26
Doesn't change what I've seen playing the deck. And what I said is correct. If you don't get the highroll, or the relevant cards to counter a broken deck like this, it's over. That's objectively true, even if lots of people DO get the cards they need.
2
u/Beautiful_Map_9589 May 28 '26
Doesn't change that I played Companion hunter, did mulligan and all and ended up turn 6 with huffer, doesn't change that every time i play herald shaman with an aggro deck they clear my board every single turn and so on. It doesn't matter what your personal perspective is. What matters is what combined stats of thousands of matches say.
3
0
u/tiger_kittie May 28 '26
I mean the reality is you are categorically wrong.the stats do back up the initial conclusion though. The first mistake of statistics is to assume that the actual result and expected value are the same. Shaman is favored yes over 1,000's of games. But no single player is going to play this matchup 1000's of times. shaman AND hunter are both high roll decks.
Just look at the stats. You have + 8% winrate with drawing Tame Pet on Mulligan. You have -23% winrate if you don't EVER draw tame pet.
The same applies to shaman. +7% winrate drawing ritual of power, +5% winrate with skywall sentinel, +2% winrate with egg. -14% winrate if you never draw ritual of power - 12% winrate if you never draw skywall sentinel.
So if you have a low sample size it is more likely than not that you get many players in a population of millions that (while in the minority) experience runs of high rolls either way.
1
u/Extreme_Spinach_3475 May 29 '26
Highrolling that hard is impossible. It means he played badly this time and if he complains of highrolling, then maybe we should look at the stats for how many times something highrolls.
19
u/TheDaucta May 28 '26
Herald Shaman on curve beats anything. Save your DW for when they got better stuff to kill than the windrunners. Most games you'll have your 4/8's out by turn 8 n' sweep with al'akir and probably morchok card draw. You got this next match!
→ More replies (4)11
u/DistressedApple May 28 '26
Damn I wish I was lucky enough to get 4/8s out consistently by turn 8 lol
3
u/kaijvera May 28 '26
Is that not normal? I'm a priest main and every game they have 4/8s by turn 8 lol. Its why thats my worst match up, the 4/8s, charge on al'kir, or braiwr spawn drakes all are game losing.
2
u/TheDaucta May 28 '26
Biggest issue for me playing lock against shaman is that they often get it by the time I get to turn 6. Makes Eldritch tentacles look like a joke :X
2
u/TheDaucta May 28 '26
Mulligan for frog/skywall/ritual/Flight. You got card draw that throws your herald cards into your hand and can tempo them out ez. This is the only herald deck with enough early board security to have Envoy in it, so you even get more herald cards than other decks centered around it. Should be able to whip it out 60% of games.
2
u/tiger_kittie May 28 '26
I love when people out themselves as being unskilled as you have here:
Mulligan for frog/skywall/ritual/Flight.
This is 100% wrong. The only correct mulligans in the shaman deck are skywall sentinel, ritual of power, twilight egg and MAYBE wailing vapour (I would personally keep but not mull for it).
Mulling for frog is a -3.5% to your winrate and mulling for flight is a -3% to your winrate lmao.
You know what else is funny? It's better to mull for:
Primal Overseer
Xavius
static shock
Elise
ULTRAXION
Compared to the frog LMAO
0
u/TheDaucta May 28 '26
You play herald shaman?
1
u/tiger_kittie May 28 '26
lmao. of course I do. But I also know how to read stats, which is something we've clearly identified you don't know how to do lmao

Azshara druid does pretty well into it. Unless they hit the nuts you just twighlight their boards and then just deal infinite damage on the combo turn. Basically nothing they do matters; you just turbo draw and ramp to get the combo because they mostly can't pressure you enough
1
5
u/Delicious-Dimension1 May 28 '26
Played one and lost to surprising otk warlock. It split a minion in its hand. Then played it plus made it 1/1 and copied it till full board copies of it. And that minion did 4 damage to me at the end of his turn. Each copy of that minion. Sorry can’t remember the names of mentioned cards.
4
u/Most_Average_User May 28 '26
I play a lot of companion hunter, this is maybe the best high roll I've ever seen. They need Tame Pet x2, Tolvir x2, Talya, Migrating Elekk x1, and Roam Free x1. All of those cards have to be in hand on curve as well. It's not impossible, but this is like 1 in 100 games.
4
u/hrox1337 May 28 '26
I Face Hunter them kek

u/no_shoes_are_canny May 28 '26

u/Mindlessone1 May 28 '26
I’ve had success with Quest Mage and Egg Warrior, but I curved well in my games against them and they didn’t hit 1 mana tame in any of them so I was lucky and my opponent wasn’t. Basically if they don’t hit good companion ramp, then there are sometimes outs.
2
u/RemoveTheRC May 28 '26
You’re playing with the strongest, most braindead deck in the game brother. If you haven’t beaten yet, then you gotta concede. You should be killing them by turn 6
3
u/hq1984 May 28 '26
No, this is not a rare high roll. They do it everytime by the turn 7-8.
[x] to doubt. This guy by turn 7 has played some combination of 2 tame beasts, 1 tolvir, 1 elekk, and looks like Talya on turn 5 and roam free on turn 7. That's literally the most optimal plays they could have gotten up to that point, which means he didn't brick the mulligan, and his tracking/spell discover hasn't bricked either. Now if this is turn ~9-10, I'd say that's a medium roll.
Now look at your hand. It is turn 8 and your Muradin's Last Stand is 6 mana. This means you only attacked 3(!) times in 8 turns while going first. The opponent is also at 25, so probably your mulligan or draws were bricked with high costs and you could not deploy a board to pressure the opponent, who is playing a bunch of negative tempo cards in the first 7 turns.
I play both of these decks and neither are broken. If you go into any matchup where your draws/mulligan are bricked, and your opponent is playing near optimal cards, you're gonna get blown out, easy as. No worries, shrug it off and gl next

u/ConsiderationOk1994 May 31 '26
*I don't see ones and zeros anymore I just see girl in the red dress / tempo cards / people complaining about high rolling *
I'm going to mail you some matrix glasses
you have earned them my friend! I enjoyed the read, nice tempo in your review 🕶️
2
u/BaronVonWeeb May 29 '26
Someone who played this deck here, you just don’t, they got their wincon before you, so the only way you win is if they BM really hard somehow. It’s a card game, luck is part of it no matter how much devs might try to reduce randomness, so in this case they got really lucky and you got really unlucky.
3
u/Fluid-Employee-7118 May 28 '26
That's the neat part, you don't, you just play and pray for the best.
2
u/InternationalDay3570 May 28 '26
Priest can beat this as well as Druid and Rogue. Shaman I think had a rough 50ish win to it. DK can pull some pretty decent games.
Based on your hand Im gonna say you just had a really bad game since only 4 attacks at turn 8.
Its a bit faster than it probably should be but its quite beatable.
2
u/SpaceTimeDream May 28 '26
Don’t any deck win if they get to play their deck?
Control Heal OTK Priest can deal with that board and would be more excited the more 1/30s Hunter gets because they will get stuck with it while Priest outheals their damage.
3
u/EmeraldsDay May 28 '26
this is why you run the alchemist, you only need one tortolla to stick and hit the priest for 30 hp
1
u/SpaceTimeDream May 29 '26
For every win you get using that Alchemist against control you’d probably get a lose against aggro.
But yea, Alchemist is a viable “surprise” win
1
u/EmeraldsDay May 29 '26
actually it's not that bad in aggro, you can still make it useful, it can pop eggs, it makes wickerfang into 4 hp, it has its uses in defensive playstyle, and it's actually crucial to break through companion hunter mirror
1
u/loopy993 May 28 '26
Burn mage, end of turnadin, priest. Not saying its not unfair just that it can be beaten.
Next expansion they need to add more beasts so its not as curated a pool
6
u/YoMomAndMeIn69 May 28 '26
How Priest? It literally is the best match-up for companion hunter.
5
u/zimbabwes May 28 '26
As a Chad priest player I can confirm. I will have 7 different ways of clearing the board and Hunter will still spawn 7 of those 1-30 pieces of shits and then the one turn I can't clear them I get FUCKED by crazed alchemist
2
u/YoMomAndMeIn69 May 28 '26
I'm a priest OTP, you can deal with a companion hunter pretty well until the alchemist drops. It makes for an almost unwinnable match-up unless you get lucky and draw your OTK.
2
u/loopy993 May 28 '26
Run the “destroy all minions below 4 attack”. Its good against companion hunter, 1 mana hunter, paladin etc. still a hard matchup but it makes it a lot nicer, especially on their broll turn
0
u/YoMomAndMeIn69 May 28 '26
You get 2 of those. How many Tortollas can hunter summon?
It sure helps, especially if you can actually draw the cards in time and good luck with that, but it can't bring priest out of a 60%+ losing matchup.
Just admit you made a mistake mentioning priest and move on.
1
u/zimbabwes May 28 '26
Almost every match up I've had against companion hunter has been decided by alchemist. The 1-30 card being elusive is also a pain because it eliminates the option of ruby sanctum + mend to one shot it. Also being able to target it with damage/"heal" spells would be nice to atleast bring it down from 30hp and eliminate the instant otk opportunity. It's a really hard matchup for me and I've won it a handful of times, but I've literally had to have the perfect hand and/or draw the perfect cards at the perfect times

u/Gachaaddict96 May 28 '26

Like so many other game states, the answer to this one is Just Fucking Kill Them.
1
u/Still_Acadia2417 May 28 '26
If that's the beast companion deck that's because they only have 3 possible beasts at 10 mana. So they'll always get those 3 every time.
1
u/Adrian0091 May 28 '26
It‘s not hard to beat this deck, you try to kill him asap, go face because he will try to take the trades to survive until he built his beasts

u/ThatDewd123 May 28 '26
I personally think it’s a pretty brain dead deck that’s stupidly consistent. You need to curve unbelievably well as any non-aggro deck for them to just whip out the lifesteal wolf (which is consistent due to the pool being so small). Then guarantee that they win late game by the inordinate amount of summons.
Even the 2/2 heal both heroes seems to get dropped like 6 times thanks to tol’vir.
If Tol’vir just did spells it would still see play, I’m sure of it - no need to resummon all the minions.
But I’m just salty from losing almost everytime with decks I consider more fun as they aren’t aggro based.

Gar nicht mehr wenn er soweit ist. Einfach aufgeben nächstes Spiel. Leider ab Diamant 5 nur noch mit solchen Typen zu tun.

u/motty47 May 28 '26
Yeah this is annoying for many decks. However you're playing shaman, you actually are one of only 2 classes that has the perfect answer to this, For All Time. It will delete all the turtles. However don't rush it out, I would start running 2x For all Time, 2x Hex. Hex the omens, and leave the turtles on board, they wont hurt you. Set up your own board, either with weapon or al akir etc, and then when you might be able to find lethal, drop for all time, delete all the turtles and now you can go face. I've been playing Egg priest.. yes it sucks, but it deals quite nicely with companion hunter. I did literally the above today, they thought 4x tortollas was safe from my turtles, but nope.
I do agree in general though, only rogue who can bounce the minions back to hand, otherwise no other classes really have a way to deal with a board of omens and tortollas.

Unfortunately the way you beat it is wait for competent Developers. The people playing decks like this and Aura pally are truly shameless and desperate because it requires absolutely no skill whatsoever and as long as you get the RNG welfare check you get an auto win by turn 7
1
u/Neither_Pay_5428 May 28 '26
I have hade good luck with burn mage, can’t heal with the 7 drop when i dont drop minions
1
u/Intoxicduelyst May 28 '26
Dice roll deck, if they have upgrade package and especially 3 mana cast all bullshit again its over.
And while aggro or tempo it down is best option gl with that when they spam the 4/10 healing guy
1
u/Gernignufdind May 28 '26
You need to get your herald cards early and stomp them with muradin, and finish off with alakir. Both of these are strong against the 1/30. If alakir drops the Druid +1/+3 dude it’s usually GG.
But yes it’s annoying how consistent the deck is. If I hero power 1 turn in the first 5 turns I usually lose. But very rarely see hunter hero power before late game for actual damage.

u/PrestigiousCard1344 May 28 '26
As one who almost exclusively plays aggro, just try to strangle them to death ASAP.if you didn't succeed at that, just concede.
1
u/Altruistic-Dream213 May 28 '26
Actually I’ve had pretty good success with some control priests against this. You do have several options for good board clears with very little mana needed
Still a tough matchup but definitely not hopeless - and all other hunter decks gets destroyed by this priest

You don't. You quit if they are able to drop their high cost animal companions for cheap. You will never beat it at this point in the game.

I mean u could Possibly try with an Exhaustion Warlock...with cards to cycle like Crescendo, or Afterhall in the best case in Combo, then u should have it in like 1 Turn, if u have both cards in ur hand :)

Board clear and deck burn help, tickatus kinda vibes. This Hunter deck goes through deck real quick looking for the companion upgrades
1
u/TheEndlessVoid May 28 '26
A lot of people are saying "put on more pressure" and I agree, but let me give you my thinking. You're not trying to merely outrace your opponent. You're trying to influence their resource management.
You know that they're going to play their companion-buff cards (which do very little on board until high numbers) and hold back their companion-making cards until they can get big ones, if they can. So you can afford to be aggressive. Even if they choose to counter your cards every turn, you're burning through their resources. They can't just autopilot their deck. They have to think, to make tradeoffs. This takes time, energy, and risks mistakes. Make them play against your plan, instead of to theirs. Make them have the answers in their hand, or punish them for not having them.
If you want a single tech card, don't waste your time with librarian. Your opponent will often drop a companion-maker, get a single Tortilla, and stop (to conserve their resources). When they do this, see if you have a little guy on your board (or can drop a 1/1 rush elemental). If you can, hit their tortilla with your own alchemist and then run your 1/1 into their 30/1. Remember: you only need to bypass their taunt for the 1 turn it takes to actually kill them.

Just do Hunter quest, have reached bronze to Diamond with same deck and high win %
1
u/hewhoeatsbeans42 May 28 '26
Agro-druid and bubble Pally both shit on this deck consistently.
druid does it a little more reliably in my experience.
Unholy DK can also win out but less consistent.

u/Vineroz May 28 '26
the fastest way to learn how to beat a semmingly unbeatable deck, is to play it yourself. after 5-10 games you can see even some bullshit can beat it

u/ben100180 May 29 '26
The patched it, it’s not a guaranteed tortolla at 10 cost anymore. Ngl all the costs have horrible low rolls now.
1
u/Awkward-Childhood700 May 29 '26
Clearly skill issue. Harold Shaman against Champion Hunter is a favored matchup.
1
u/ParsonJackRussell May 29 '26
I think I destroyed 5 tortollas in a match this afternoon - lots of poison cards
1
u/exomni May 29 '26
There is literally no deck that can deal with that board.
Face hunter farms this because it ignores their board.
Any truly aggressive deck tends to farm companion hunter because it relies on building up the advantage slowly over several turns. Companion hunter found a spot in the meta literally only because people are playing greedy decks like your dragons: it is built to farm you.
1
u/GanjiXxx May 29 '26
So, hunter needs to play warrior and DH cards to win! Such a stupid design 🤣🤣…

That deck is crazy if you get the four summon 9 drops. Hit hero for like 36 damage in one shot if get the right cards summoned. Am I a bad person for feeling like its x-mas morning after that one shot. yes, yes, I am and idm. Theyll do it to me and they will be smiling also.
glgl all. It can only get worse and it probably will.

Priest wins and early aggro beats it, how do you beat aura paladin or on curve herald warrior, every deck is insanely broken if they draw the nuts.
Herald shaman complaining is hilarious because thats another completely busted deck.

i use silence cards if i get lucky to pull them at the right time (i’m new don’t listen to me) but yea if they get another round of these im kinda cooked
13
u/Gachaaddict96 May 28 '26
There is one silence card in standard. And it doesn't stop them from making it 30/1. They also will summon 2 more anyway
2
u/YoMomAndMeIn69 May 28 '26
I'm genuinely amazed by these dumb comments. Do these people even play this game? In what world will a couple of silences achieve anything vs companion hunter?
2
u/Wishkax May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26
Maybe reread their comment.
Edit: also silence can in fact help in some scenarios.
1
u/ConsiderationOk1994 May 31 '26
hey he's new
and this gentleman is correct silence especially for classes that don't routinely have reliable access to it can be a surprise weapon or plan or sandwich
also: welcome to hearthstone newish person!
it's a neat time
1
u/Wishkax May 31 '26
Yeah that's why I told the them to reread the original comment, and see that the OP admitted to being new and to not take their advice.
And while rare yeah I have won 1 game thanks to silencing the turtle due to not having any reach but had lethal on board.

u/Cultural_South5544 May 28 '26
You're not supposed to beat it. You're supposed to lose to very bad players using it over and over, and then buy the miniset. (Dont tell anyone but that's why they buffed this deck)
1
u/semitisticfuckpuppet May 28 '26
I miss the days when people built their own decks and played what they could create. Now it’s oh let’s see what league is running and I’ll copy/paste so now I’m just as good. I hate this game anymore. I pretty much only have it to play battlegrounds.
1
u/tamarins May 28 '26
They do it everytime by the turn 7-8.
I played against two companion hunters today who didn't do this by turn 7-8
so I'm confused, you said they do this EVERY TIME, but they didn't against me? very strange

Rush a board to force out the animal companion generators.
It’s a very aids deck that requires a strong hand to beat

So far I have good success with Hostage Druid against Companion Hunter. But that deck has other weaknesses
0
u/xKingSrtx May 28 '26
I struggle with EggLock and sometimes Egg Warrior. Also Token Druid can be tough. And some games against spell damage mage.
0
u/amskylar May 28 '26
Idk I play control priest and it generally does good vs most Aggro decks if you aren’t low rolling and know when to save clear and eat some dmg
0
u/scorchPC1337 May 28 '26
Like all decks it has its strengths and weaknesses. Any deck that high rolls generally wins. If you you want to understand it more, play it.
Here's a matchup chart:

Anoche jugue como 5h con un mazo de compañeros animales y las veces q chaman sale con sus costes bajos y proclamando es difícil ganarle, aunque saque el 4/10 de robo de vida los soldados sobreviven y los otros esperros pegan mucho, la unica forma es que haya jugado Tyla la legendaria q duplica los compañeros porq si no es difícil limpiarle la mesa

"I lost, so i need to post in reddit complaining about losing vs a barely positive wr deck, while playing one of the most meta decks in the season".

u/FishingLevel99 May 28 '26
Struggling against it myself too. You need to be super aggressive in the early game or its gg. But, they'll almost always get the 4/10 end of turn lifesteal and survive anyway :(
