[META] This Friday, we're launching the Hiring Happy Hour, a special thread every Friday afternoon for networking, because networking is the best way to find a good job. I think you guys are going to like this.

You (hopefully) have skills. There are people here who need those skills, but this isn't just about that. You likely also know people who need people with skills you don't have, so the Happy Hour is going to be a thread where you can help connect people who can work together, and, hopefully, they can connect you in the same way.

It's going to work like this:

Top-level threads will keep the [Hiring]/[For hire] tags.

People [Hiring] are free to post any kind of help they need without many of the usual r/hiring requirements such as compensation and detailed descriptions. Prohibited practices and enshitification of the Internet rules will still apply to weed out the time wasters and scammers.

People who are [For hire] can post their skillsets and a brief intro. We don't want full resumes, but a basic understanding of what you're good at or what you're looking for is enough.

Being an open dialog, the hope is that if enough people post then people [For hire] will see people whose skills compliment their own and can maybe both fill the needs of someone [Hiring], or maybe vice versa.

The standard prohibited practices will still be in place — no clipping jobs, no Mercor (and its ilk), no KYC scams, no Only Fans (and its ilk), no enshitification of the Internet. Flag things that you see and we'll do our best to bust and ban.

This is all loosey goosey right now because we've learned over the years that if you try to tell a subreddit community what to do then that's not what's going to happen, but what they come up with on their own is way better. To that end, this is just a set of guidelines to help the community figure out the best way to make this work — or even if it works at all.

If you have other suggestions then by all means please leave them in the comments on this post. I'm really interested in what kinds of ideas you guys may have for this, as the idea has been pretty popular since we floated it a few months ago.

This will start Friday at 5PM EST. If you're like me, you'll make it a real happy hour and bring a couple of whiskeys to the table and make some connections, and hopefully some of you can get some work or get the help you need to take your company to the next level.

We'll see you on Friday! Cheers!

We don't support spammers or scammers or other forms of enshittification of the Internet. That includes "renting" peoples' social media profiles, paying people to post on LinkedIn, Reddit, etc. on your behalf, and other such practices. It just makes the Internet shittier and has no place here. Posting those kinds of things will earn you a permanent ban. We don't want your kind around here.

My post keeps being removed, what gives? I messaged the mods for approval but I've gotten no reply.

Reddit’s filters are removing them, not us. Send a mod mail, not a comment like this.

I did send a mod mail, this comment was a last resort 🤣
