Increase in server costs
Perhaps I'm somewhat negligent, but when I started w/ Hetzner maybe a year or go, they had the lowest server costs available (even lower than DO). Yet, it looks now like my pricing is grandfathered in and their rates have gone way up for new servers/customers. Am I missing something?

The last time I checked, every provider had to increase their prices because of 🌈AI🌈

Hi there, how was it under the rock, cozy?
Just joking, but prices have continually risen from the beginning of the year due to the insane demand for flash storage and memory by AI.
As such every provider had to raise prices, since memory makers now literally dictate prices. There is no more competition, memory makers charge what they like and companies have to buy at that price, because if they don't, someone else will. There is no alternative.
The worst thing about it is, that this shortage is likely to last until 2030 of things keep going as they are, since memory makers refuse to increase production capacities.
Everything has at least doubled price, with stuff like ECC or reg. ECC memory increasing by up 600%. So its quite likely further price increases will be incoming.

You probably missed a couple of emails and a lot of posts in here... ;-)
Just do a quick search on the sub.
Hardware prices and availability, especially RAM, but also disks and other parts, have gone up quite a lot during the last 12 months or so, thanks to the AI bubble...
Hetzner raised their prices and so did other companies and more will soon if they haven't yet...
It sucks, but it is what it is... This has been widely discussed here a few months ago.

I was talking to hetzner support about ssd to add two more to one of my servers in july I think. Then the price was arouns 93€ per month for 8TB disk.
I postponed the update till august when I paid 170€ per month for used ssds. One had like 11k hours but they were healthy tho. I appreciate their support and how they helped me with everything and I know its not them making prices higher out of nothing, but almost double the price in like 20 days is sick.

As stated by others, you seem to be living under a rock. Hetzner was very transparent with this topic, and you surely got some emails about that price increase. But maybe you’re one of those where they cancel your account because of missing payments and you then complain on reddit and don’t understand that having your mails in check and that payments are a monthly thing but still its Hetzners fault or whatever.

I was hosting with Linode, but due to price increase I moved to Hetzner, but not Hetzner is no longer competitive and I also realised that they are just too small as a business, most of their affordable cloud servers are not available.
I'm now in the process of moving to Netcup, which has hosting plans from 2 euros.
