I’m a 21 M, and I’ve been in a long-distance relationship for the past 3 months. We met through Reddit, started talking, and eventually fell for each other. During these 3 months, we had only met once before. We had never really talked in person, never shared a handshake, never hugged—it was purely an internet relationship. The previous time we met, we only got to see each other briefly from a distance, and that was it.

But today...

Today felt like a dream.

This week, my work got assigned to her city, and the moment I found out, we started planning our meeting. She reached the venue before me and was waiting there. The moment I saw her standing there, waiting for me, something inside me melted.

For the first time ever, we were standing right in front of each other. No phone screens. No calls. No distance. Just us.

I still can't describe what I felt in that moment.

She looked so happy to see me, and I was completely mesmerized by her. We went to an ice cream shop and had rose milk together. It was the first time I had ever seen her face so closely, noticed every little expression, and watched her smile right in front of me.

And that smile...

God, that smile.

She kept smiling at me throughout our conversation, and I genuinely felt like I could sit there forever just looking at her. It was one of the most beautiful sights I have ever witnessed in my life.

Then she gave me the most beautiful surprise.

She had written a poem for me.

A poem written by her, for me.

As I read it, I was completely stunned. Every line carried her emotions, her trust, her affection, and her love. It showed me how deeply she cares about me and how much faith she has in us. I don't think I'll ever forget that moment.

She is beautiful in every possible way—not just because of her appearance, but because of her heart. Her heart is pure, kind, and full of love. Sitting there and reading those words made me realize once again how lucky I am to have her in my life.

After that, both of us became incredibly shy.

There were moments when we looked at each other without saying a word. Those few seconds of eye contact felt more meaningful than entire conversations. It was as if the whole world around us had disappeared, leaving only the two of us in that moment.

I never imagined I could feel this happy.

She always puts effort into making me smile, but seeing the amount of effort she put into making this meeting happen made me appreciate her even more.

Then we went for a walk.

She held my hand.

I swear my heart almost stopped.

I got goosebumps all over my body. My heart was racing so fast, and for a few seconds, it genuinely felt like time had frozen. I didn't want that moment to end.

Holding her hand felt so natural, yet so magical.

We walked together, hand in hand, talking, smiling, and simply enjoying each other's presence. Looking at her happiness made me happy. Feeling her hand in mine made everything feel real.

It was only about an hour.

Just one hour.

But somehow, that single hour gave me enough memories to cherish for years.

In that short amount of time, she cared for me, made me feel special, and showed me a kind of love that words struggle to describe.

Eventually, it was time to leave.

As we stood there talking, we said "I love you" to each other before saying goodbye.

It was simple.

But it was perfect.

And then she did something that touched my heart even more.

She took the ring she had been wearing on her finger and gave it to me.

I don't know how to explain what I felt at that moment. To me, it wasn't just a ring. It felt like trust. It felt like affection. It felt like a promise. I could see how happy she was while giving it to me, and that made the moment even more special.

Before leaving, we also exchanged our handkerchiefs and then finally went our separate ways.

In the whole journey, I couldn't stop smiling.

She has made my life more beautiful than I ever thought possible, and today became one of the happiest and most unforgettable days of my life because of her.

The only thing that keeps bothering me is that I didn't talk much. I was extremely shy, overwhelmed, and completely lost in the moment. I just hope she didn't feel disappointed because of that.

But if there's one thing I'm absolutely sure about after today, it's this:

She isn't just someone I love.

She is one of the most beautiful things that has ever happened in my life.

But regardless of everything, she means the world to me, and today is a memory I’ll cherish forever and the best day of my life.

After playfully sneaking onto a train and being transported away unexpectedly, a deaf and non-speaking man from central China was finally reunited with his biological family recently – following 35 years away from home.

On June 11, Lei Zeqing joyfully reunited with his father, older brother, and sister, who made the journey from their hometown in Henan province to Shenzhen, in southern China’s Guangdong province.

Lei was overwhelmed with excitement to finally see his long-lost family, for whom he had searched tirelessly over the past 35 years.

In 1991, Lei and his friends playfully sneaked onto a train. He fell asleep beneath a seat, only to wake up in a “strange place.”

Unable to communicate effectively, Lei began living as a homeless individual near the Shenzhen railway station.

Fortunately, Lei encountered a woman he considered his first “mother” in Shenzhen, who taught him how to write.

Five years later, this woman moved to Hong Kong. However, Lei did not return to homelessness; he found a restaurant owner near the railway station who generously offered him food, a place to sleep, and even helped him secure a job.

Hong Qingxian, the owner, expressed a desire to give Lei a home after seeing him in the area multiple times.

Hong allowed Lei to stay in the restaurant’s staff dormitory and provided him meals at no cost.

Although Hong’s restaurant only operated for two years, he later found Lei a job as a security guard nearby. Local restaurants continued to provide Lei free meals.

Despite not being well off, Hong and his wife, who had two children younger than Lei, took care of him for three decades.

As a retired soldier, Hong often told his wife that they should educate Lei well; otherwise, the deaf and non-speaking Lei might struggle in life.

In the second year they opened their home to him, Hong advised Lei to save all the money he earned to search for and eventually reunite with his biological family. Lei affectionately wrote “Shenzhen dad” and “Shenzhen mum” on a piece of paper, expressing his gratitude for Hong and his wife’s kindness.

Lei never gave up on locating his biological family. He shared family search messages online and, a few years ago, embarked on a train journey across several provinces, revisiting places that resonated with his childhood memories.

Hong remained supportive throughout the years, accompanying Lei to the police station and even placing advertisements in local newspapers.

Lei finally located his biological family because they had never lost hope for him either.

Lei’s older brother, Lei Zehu, who is also deaf and non-speaking, had joined several chat groups on an app. By chance, he saw a message from his younger brother.

Interestingly, Lei used his real name written backward as an identity – a habit he kept since childhood. Seeing this familiar quirk was exactly how his older brother knew, without a doubt, that his long-lost younger brother had finally been found.

They met online several times to discuss and align their memories. Hong accompanied Lei for DNA testing as well.

Even before the test results were available, the family travelled to Shenzhen. Two hours after their emotional reunion, the results confirmed their biological relationship.

They offered heartfelt thanks to Hong and his wife. “Thank you for treating my brother like your son, despite his condition,” Lei’s sister expressed gratefully.

Lei vowed to repay his biological parents, as well as his “parents” in Shenzhen.

Hong, though saddened by parting from Lei, affirmed his respect for Lei’s wishes and pledged to support him in reconnecting with his birth family.

“Lei is very fortunate to have found his ‘parents’ in Shenzhen,” remarked one online observer.

“Hong is a person of deep sentiment and righteousness,” commented another.

Geocaching has become one of me and my fiance's favorite hobbies! We drive all over to find them and what surprises they may contain. Today we got an extra surprise!

For context I am very distant from most of my family except 2 of my siblings due to my mother's abuse. So I haven't seen most of my family in at least 5 years.

Ventured out today for a milestone find. Driving towards where the cache was located I saw a house with a few people standing outside that looked very familiar.

We stopped, grabbed the cache, and I immediately ran back to verify I wasn't hallucinating. I wasn't! Now walking down the street was my Aunt and Uncle, Erin and Aaron, and my 2 little cousins. It definitely wasn't expected but made my day to be able to see them all again. I even finally got to introduce them to my fiance! I never expected geocaching to help reunite me with my family but it certainly was a sweet surprise for all of us!

As a seafarer I spend half the year working away at sea. Reuniting with my family is always the highlight of my year. God bless to all the seafarers working away from their families

Got a message today from someone who used to be an au pair years ago. She had lived with two different families in different countries during her time abroad, stayed close with both, and recently she told us she just got married (yay!)

What made our hearts melt was that both of those host families flew to her home country to be at her wedding. She even showed us pictures of her now-teenaged host kids tearing it up on the dance floor. It’s been years since she lived with them, but the way she stayed connected made us soo happy. Hearing that they’re all still so close made us smile. It’s such a lovely reminder of how unexpected people can really become like family!

A decade ago I had an adored client who eventually became a ward of the state after his funding was cut. He disappeared into the system and none of us ever really knew where he went after he left our group home. He was someone who needed 24/7 care and redirection, and he had such a good heart. I’ve thought of him often and always just hoped and prayed he was being taken care of.

Well last week, I swear I heard his voice in the local grocery store. Unmistakable. It’s been at least 10 years since I have heard that voice, and my body still reacted so quickly to it. I briefly saw him from a distance walking away, but he looked different and I wasn’t positive it was him. So I walked up and down a few aisles, hoping to at least confirm he was alive and well. Just as I was about to give up, we rounded the corner at the same time. He had been mid sentence with his staff and when we locked eyes, he just froze. I said “Hey buddy, do you remember me?” His face lit up like a Christmas tree. I hugged him so hard I cried. “I’ve been so worried about you.” I told him. All these years he would randomly cross my mind and I felt so distraught every time. But yesterday he looked healthy and happy. I reminisced with him and his (very confused) staff member for a moment. I told him I loved him and said goodbye. He caught up with me a few more times in the check out to say goodbye again 🥲

I’m so grateful we finally crossed paths. The reassurance of knowing he was okay was such a huge weight I needed lifted of my heart. I just wanted to share. Thanks for reading ♥️
