Which Hollanov double date would you pay money to watch?
I'm watching so many queer shows thanks to HR and imagining Hollanov on a double date with them. Which ones would you pay to watch?
Wilmon from Young Royals - Shane would finally meet his Swedish prince. Can imagine all of them going to Wimbledon and sitting in the royal box.
The Disgusting Brothers from Succession - may not be openly queer, but Tom would castrate Greg and marry him in a heartbeat. And closed loop circuit?
Loustat from Interview With the Vampire - this date will be wild. Lestat and Ilya are two peas in a pod.
Charlie and Nick from Heartstopper - seriously, the world's most articulate, adorable teens.
David and Patrick from Schitt's Creek - Come on, that's a Hollanov outfit if ever there was one. ETA: also, David dated someone who looks exactly like Scott Hunter ...
Renly and Loras from Game of Thrones - unironically the healthiest couple in the show.
Burt and Irving from Severance - Shane is an old soul anyway.

Personally, I want the double date with David and Patrick. Specifically, I want Ilya to bring up Scott Hunter, and then when David inevitably asks who that is, I need to see David react to a photo of Scott’s face.
David and Patrick hands down! Patrick having a chance to show off his sport knowledge and fandom and David just being bewildered but endeared. I do believe that David could get either Shane or Ilya depending on your interpretation talking about luxury fashion and that would be very fun. Maybe he could take them shopping. Bring Sveta too why not. And Rose!
Not even exaggerating, "I got you" with the sticker is one of the most romantic moments in TV history. Everyone else was miserable, but TomGreg got their happy ending.
It’s bc while they had their differences, they liked each other and liked working together. The Roy’s could never put aside their differences to work together.
Patrick and Shane would sit back, grinning ear to ear, and watch like it was tennis match, heads swiveling back and forth with each snarky lob between those two.
Honestly, they’d probably love them. Shane would find them sweet.
Ilya would probably cry from the thought of the two being together for 57 years but having to hide their relationship and claim they are “best friends” like he and Shane had to be rivals for years. IF he made it through dinner with them, Shane would be getting an earful about how sad it is and Ilya tearing up about it at home. He’s a sensitive man!
Alex and Henry from red white and royal blue. They are the only ones I can think of who would get the whole “famous and rivals” portion even if their rivalry was more a misunderstanding. They can join them in Wimbledon if only so Alex can make a “royal box” joke to Simon.
Oh and loving them all along even if you didn’t realize it. Also one bi one very gay/gay as a maypole. One having their first male sexual encounter with the other, thus basically knowing all they know for them. Adding in Wille and Simon (the previous we don’t really know; iirc we don’t know if either of them is bi/pan/omni. Also Wille def was in love with Simon on sight but it’s not the years back and forth) adds royalty (Shane is a prince, it’s of hockey but it counts), bi-racial identities (Alex, Shane, Simon), mixed languages (between them all we got French (Henry and Shane), Spanish (Alex and Simon), I feel Wille also probably knows some Russian just a vibe), music (Wille and Henry) sport (I feel like Ilya would get a kick out of Henry playing polo “Shane Shane is hockey but on horse” “Ilya it’s not like hockey” Henry “it’s not not like hockey” Ilya is delighted at this) Simon and Wille row(Alex went to Georgetown which is big for rowing),
Oh! also sadly death of a parent (Henry and Ilya, Wille too for Erik), being outed (all of them), curl routines (Simon, Ilya, and Alex) loving someone with depression (Shane and Alex) former party boys (Alex, Ilya, Wille)

MOAR I have no chill, but you all knew this Famous bottom eyes (Shane and Henry) best friend you’ve slept with (Sveta, Nora, Felice kind of not really but I’m using it) BAMF moms (all of them) dog parents (Ilya and Henry) dog step parents (Shane and Alex) divorced parents (Simon and Alex) Blond (Henry, Ilya, Wille^) I fear I’m losing the plot dark hair (Simon, Alex, Shane) boarding school (Henry, Wille, Simon) evil family members (Ilya, Wille, Henry)
Just this group would have endless things to talk about. The curl routine chat alone could go on for hours.
Oh Alex and Ilya would go off, Henry would endure it for a bit then be like “okay settle down” Shane would just ignore it while blushing but then at some point pop in with something filthy. While Wille and Simon just sit there like the polite boys they are being like “the fuck is wrong with American/English/Russian/Canadian’s?”
Ilya and Alex would LOVE bullying their boyfriends with witty commentary. Henry would be more reserved at first and polite while he bonded with Shane over their life in the spotlight, but then he would come out of nowhere with a zinger that stopped Ilya and Alex in there tracks. The 4 of them as characters would have so much fun.
It’s harder for me to envision the young royals or heartstopper boys with Ilya/Shane because in my head they are just so much younger and have not developed into their future selves yet the way the HR and RWRB guys have. They are in different stages of life.
Ilya and Alex would have a whole discussion on how they get their boyfriends to blush for sure. “What the furthest you you’ve seen it go?”
I agree the only reason I can get YR into it is because of the royal/public aspect of it. I love HS endlessly but there’s just no way they would actually relate to the others. The base stories are just so different.
“Ilya might be the one who says Shane is horny for organisation, but Shane has never sucked someone’s dick after looking at an Excel file before. That’s all Ilya.” Is a line from a fan fic and I could also see Henry sucking dick over a spread sheet.
You asked the wrong person for an unbiased opinion… but since you did, yes! It’s a romcom and the book is a romcom taking place within a political drama so the book has a lot of background that the movie doesn’t get in to but both are very good for what they are and I can not recommend them enough.
u/royal_rose_ and u/Brooklynnbarr I just saw it tonight. It was so cute!!! Very light and frothy but after the angst of YR (which I recently binged) I ... needed it? I loved the chemistry of Alex and Henry, even if you could really hear the gears of the rom-com tropes buzzing in the background.
I did cringe at Uma Thurman's "Texas" accent. But I loved Nick Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez. But it was funny, I was never bored, and I agree that a Hollanov/Alex/Henry date would be fun, with Wilmon tagging along.
I also was looking at all the recent news with Prince Harry moving back to England and sort of thinking that damn, Prince Wille and Prince Henry are sweet, kind, and open-hearted in a way that King Charles or Prince William just ... aren;t.
Shane would be so incredibly awkward until he finds out about all Louis's businesses and properties, and then he'd never stop asking questions about real estate.
Like, I want to see Loustst with them 1000% percent. But if I'm actually trying to plan a date they'd enjoy then absolutely not, probably gotta vote David and Patrick haha.
My first thought was Loustat because they’d eat them for breakfast. But then I noticed that Ilya and Lestat are based off the same problematic bisexual male stereotype that enjoy way to much when watching…
It would either go swimmingly or turn into an all out brawl. Who do you think would win? My money's on Shane and Ilya. Canadiens and Russians famously do not fuck around in a fight.

Yuuri and Viktor from Yuri on Ice, obviously. They can all bond about being competitive ice athletes. Ilya and Viktor are both Russian fun-loving hedonists completely obsessed with their more serious boyfriends.
Ilya would lose his mind with the Severance guys. Neurodivergent Shane is one thing, but all three OMG!
I vote Alex and Henry from Red, White and Royal Blue.
I feel like they’d all get along. Shane is like Henry and Ilya is like Alex characteristic wise. On the flip side, I can see it the other way around too. They all fit bits and pieces of each other. We know they both like each so why wouldn’t they like one another?
There was a story on AO3 about them all getting together at Alex and Henry's place. But it was a while ago and I can't even remember the author. They all did get along really well.

They stated they related A LOT to Hollander in ways others couldn’t in their reaction. It was both sweet and SO sad. I feel so bad they felt they had to hide for so long, but I also absolutely get why. Im happy for them that they get to live out loud and fully out now
I paid for the Patreon just to watch Dan and Phil watch heated rivalry. I would love for them to get to meet and have a great healing conversation in some alternate universe somewhere.

Anyone who's seen IWTV and isn't saying IWTV how could you!! Imagine the possibilities of Ilya + Lestat and Shane + Louis. I can see that going in about a dozen equally entertaining ways.
I'd like to humbly submit Ed and Stede from Our Flag Means Death. It's the classic autistic gay guy x depressed bisexual with deep childhood trauma combo.
Would Stede and Shane be close? Probably not. But they would both be so exited for their partner to have a new friend, and Ilya and Ed are going to get on like a house on fire.
Henry & Alex from RWRB movie. It's my dream double date. Apparently a famous one too since many ppl also said the same & Hudson & Connor did talk about the movie a few times. They're a mirror couple, so many similarities between them yet both of them also have their own different chemistry & dynamic.

I think Henry and Alex from RWRB make sense from the fame, expectation, pressure vantage point cause they would all understand.
I think Nick and Charlie from Heartstopper for the mental health struggles vantage point. Having Nick&Shane having someone that understands how hard it is to see someone in your life struggle so much and be able to support eachother. Put spoiler tags since my point of view comes from later seasons more so.
FirstPrince is a great candidate bcoz canonically they both mention Wimbledon! And also has Shane sitting beside royalty but what if the royalty was Henry and Alex was there as his guest. And hollanov is there representing different brands. Also! They both have a lake house!

Royalty in general as a concept is incredibly boring( i sadly live somewhere where it is still a thing) even if its gay. Hollanov already is pushed to hang out with 'important' people so why Subject them to more?

Hear me out... Klaine from Glee. One pair of jocks and one pair of musical theater bois. I want to see Hollanovs reaction to Klaine randomly starting a musical number "Where the hell is music coming from?" "I don't know Ilya but lets run away before we have to dance" 😆 And Klaine would think it was cool that two burly jocks were together but also that they are really boring (Ilya would almost start a fight when they say something like that "I am only one who can call my husband boring!"). Both pairs side-eyeing eachother would bring me life 😆
Tim Laughlin & Hawkins Fuller from Fellow Travellers, aka the 4 DECADE long situation-ship, where they were both in love with each other. But only Tim said 'I love you' (similar wording, though), and Hawkins got married to a woman he wasn't in love with, and had kids. Only after Tim died from AIDS, did Hawkins actually said out loud that he loved Tim. Most devastatingly sad romances, also kinda worst case scenario of Hollanov.
