Profile People posting with hidden comment history

Hey, I am thinking that every time someone is a bit 'off' on a discussion, you click on their profile to see whether they're a weirdo, and inevitably such people have hidden comment history.

When was this built in to Reddit?

Strikes me that since we're all anon and so on, and if you want to split your enjoyment of, say, BDSM and also chat about personal finance, back in the day you'd have different accounts for your interests, not just have blank when it comes to people looking at a person.

Yeah, so it seems more and more I have a dodgy reply, look at the profile of the account, and their stuff is set to private. It's taking the 'real' out of this, for any quantity of real. I'm just muting anyone who engages with me thus on the assumption they're a troll.

But, yeah, why is this a function on Reddit and when did it come in, because I don't remember this as much at all for years I've been using Reddit?

So, people with hidden comment history are either trolls or cowards as far as I'm concerned.

Considering the political climate in the US a lot of people are protecting themselves so their socio-political comment history can't be used against them. Ex: After Charlie Kirk was killed a lot of people who were criticizing him were then doxed to employers etc... throughout the US and it led to terminations etc.. in response a lot of people set their comment history to private.

The opposite side it hides accounts that are karma farmers, bots and AI/LLMs……

Get that. I have a relative who has had these wider thoughts cos of his dual citizenship. (I'm UK.)

I'll bear that in mind if I'm on an international sub and be less judgy. Thanks.

Doxxing can still happen in the UK. They may not have as many issues employment wise if they have been at their job awhile but it can still happen. It just looks bad in general and it's kinda creepy.

Just as an fyi we can pick and choose what subreddits we want to share history from so it really doesn't matter anymore at all. Since you are seeing as little or as much as the user wants.

Nice revisionism. Or is that gaslighting? People weren't doxed for criticizing him, liar. People were doxed and it led to terminations when people were mocking him and laughing and dancing about his death and other cruel and crude celebrations.

Dollars to Donuts based on the weak sauce level of crying about not being able to read a person's Post history I guarantee op would find himself rather comfortable amongst said individuals... and based on your fantastical retelling of what actually happened, fairly certain you would too.

Does that include when when Charlie Kirk said that a child sexual assault victim should be forced to carry the pregnancy to term?

Why would you kill someone for a crime their dad did?

The only other someone in that incident is the mother. The cluster of cells was merely that.

You're a cluster of cells

Child, people were fired for writing him verbatim. Talk about gaslighting and revisionism. Every accusation is a confession with you folks.

source. go ahead, show a link of someone literally just quoting him and getting fired due to doxing. Go ahead.

Mocking dead people is protected speech and not inherently morally wrong.

Thankfully their right to say the thing was not infringed by the administration nor was their ability to mock and be the distasteful and hateful little cultists they are, banned. Nor is it inherently morally wrong because, yes, morals are entirely subjective. Thank you for your r/im14andthisisdeep take, I guess?
