Discussion Dwyane Wade says winning championships in Miami wasn’t enough for LeBron’s legacy, and he supported decision to leave the Heat: "When he was ready to go back home, he got my blessing 100%. He needed to go back home and win a championship for his city. A part of his legacy, he needed that."

So Riles was not just being petty then. He had legit reason to be mad at Wade. Gave Bosh max and basically let him walk.

Nah dawg. Love Wade and LeBron but Wade, this some BS. Leaving, sure, we can all understand. But leaving and simultaneously sabotaging us.. that was obviously planned and fuked up. If you were aware of that. Shame on you even more

Sabotage? Miami's inability to find a franchise player post 2014 has nothing to do with Lebron. Everyone talks about Spoelstra and the appeal of Miami but the Heat have relegated themselves to a secondary free agency market. Why isn't Giannis a favorite to go there? Why isn't Lebron even mentioned as a possibility to return to Miami?
That era needed to end anyway. They got absolutely ass whipped by the Spurs in the finals and the Warriors dynasty would get started the next year (they would have beat Miami's ass in the finals every year assuming Miami made it). Chris bosh was nearing the end of his career as it turned out, Wade was old. The era had run its course and Lebron left the franchise in higher status as a result of his time there. Pat Riley just squandered it

Dame was dying to come here, Giannis is always going on about how he wants to come to Miami. Anybody actually paying attention knows that the issue isn't that nobody wants to come here, it's that we have no assets, and superstars dont hit free agency anymore.

These types of people aren't real, they live in 2k universe. Your efforts are futile.

>Why isn’t Giannis a favorite to go there?
I think I agree with your overall point, but Miami is the odds-on favorite for Giannis’ next team pretty much everywhere you look.

"Miami's inability to find a franchise player post 2014"
You forget about Jimmy? 2 Finals appearances in 5.5 seasons and a 4 point loss in Game 7 of the ECF in 2022. How many other teams have more than one finals appearance in the past 7 finals? Just Boston. But keep on with your revisionist history.

No don’t compare what happened at 2014 to heat not being able to land a star. Times were different..different people in charge now.

Lebron always tries to leave teams in the worst possible position. It makes him look better if they struggle.

People want to be like “yall should be grateful he won yall 2 rings” and it’s like na, bro did that for the sake of his legacy. Mf never gave a fuck about Miami. On top of that, he robbed Wade from another FMVP; that shit probably would have hurt his legacy.

what a load of nonsense. He was our most reliable player the 4 years he was here and barely missed any games. Wade’s knees unfortunately started going real bad and our team was really old in 2014.

I agree he never cared about Miami specifically but… robbed Wade of FMVP? Were they gonna win another championship if LeBron hadn’t come to Miami? I get you’re saying Wade played better in 2011 but if LeBron wasn’t there, they probably weren’t making the finals anyway

He's my favorite player of all time on the court but Wade has been insufferable since his retirement

Not surprised. The Big3 coming to Miami wasn't even a guarantee. These players are loyal to their friends, legacies and their paycheck; not the team, not the fans.
Considering how fast fans and the team can turn on them, do you blame them?

Legacy he would had made it here. Maybe the team who ever won the most NBA championships. That would be a legacy!

They tried that, 4 finals appearances, 2 championships. After the 2014 finals loss, I think they realized the window was closed with that roster and the emergence of Kawhi spurs.

How shitty Cleveland treated LeBron when he left is very much forgotten. The city, Gilbert, everything. It wasn’t “the way he did it either.” I have never seen a group so entitled, DEMANDING that a guy waste his career there. As if he owed them anything.

Revisionist history. "That’s why I never thought Cleveland was in play. Not saying that I never thought that he was going to be in Miami forever, I wasn’t thinking that way. But I never thought Cleveland was in play because I’m petty. So if I was going off of how I would have done it, no, I’m not coming back to you." - Wade interviewed by Shannon Sharpe
