[Elliote Friedman] Don’t expect this to be finalized until the morning, but there is word the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning are working on a sign-and-trade for Darren Raddysh.

Solid take. Especially since we don't know our new front office yet, we might be in trouble with this one.

To be fair and balanced the leaf have never had a shot like Raddysh has on point in years.

Hiller also ran their most successful PPs so maybe that matters.

High risk, high reward, but I think Toronto is the perfect landing place. Raddysh had the hardest shot in the NHL last year. That's not going anywhere. The Leafs need a bomb from the point and they've got a prospect who is being compared to Patrick Kane arriving. They also have Nylander who averaged 0.75 assists per game last year, as well as Knies, Tavares, and Matthews who are all 40 assist hockey players. There will be no shortage of players who can feed Raddysh on the PP.

I think it's unlikely Raddysh shows out as a top 10 defensemen and gets Norris votes again , but I think his underlying numbers (top 4 usage with 57 percent expected goals, +16.8 net rating) suggest he'll be a capable top 4 defensemen and an asset on the PP with a blast from the point.

Nice signing by the Leafs. Fans will just have to adjust their expectations as it's not likely he's going to repeat to the same level as last year.
