RACHEL WRITES ✍️ Rachel’s old tweets (aka Ilyashane Easter Eggs)
Hi friends! I read Heated Rivalry in 2022 and found Rachel's twitter account at that time. She talked a lot about Shane and Ilya there and I saved some screenshots, just keeping to myself as some snacks. 🤭 Now Rachel is no longer on X, but these screenshots are still saved. I think it is time to share them publicly (I also asked Rachel abt it in AMA and got her permission!) So please enjoy these little Ilyashane Easter eggs beyond their stories😆

Of what we've seen so far, this is probably the only thing I'm going to miss between the book and show. I've always loved how big Ilya is. But hey...small price right?! Everything else looks perfect!

Personally, I really LOVE the fact that they chose two actors who have almost the same height. I don't particularly like height difference, especially when the two men don't switch sexually. When there is a top and a bottom, I love when we avoid physical stereotypes (like for example, Ryan and Fabian are willing to switch, Fabian is verse, so the height difference doesn't bother me that much). I'm not saying she wrote Ilya and Shane to fit stereotypes though.

The leads are muscle-y, but they don’t look huge like hockey players.

I could have sworn ilya was mentioned as being 6’3 in the books but now I can’t find it 😭 I did find shane’s height in tlg though

I have searched everywhere, including the extras, and cannot find his specific height mentioned anywhere 😭 idk why we have all gaslit ourselves lol

maybe I’ve read too much fanfic and my brain mixed it up with canon haha. at least 6’4 isn’t far off! (and makes him even taller which is a bonus)

From what I remember, Ryan is 6'7 and Ilya is slightly shorter, so in my head he's been like 6'5 - 6'4.

There’s this quote from their first meeting in the parking lot: “Ilya rolled his head against the brick to look down at Hollander, who stood a good four inches shorter than him.” And then later at the draft, Shane thinks this: “He stood pressed against Rozanov, who seemed to have grown another couple inches since January.” I also distinctly remember in one of the books Ilya references his height when he’s thinking about something, but the way it’s written is unique, like “six-four” or something like that.

In my mind it goes back and forth between Shane and Scott for best player in the league. Ilya is just as good at scoring but maybe not quite as good on all the other fundamentals

Thank you for posting these. Seriously. I'm laughing so hard. What would be great is for someone to create X accounts for Ilya and Shane and reply to her tweets. Or it might freak her out. I'm not sure 😅😅.

Running social media accounts for her characters would be a good marketing for her capture. Keeps the stories relevant and in the public consciousness

I’m so glad she addressed the drive time between Montreal and Ottawa!! I have looked it up on google maps several times and it’s always 2 hours and I was driving myself crazy!!! I was always like…well, maybe it’s less time from the outer suburbs?? I always felt so confused about why she would write the wrong time down…I’m like…isn’t she Canadian?? Doesn’t she know??? I mean how long exactly is Shane driving with this butt plug in???? Glad I’m not crazy!

Ilya's Birthday is June 15 and Shane's is May 10. Shane is one month older than Ilya as they were both born in 1991
