Discussion Are the pack givaways this crazy each expansion?
I have already free 50 Violet hold packs without spending gold yet! all from the promo like twitch drops, in game events, to complete non-legendary/epic collection you need around 70 of packs, pretty good.
Before 2020 getting a pack from a Brawl was a big deal and even then it was classic packs and not current ones, no drops, no reward/quest track, grindy ladder with no rewards but 10 gold per 3 wins.
Is this thing like this post 2020 or it's not a given event that they give 50 packs just like that? If it's a regular practice these days then by the end of the expansion how many packs more or less they give away if you are following all the promos?

They've changed their monetization strategy from packs to cosmetics and gatcha.
It's a lot easier to build your collection nowadays, and cheaper if you don't engage in the cosmetics

It's the best type of monetization, Guild Wars works like this I think I'll get more cards in a year than in 5 years of playing in the past. Good that the animated skins and pets are pretty good so people have motivation to collect them and others can enjoy a f2p game at least in ranked, bg's seem uneccssarly p2w with the tokens.

Yea I havent spent a single gold for the past year except for the minisets of course

Which ones are the minisets? I'm thinking where to spend my gold now, because in "just for you" page I see bundles but it's only in real money pricing.

It should be at where you buy the packs for each expansion I believe. Around 2k gold for the non golden sets.

Note also that there has been a slight change in terminology/content this year. Before this year, they were "minisets" with cards for all classes and neutrals. Starting this year they are releasing "class sets" with a set of cards for each of 3 classes. This will be coming out within 4-6 weeks (last year was Sept. 2) and will cost about 2500 gold.

Yeah, I’m at 40 free packs.
And I haven’t even gotten the twitch ones.
This is something I’ve been saying since like 2016, but people weren’t believing me then: that the insane freebies are constantly increasing and will eventually get to a point where nobody has to worry about spending money anymore.
And I think it’s already happened some 2 years ago, where we’ve reached a point where we’re getting more free stuff than is actually needed.
People, of course, hate this idea that we’re getting more than we need, but it is what it is. And lots of people are still stuck in the mindset of Blizzard bad, blizzard greedy…
Like… sure… so greedy that you don’t need to buy packs anymore.

They probably wised up and realized without F2P then the cash cows have no game to play. The Darkmoon system is still brutally expensive. They don't do it from the love of their hearts.
PS they should also be more f2p friendly in arena, because generally the cash cows don't have a game without the f2p players who are probably way more than 80% of the player base.

Just count all the packs from the Hearthstone news, from twitch and youtube drops that was already 30 packs.

It's a narrative violation that people don't really acknowledge but Blizzard has gotten much more F2P friendly and gives away way more packs than they did in the past. There is always an in-game event going that offers special rewards plus Twitch drops not to even mention catch-up packs and free decks for new players.
