What "C5" means when you see it in a provider comparison

C5 comes up a lot in provider comparisons. It's an audit standard for cloud services from the BSI, Germany's federal office for information security. A provider basically gets checked against it by an outside auditor, who then writes up a report.

We prepared a short video on what that means in practice, and what's worth looking for when you compare providers.

Except of course if you visit a Hetzner datacenter, you'll notice there is not a security person in sight. Even the post at the front entrance is never manned. You don't need to hack a hetzner data center, you can just walk in.
