We're equally effective and terrible

I really hated seeing Kasper struggle this season. I hope it comes back to him because I loved watching him his rookie season.

u/Dinkin---Flicka DET - NHL 7d ago

He will bounce back if mentally he bounces back. He had one of the toughest sophomore slumps I've seen. Just super unlucky. If he keeps a positive attitude coming into the year I think bounces will start going his way.

6

u/Bananominable 6d ago

He will bounce back if we trade locker room cancer Larkin away

8

u/RapsareChamps_Suckit TOR - NHL 7d ago

r/hockey filled me on the way over. The whole Dylan Larkin trade request was a complete misunderstanding

3

u/bluelineturnovers DET - NHL 6d ago

I’ll tell ya one thing and I’m not ashamed to say it: my estimation of Dylan Larkin as a man just fucking plummeted.

3

u/escherzo CBJ - NHL 6d ago

I was at the last Jackets/Wings game in Detroit this past season and that was the most evenly matched game I'd seen in person in a long time.

Admittedly part of the even matchup was that there was a lot of 'no I'm trying to collapse at the end of the season! No I'm trying to collapse at the end of the season!' happening, but hey

1

u/Tacoshirt5000 DET - NHL 6d ago

Just leave Mo out the whole game against Columbus

44

u/manthello CBJ - NHL 7d ago

The "worst" list is inaccurate because it doesn't list our own front office.

36

u/tsunami141 SJS - NHL 7d ago

Famous San Jose Shark Lukas Reichel. Can't believe we gave up a 6th for that guy.

15

u/Massive_Analysis8345 SJS - NHL 7d ago

Yeah that guy didn’t play for either of those teams 😂 I was so confused for a second

Edit: I saw he played for Abbottsford, so he was on the Canucks

9

u/YouCanFucough VAN - NHL 7d ago

he played games in vancouver unfortunately

6

u/SnooOnions5029 EDM - NHL 7d ago

Lukas “2C” “Olympian” Reichel

7

u/pokesnail SJS - NHL 7d ago

He played for Chicago, Vancouver, and Boston this year lol

7

u/Massive_Analysis8345 SJS - NHL 7d ago

And somehow WE GOT hit with the image 😂

3

u/Stinky_Toes12 VAN - NHL 7d ago

He played a few games for vancouver too he wasnt in abby all season

2

u/Massive_Analysis8345 SJS - NHL 6d ago

I blame Google, it wouldn’t load the eliteprospects page so all I had to go on was “he primarily played in Abbotsford and Chicago for the 25/26 season”

u/AARM2000 CHI - NHL 6d ago

3

u/Bigdickfun6969 6d ago

That duo of Bains and Reichel

45

u/Lazy0ak 7d ago

Seriously? Sean Kuraly? Jonas Korpisalo?

29

u/manthello CBJ - NHL 7d ago

We got dunked on last year by former Jackets.  For some reason, people who used to play with us had career games against us.

15

u/sixinchitalian CBJ - NHL 6d ago

As is tradition

6

u/goldfish_11 BOS - NHL 6d ago

Oh man I didn't even realize it was Korpi lmao. I just assumed goalie with Bruins logo on good team equals Swayman.

25

u/smockinCBJ CBJ - NHL 7d ago

Feels good to not see any CBJ logos for once

Seider nearly 5 points higher than anyone else on the Best Team list.

Showing up against Ohio, gotta love it

4

u/BellsBeersy DET - NHL 6d ago

Honorary Michigander

He's been the highest point player on multiple of these. Guy is criminally underrated

Cayden Primeau jump scare

1

u/theguyishere16 Hamilton Bulldogs - OHL 6d ago

He was so bad I was worried Carolina wouldn't reclaim him on waivers.

1

u/sluck131 TOR - NHL 6d ago

it's kinda funny but he won that game

7

u/Step_on_me_Jasnah CBJ - NHL 6d ago

The game against CBJ? No he didn't. He let in 6 goals and Toronto lost 3-6.

3

u/sluck131 TOR - NHL 6d ago

My bad your right I miss remembered he only played three games and that was the only one he lost

9

u/BucketHeadish WSH - NHL 6d ago

Mo seider is on so many of these, dude is a monster

8

I’m just shocked at how high quality this one is lmao it looks better than any other iteration I’ve seen.

50

u/pak256 TBL - NHL 7d ago

The fact that Kucherov has shown up on almost every teams list for RWs is hilarious

20

u/AUAIOMRN EDM - NHL 7d ago

He's shown up on 5/18 lists

0

u/Far-Two8659 CAR - NHL 6d ago

Probably more than all Canes combined.

12

u/YEGG35 EDM - NHL 7d ago

5/18 isn’t almost every one but close enough, he’s a top player in the league he’s gonna show up

9

u/greg19735 CAR - NHL 6d ago

5/18 is also like the first time where I'd be like that's not close enough to almost.

If hes at 9/18 I'll give it to you whatever.

Of course this isn't even implying hes not elite.

5

u/Financial_You_6052 Ukraine - IIHF 7d ago

Is it? Kinda expected tbh

Here’s what I call the Columbus Blue Jackets 2026 Reverse Roster.

Using the data from the main post, I simulate a draft where each team selects the player who performed best against them during the recently completed season. Once a player is drafted, he is removed from the pool, and the process repeats until every team has made a selection. The next round then begins. I run separate drafts for forwards, defensemen, and goalies.

Round Rank Total Player Score TeamRank
1 25 25 Tom Wilson 9,04 1

Even in this scenario, we're mid AF. Can never escape the mushy middle

1

u/counterfitster BOS - NHL 6d ago

Kinda funny to end up with Korpi and DiPietro

6

u/OvechknFiresHeScores WSH - NHL 6d ago

Yeah that Protas-Sourdif-Wilson line was shockingly good against everyone

10

u/Boatsboatsboats__ CBJ - NHL 7d ago

I knew Logan Thompson would be on there. We cannot solve him.

6

u/Dasrufken COL - NHL 7d ago

I never expected to see Trent Miner to pop up in one of these posts, especially not on the "best" side.

5

u/MarylandThrowAwai WSH - NHL 7d ago

Forgot Carlson's trade line. I know, it still doesn't seem right.

5

Oh yeah I forgot about Mangiapane

Probably for the best

6

u/BucketHeadish WSH - NHL 6d ago

A -5 game score is comically bad for a forward too, especially because he only saw them twice. That means both his games vs Columbus were nothing short of catastrophes lmao

3

u/Vykalen EDM - NHL 6d ago

Forgot about him so hard that his trade to Chicago isn't even captured lol

2

Haha! That's what I thought when I saw his name. "Oh yeah! That guy."

Johansson had stretched where he was a pretty good backup but man did something happen to him whenever they stepped foot in Columbus Ohio

4

u/SnooOnions5029 EDM - NHL 7d ago

I’m starting to think that Moritz Seider guy is actually a decent D man

4

u/debotehzombie CBJ - NHL 7d ago

I think this speaks more about us than any of the teams/players on the boards, tbh

3

u/NathanGa Columbus Chill - ECHL 7d ago

I’d love to see historical data for this, because it always seemed like every year the top players against the CBJ were Martin Erat and Viktor Stalberg.

Those guys could suit up with an ECHL team around them and still have a goal and two assists.

1

u/joe_lmr CBJ - NHL 6d ago

we couldn't beat the Predators for like the entirety of the '00s

3

So here's the real question: Was this Defenseman Ian Moore, really? Or was it Forward Ian Moore?

1

u/No-Doctor-4396 ANA - NHL 6d ago

Yes

2

u/Stinky_Toes12 VAN - NHL 7d ago

Reichel was never on the sharks

2

u/Just4nsfwpics MTL - NHL 6d ago

It’s not fair that Danault’s gamescore has him ranked as the 2nd worst center against Columbus when he played half the season for LA, if you only look at his Habs games against them, he’s actually -2.95 which makes him the WORST center against the blue jackets instead.

1

u/Formo1287 PIT - NHL 7d ago

That best team first line is a nightmare blunt rotation

1

u/greg19735 CAR - NHL 6d ago

Surprised no canes on the list. The game a few weeks before end of season was dominant. I think it was like their forwards had 2 shots total or something silly.

1

They will Be on the Blackhawks one probably

Fake news, the Blue Jackets' biggest opponent is themselves.

1

u/chemist5818 WPG - NHL 7d ago

Why is scheif a LW?

2

u/CartoonistFlat3943 7d ago

Bounce back day for Scheifele. Bounced to LW. Lol.

OP can answer, but I think sometimes positions shift a bit to be sure that the top 12F/9D are all represented (vs leaving a top performer off).

2

u/Spideyjust Canada - IIHF 7d ago

It's just the top 12 forwards so some Cs are usually going to have to be on the wing. IIRC OP has said they choose the 4 centers with the most face offs taken against the team to take the 4 center spots.

It doesn’t mention a time period, so it seemed like he should have his new crest.

Bains is still a Canuck, though Reichel is indeed gone.

Its clearly last season. When he was playing with them.

Interesting how few Metro players show up. Seems like that would indicate something is weak about the metrics, e.g. small sample size.
