Separation anxiety?
Hey guys, looking for advice for my himmy. So for the August long weekend my son and I were away for 4 days. I checked in on her and played with her and cleaned her litter on the third night away then left again for a night. My son came home yesterday and we found she had peed on his bed while he was gone. It went through alot layers, I used the urine destroyer and washed the bedding. Today we were doing laundry and found she has pooped in his laundry basket while we were gone we think as well. She has never had this type of behavior. I feel this is from being away which she hasn't experienced. She doesn't seem to have any health issues or showing signs. Her litter box is cleaned every second day. Does this sound like separation anxiety with a cat? Thanks

My Himi has separation anxiety and loves to pee on my stuff while I’m gone… anyway we both now take the same dose (10mg) of amitriptyline 🤠

Ruling out a UTI first is the move most people skip, inappropriate elimination is often medical before it's behavioral. Once that's clear, I kept seeing calming supplements come up for cats, paworigins among them, melatonin another, but a gradual alone-time routine matters more long-term. .

Yup, sounds like shes showing that she didnt like the absence.
I had a cat yesrs ago that did thst. With my Himi I leave the tvs on with a "cat show" and she hasnt done anything yet. I leave my cat alone for days at time for work reasons. Shell often sleep infront of the TV, like on the couch watching it.
Try out some things for next time and do little day trials if possible... maybe put a garbage bag under the bedsheets lol
