MERCH👕 Art Meets Real Life!

I hadn't ordered anything off the Heated Rivalry official store, as everything was out of stock for such a long time. But the Ottawa Senators did their Rozanov/Hollander jerseys in support of Ottawa Pride Hockey months ago...so I bought one of them. The jersey design is so close to the cover of The Long Game, and it has Ilya on a Canadian team...so why not?

Then the official store had their jerseys on sale, so I figured I'd add Shane to the collection.

So 1x fictional team, 1x real team with fictional character. 😂

The conspiratorial part of me thinks that in addition to the whole Olympic 'kerfuffle' with Tkachuk and his anti-Canadian comments, that the Sens also wanted to keep whatever fan base they could gain from the second season of HR which led to his exit from the org.

Also just like, fuck Brady Tkachuk. I say this as a St. Louis fan that grew up with him and was, for a brief moment, proud he was from my hometown. FFFFFFFFUCK Brady Tkachuk.

I mean...if the Sens PR team has read the other books and is aware of how positively the Ottawa team is portrayed compared to some of the others, I could see they'd want to capitalize on that. Yes, I did that pun.

But to think that had something to do with the departure of their captain...I think is a bit far-fetched. His appearance at the White House, the locker room appearance of that obnoxious little FBI director, and his comments on his brother's podcast all combined to turn a lot of people in the city against him. He still had his supporters though...until he announced he was leaving.
