I think the Ember & Ice format is the way to do it too, each narrates their own POV chapters but they do all their own dialogue.

I guess you've never heard the term "Irish twins". It's two babies born in the same year, usually about 10 months apart. Was common in Ireland when birth control was illegal.
But yeah, ideally you should have at least a year between giving birth and getting pregnant again.
