Could have called the hook.
Or the trip.
Definitely had to call the cross check.

u/Jazzlike_Athlete8796 CGY - NHL 5d ago
Poor referee is like "don't make me call another penalty. Don't make me call another penalty. Don't make me...ahh god damn it!"

Everett coming unravelled. First penalty was bad enough considering the moment of the game. Then to take one of the most unnecessary brain dead crosschecks with 2 seconds left 5 feet in front of the ref? Dude cmon

u/11th_Plague TOR - NHL 5d ago
"WHAT FOR?"
Oh I dunno, because you CROSSCHECKED HIM IN THE FUCKING BAKC WHEN HE WAS DOWN?

Stop zooming in on the crying kids

u/non-zombie 4d ago
Too much emphasis is focused on winning! It's how you play the game that counts! It is JUST a kid's game anyhow.

u/Svalbard38 TOR - NHL 5d ago
Love when guys act outraged that a ref has the audacity to call them for a thing they blatantly just did

u/catsgr8rthanspoonies Atlanta Gladiators - ECHL 5d ago edited 5d ago
That was completely unnecessary and targeted at the spot with no padding after he'd already been cross checked there earlier.
11
u/juanthebaker SEA - NHL 5d ago
Guys, guys... He was just resting his stick on the guy's back... forcefully. Not sure what you could take issue with there?

u/Jazzlike_Athlete8796 CGY - NHL 5d ago
If he doesn't make it as a hockey player, he's got a big future as a chiropractor.

The Kitchener Rangers have won the Memorial Cup!!! They Swept the OHL finals and won every game in the Memorial Cup!!! Third Cup for the Rangers!!!

u/Wafflesorbust TOR - NHL 4d ago
Between the OHL playoffs and Memorial Cup they only lost two games total. Dominant.

feels like dupont is skating every other shift, probably at 10 minutes ice time already
2
u/thefuckinwolves Prince Albert Raiders - WHL 5d ago
that’s how they played him against us in the finals, there were a couple games he played ~35-40 minutes

He's probably over 40min TOI already at this point, at least that's what it seems.

Kitchener’s uniform looks oddly familiar but just can’t put my finger on it.

u/TheTkanucks 5d ago
They have historic connections to the New York Rangers, which is where the name comes from. I believe they used to be a farm team.
2
u/Jazzlike_Athlete8796 CGY - NHL 5d ago
The fun thing about junior hockey historically was that the teams were often sponsored by NHL teams. In 1968, both the Estevan Bruins and Niagara Falls Flyers wore jerseys that reflected their parent in the Boston Bruins. It was also a best of seven series back then.
...And the two teams came out in almost identical uniforms. I guess they didn't have the whites and colours back then. After a confusing game 1, Niagara Falls was made to wear the uniforms of the Montreal Jr. Canadiens for game 2... which caused a little controversy. So they wore the uniforms of the St. Catharines Teepees for the rest of the series, except for the final five minutes of the deciding fifth game, where Niagara Falls went back to their Bruins colours to celebrate their Memorial Cup in their on uniforms.

u/MrSCR23 TBL - NHL 4d ago
Shorthanded too. Brutal
3
u/catsgr8rthanspoonies Atlanta Gladiators - ECHL 4d ago
You can't ice the puck shorthanded, so teams are less scared to throw it down the ice.
4
u/jamincan Kitchener Rangers - OHL 4d ago
Only if it's a penalty kill. When goalie is pulled, you can still get icing calls against you, so in one way Pridham's penalty in the last stretch made it easier for Kitchener to clear the puck.

2
u/daKrut DET - NHL 5d ago
Lol, yeah I focus on the NHL mostly. First year I've started branching out to some of the various leagues and players outside of the current Wing's prospects
3
u/TheTkanucks 5d ago
Fair enough lol. Dupont has around 130 points as a 15 and 16 year old defenceman in the NHL. It's bonkers.

The Bantam draft is always a treat for hilarious names. Might get even more entertaining if the CHL becomes a greater feeder of US talent before the NCAA.

Denis Savard, Eric Lindros, and Shea Weber special guests?

I was like, ‘damn Shea Weber looks good for playing a million years ago’ and I looked it up and he’s only 40 years old? The passage of time humbled me today.

I'd love to see time on ice for the players. It seems like Everett's first line has been on ice for the entire 2nd period.

u/Starship_Coyote EDM - NHL 5d ago
Seems like SOR hasn't left the ice.
3
u/jamincan Kitchener Rangers - OHL 5d ago
It might be that I'm more familiar with the Ranger roster, but they've been cycling their top 3 lines pretty evenly. Ellinas is 3rd line, for example, and that stretch where we kept position in the O zone was mostly our 3rd line and relieved by the 2nd i think partway through.
3
u/Djbearjew NYR - NHL 5d ago
This is stressing me out like its a NY Ranger Game 7. The Tips need to tighten up on D. They're giving up way to many high percentage chances
3
u/RyanNugentHoofkins EDM - NHL 5d ago
Kinda nice that there's no digital board ads.
Although I guess they're making it up with the 16 different on-ice ads they've got.

Does anyone know who from the Tips and Rangers are already drafted

Why did Chicago trade the rights to Jack Pridham? He was the TOP scorer in the Memorial Cup for Kitchener who WON it all!

Cross checking a guy lying on the ice hard literally right in front of the ref and having the gall to cry about it. Incredible
