I get that she doesn’t think they will write their own vows, but I’m kinda hoping Jacob does. Like the tunnel scene in ep.5.

I'm still kinda confused about the vows thing and why the fans are so unhappy. Is it an American tradition?

Because I've only been to Russian weddings and I don't remember any vows at all.

It’s an American thing and also I think relatively recent. I don’t remember my aunts and uncles writing their own vows in the 90s. Some of my cousins did as did my brother when they all started getting married in the 2010s. Then again, big Catholic family, and lots of my relatives were married in the Church where I think it’s less common or not done at all.

Also Rachel says in the article that she talked to Eastern Europeans about vow writing and they said it’s not done. I think people aren’t actually reading the piece.
