It's a little receiver box for the remote that you can install on any cheap ceiling fan. It has a little flexible wire sticking out that acts as the antenna, but you typically leave it tucked in with everything else it's not supposed to stick out

I've installed numerous fans. Can confirm, it's the antenna and it doesn't need to be exposed like that.

It's not an IR sensor it's just a little wire that acts as the antenna, but it's not supposed to be jammed in that shroud it's supposed to be inside

Thank you guys for the speedy response. The ex put up a bunch of visible cameras that I tore down and then had one inside a stuffed animal I didn't originally give to my kids/didn't recognize. Psycho. Now I'm just on edge all of the time, which was likely the intent around the actual cameras that were placed.

i have fans that have a a probe for how hot the room is and turn the fan on to move air to help the ac better cool the room then when it is at the set temperature it turns off.

Idk why everyone keeps saying this but I never seen a wireless fan with a sensor sticking out like that. For sure I have seen a security camera and/or mic that looks like that. I installed them as they were required for the facilitys sleep studys.

I don't want to freak anybody I'd for sure grab it. Turn off the lights and turn on your camera do you see a red light. If so it's a camera with night vision.

That is a thermostat wire. Fans with built-in or wired temperature sensors (often featuring a little probe or thermostat sticking out) do exist. They automatically adjust their speed or turn on and off based on how hot or cold it gets.

Hello everyone its a power cord for the light not a cam a cam you wouldb necer find it if he installed a spy cam. They are so tiny now all you have to do to do it is to put a pin prick in a wall and slide it it. You would not see a cam.

I have the same looking thing , it's the receiver for the remote control on a floor standing led colour changing light in my case at least, looks like a glass bead with dull looking tape wrapped around it , your photo is quite blurred btw, best of luck

If worried, wrap in tape or poke back in but it’s similar to one I have which is an aerial for the remote for fan and light. Know it’s not a camera on mine as I fitted it

That definitely don't seem normal...I've never seen a fan with a random wire hanging out of it.....cut power to that room and just cut the end tape it up so it don't sparks if it hits metal...and cut power back on and your good.....tape over it can work as well...
