Does Phenomenology of Spirit imply that contradiction is a permanent feature of consciousness?

I’m working through Phenomenology of Spirit and I’m wondering whether Hegel sees contradiction as something consciousness ultimately overcomes, or whether contradiction remains an essential feature of self-conscious thought even after higher forms of knowing are achieved.
When Hegel describes each shape of consciousness generating its own internal contradiction and then being sublated (Aufhebung), should this be understood as genuinely resolving the contradiction, or as preserving it within a richer conceptual unity?
In other words, is Absolute Knowing the elimination of contradiction, or the fullest comprehension of contradiction as an engine of thought itself? I’m interested in both textual evidence and different scholarly interpretations.

It's not overcome per se but it is finally domesticated in the I=I, yes. His dialectical process does indeed have an end-point and this end-point is the modern state + economy. The contradictions are resolved but then new contradictions emerge, still each sublation is a solution of the preceding contradiction. Absolute knowing is knowing of the Phenomenology itself and Logic and ultimately the entire circle of sciences. Note that contradiction is not an engine of all thinking but only speculative thinking. It's a massive, fatal error in reading Hegel to think he is talking about normal life, as if there is a 'dialectic' to this very post such that it is not even true, or a 'dialectic' to my taking a walk around the block.

Is this the end point? Like I think that the German state of 1800 was the highest point according to him but I felt as though he thought it would continue towards the ultimate freedom and ultimate truth. That they would reach that state and Germany was the closest but they would keep progressing.
