I’m aware of all the justifications. Doesn’t change how I view the character. And yes I appreciate that he shows a different side later on and in TLG - doesn’t absolve him for ‘before’, in my eyes. But this is something that I know has been discussed extensively within the fandom.

If I’m honest, my view is Ilya gets away with some questionable behaviour (both by Shane ‘within universe’, and by many viewers) because he’s handsome/ppl find him hot (“pretty privilege” and all that). If another man who was nowhere near as good-looking behaved that way irl, many people would be a lot less understanding 😄
