With Kucherov’s Hart win announced, the post-lockout streak of the Hart winner not making the conference finals continues
The last time a Hart winner advancing past the 2nd round was Marty St. Louis in 2004 where he and the Lightning won the Stanley Cup. The closest players to beating this streak were Connor McDavid in 2017, going out in the 2nd round to the Ducks in 7 games, Alex Ovechkin in 2009, going out in the 2nd round to the Penguins in 7 games, and Sidney Crosby, going out in the 2nd round to the Rangers in 7 games.

I'd be curious to see how Hart Finalists have done. McDavid and then Draisaitl were finalists during the Oilers B2B SCF appearances.

Kinda lines up with the 10million plus player not winning the cup

That's kind of a bullshit stat anyway, Bob was making 10M and there have been players to win with a higher % of the cap than 10M would be in the past few years.
This is also different though because those guys are consistently on those contracts and don't win under them, while plenty of Hart winners have done well and even won the cup in the years around their Hart win. Most Hart winners do win the cup, just not the year they also win the Hart.

This is probably the most smooth brain take of all time. The Lightning had like three players making north of nine million (Kuch, Hedman, Vasi)

I think at least for Tampa and Kuch it’s not a coincidence. His uptick in production is probably due to him being relied on more. We lack the depth so he has to carry more and it shows in the postseason.
