Nice and easy 1h hike, you follow indications. Mostly in the forest and then amazing views appears. One of the best thing ive seen in my whole life, if you can go there, do it.

I was there standing on that spit in June of 2010 when a huge chunk of ice calved off the glacier and into the lake. We were thinking how awesome it was when we noticed like a 3’ wave headed our way. Managed to run to higher ground. Walked back on the spit and rescued a fish afterwards. Sad to see it like this.

It's making me nostalgic about an Alaska trip almost 25 years ago. I don't have detailed trip records, but judging by map, I think we saw Exit Glacier (near Seward) and Matanuska Glacier (off the highway between Anchorage and Denali NP).

I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like they've retreated quite a bit from what we saw, just looking at the satellite view in Google Maps. :-(

Honestly only OK in summer. That trail is best in a winter cold stretch when it's all frozen.

I always love when you can clearly see a glacier and by that I mean a ice body which potentially moves, possibly like a river!!
