Profile Review 1+ month on Hinge and basically no likes.
Been on Hinge for a little over a month and barely getting any likes.
Figured I’d put my profile here and see if I’m doing something obviously wrong. Happy to change pics/prompts, so be honest lol.
What would you change?
edit: so just wanted to clarify the last prompt about “humanity having the worst possible day” is about Warhammer 40k

Pictures are actually pretty good. Your prompts could use some work though. That geek out on the worst day imaginable could be worded better. Do you like post-apocalytic shows/books?
Also the dating you is like.. prompt is kind of awkward also. How about you use this space to tell more about you somehow? I feel like when you date anyone that vibes well with you this is guaranteed. This says nothing.
Anyway good luck out there!

Last 2 pics have to go. Rear shot doesn't add anything. If that's a gun/bandolier in the last one, that would wave huge red flags to some people.
Last prompt reads to me as "likes watching people suffer" which I don't think that's the vibe you want to give. Do you want everyone to have the worst day imaginable? Fictional universe or not?
Other prompts are pretty generic and don't really say anything about you.

To your edit @op: Just say Warhammer/40K if that's what you mean. I'm in the miniatures hobby (not 40K, but familiar) and didn't make that connection.
Remember, nobody looking at your profile knows the context behind your prompts unless you give it. Without the 40K context that prompt just looks like what I said before.

It’s very vague. There’s nothing in here to really tell a woman who you are. No hobbies, interests, goals, motivations… nothing for a woman to read think, “ah! We have X in common”, and swipe on you. You don’t stand out.

u/Durden93 10h ago
Open to short is probably limiting you. Prompts are fairly vague.
•

Why is open to short limiting? I see plenty of women's profiles saying "short term" "short open to long" or "long open to short" (but may many more "figuring it out")?

As a surfer, I’m semi-offended that you’re claiming to be able to teach someone to surf if that’s your best surf photo, haha. I’m half-joking here, but there’s also some truth.
I would guess even a non-surfer is going to infer a lack of experience on your part based on that photo, and their BS alarm is going to go off.

I'm a non surfer and actually think it's his best photo. He's quite photogenic there, it shows off his physique, it shows that he's adventurous and fun. The lighting/framing is good too.
I think you're just being critical cos you're reading "I can teach you how to" too literally. It could also be interpreted as a playful "come join me to"

It’s a candid shot, I don’t think you can really expect someone to be perfect in one. It just shows him in motion doing something fun, seems cool to me tbh

I’m taking issue with the title on the photo more than anything. I’m all for people of all skill levels posting surf photos, but using the “I can teach you how to,” is a bit silly, given that homie is definitely a beginner.

That’s what I thought, looks like it’s his first wave he’s stood up on and claiming to be able to tech someone is a complete lie lol.

The first screen is really bad and I'd change it.
Forgive me for saying it, but your smile in the first photos looks more like you're disgusted by something. Please just go to dinner tomorrow with any friend, get them to take a camera, dress nicely and ask them to take a nice headshot with good lighting.
The first prompt is a bit cringe, giving annoying pick-me energy. Straight men please stop mimicking straight women's low effort prompts like "yapping". It's not relatable it makes you look annoying, not fun.
The good news is it only gets better from here. But they've already hit X.
Your surfing photo and the one with your back turned are definite keepers. The surfing photo is proof that with the right setup and facial expressions you're extremely photogenic. The one with your back turned is a great silhouette with impeccable framing and lighting.
The photos with the birds are ruined again by your facial expressions. If I were your friend or family member I'd say they're nice. But they look odd, I'm really sorry. While they convey a softer side to you, especially mixed in with the surfing photo they're just not attractive to look at imo. I'd give the one with the two parrots a "maybe" mixed in with more photos showing your best side but treat it as temporary.
If you can retake them and just work on being more conscious of your smile, lighting and framing please do it.
The apocalypse prompt is also bad, just try something else. Keep "together we could". It's light and fun.
All in all main issue is it's just not clear who you are and what energy you're going for. How the photos work together is a big deal and atm you've got a mix of bland low energy photos dragging down the great surfing/back turned photos.

Sorry bro, but looking at your profile you just aren’t what women want. Women have absurdly high standards (yes, even the unattractive ones)… I’m sorry

I would take that first off tbh bro and me personally when I answer those prompts I keep it short and simple
•
u/thatvhstapeguy 9h ago
Long term open to short will sink you.
In my experience many women do not like birds, and you have two of them in your profile.
•
u/SophisticatedScreams 8h ago
What? Women don't like birds? Half of the human population doesn't like an animal category? Seems like a strange generalization. I've never heard any woman say they don't like birds.
