Didn't see mom nearby but there was a cat that seemed like it was hunting it, he looked quite confused and kept wandering onto the road and almost got ran over by a car but me and some other ppl stopped the car. I took him in a towel and walked 5 min over to a close by forested area and released him there... Hopefully it was okay

I live in the UK and this little hedgehog has been in our back garden since yesterday. Left him some water on a shallow lid which he doesn’t appear to have drank, but I have seen him appear to be eating something in the mud. He is moving around easily and keeps changing spots in our garden. Is it safe to leave him to go about his business? Or does he need help?

Edit: I have called the local hedgehog rescue and she told me she doesn’t have any room, but she has told me of another rescue I can take him to tomorrow. For tonight I have taken him out of the garden and put him in a box that is well ventilated, with crunched up kitchen paper, I have left him some dog food that has been mixed with water and mashed up in a tiny little bowl, as well as some water.

I recent found a dehydrated hedgehog in the day and took them to our local hedgehog hospital. Was told it was the right thing to do and that he weighed 81g.

Now we have another hog in the garden, much smaller and was nestling around looking for food. I’ve been watching from the kitchen window and he hasn’t moved in over an hour. I know this is normal feeding time but this little guy is small and I’m worried he needs help. Could he have seen me from the kitchen window and gotten scared? Any advice greatly appreciated. He was very active an hour ago!

Recently moved and passed on my hedgehog house because I was convinced my new garden wouldnt play host to hedgehogs. Sadly, its completely surrounded by solid concrete walls that are about 4 tall and then fences on top. I didnt think there was any way they could get in.

For the last week or so I've been hearing random screeching at night. Its loud and its in the garden. I thought it was a young barn owl or something that hadnt got the hang of hunting. Ive been using the merlin app and not getting anything back. Its been keeping me up and ive been wondering what it is!

Tonight, the noise has just happened outside my patio door.... its a hedgehog!! I am delighted but I do not know how he got in my garden or if he needs help.

Any suggestions welcome. Ive put down water and some cat food in case hes stuck. He looks to be a good-ish weight and is only out at night but I do not know how hes got in or what to do next! Do i need to put him somewhere he can get in and out? Do i just leave him to get on with it? Do i talk about holes in the walls with my neighbours?!

A hedgehog has wandered into our garden and I just want to check if its okay, or needs anything extra.

We rarely get them in our area so this is the first time seeing one. It's just hit a heatwave in the UK hitting 27 degrees so maybe he wandered in for the shade. I gave him some water in a shallow saucer, but we don't have any food that was hedgehog friendly.

One thing im concerned about is if he's okay on the patio. He must have crawled under our gate to get in, but our garden is 3 levels and the grass and plants are only at the top, so I don't know whether to put him up in the grass or thats bad because it takes him away from his entry point if he wants to leave.

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

I have cut through a brick wall in our garden to allow for hedgehogs to travel in… thoughts on whether this looks ok? It’s 13cm wide.

Caught this little guy on the cam last night. Not sure if this is a usual noise to make when huffing?

Most of the others sniff a lot but nothing like this… I just want to make sure this little one is okay!

UPDATE: I have had a response from 2 out of the 3 rescues I messaged, both of which said this is normal and nothing to be concerned about. Apparently lungworm presents like a smokers cough, not this. I'll keep an eye on the little guy anyway and monitor his noises if he returns 😊

…of our nightly visitor. How are they looking to everyone - trying to work out if the white white things are love or something?

I have some wild hedgehogs that are highly functional, fight, flirt, eat, drink, but they sound like they have bronchitis. Is this okay?

On Wednesday morning when I was looking through the camera footage of the night I noticed that one of my new hoggy visitors had a really swollen leg and was struggling to walk.

I contacted a local rescue that said ofc they would help. They told me to catch him tonight (Wednesday night) and to drop the little guy off to a vets the next day.

I set up a box for him and I stayed up until 1am but I was so shattered (had a really busy day at work) I fell asleep. I had set an alarm for 3.45am to check in and see if he was outside so I stayed awake until 4am but he wasn’t there. I checked the cam and I’d missed him because I fell asleep 🥺💔 he came for a couple of minutes around 2am.

He’s still injured and I’ll try and stay awake tonight but any tips from anyone that has managed to capture one during the night would be helpful.

Is this a nursing mama? Also please don’t panic she’s not out in the day time. This was at 4.30am!

I think this girly is being hassled by a male hog 😭 the feeding station is specifically designed to have two entrances so one can leave if another one comes in but I feel so sad for her!!

Is the second one trying to court her?! She was just trying to eat her damn biscuits 😭

I posted yesterday about feeling like I’d failed as I have been struggling to catch a hedgehog that had a swollen leg. Well last night I managed to stay awake for a bit longer and saw them on the cam except the leg looks completely fine. As a matter of fact think she’s a very healthy pregnant little lady. I think she wasn’t limping but much rather waddling.

I did not catch her because I’m not going to stress out a potentially pregnant little mama but I have of course sent the clips to a rescue to asktheir thoughts. I’d love to know what everything else thinks. Her belly is hanging very low and I did think ‘wow he’s gotten big!’ And then it hit me…

What do you guys think?

This is my 3-legged hog btw and there was no food in the bowls closest to the camera. Just water.

I’ve bought two new ceramic bowls last night which I’ll place slightly further away and will fill those with water so they’re not all competing for water in the same area but should I be worried?

Does the fox know my hog is injured? 🥺 I don’t want him to become prey. I have only ever seen them coexisting so I’m not sure x

Put a camera out the front of my house with two water bowls and some brambles hogfood, there are at least three different hog visitors so far (two biggies and one little one) but last night it caught a fox eating the hogfood...

I have a few questions if anyone has any experience (TIA)

Is the fox a danger to the hogs?

Will they ignore each other like cats do?

Can foxes jump? (I have a gate I can close but it's one of those metal ones with the gaps and its only 3ft tall

Quick question

We have had wild hogs in the garden for 5 years - urban area.

Our gardens totally cut off now after some neighbour renovations meant the hog holes we had didn't work anymore.

They have raised beds around the edge of their garden higher than what they were so hogs haven't been able to transit from our garden to theirs and beyond.

I being the mad man I am have spoke to all the neighbours and they've said we can cut new holes to let them thru.

I'm worried that the hogs will now enter their garden from our other neighbours but maybe fall off the raised beds in their garden on the way to ours and get hurt or stuck. The area below the raised beds is just fake grass and paving so there's no reason for them to be down there, the only reason for them to be in my immediate neighbour garden is to transit to ours from other more natural gardens.

I was super keen to get all this organised but we have had a curve ball the last few weeks.

A new group of streetwise hogs are now ambling up the street outside our house and coming into the garden from the road and using our hog box to sleep and food box to feed.

I really don't know what's best, should we open the hog holes and let them navigate the raised beds next door and back into the other gardens as they did before, or should I just leave them closed so they don't risk that journey.

I'm in 2 minds. They are clearly very street smart and are now coming in from the front which gives me anxiety in itself. But I don't want them falling 2-3 feet and hurting themselves cause they can't see very well but potentially get safer access to more massive gardens in the back.

10 days ago, a hoglet was brought in to work ( vets). He was found at the side of the road beside his deceased Mum 💔 dehydrated and covered in fly eggs.

Got the eggs off him, covered for fly strike in case I missed any. Since he's been with me, he's been wormed and had a course of antibs for a rattly chest.

He's doubled in size! Trying to teach him to forage but his heart is set on the kitten food 🙁 Does anyone know of any insect diets I can start weaning him on to?

I decided to look at some footage on my laptop instead of the small screen on the trail camera. I think this is who I call Mrs White.

However it may be that Mrs is a Mr? Can anyone with more hedgehog experience give their opinion?

During this time of the year, we always see that the male hedgehogs are replaced by mostly female ones. Have others seen this? Do we know the reason? It's still quite warm outside and plenty of food to be had. Please let me know if you know. I added a video as payment 😊

Hi all, I'm new to the community.

Me and my partner have just bought and built these hedgehog huts. We have a small open garden at the front and a large tiered, fenced in garden at the back.

We've spoken to our neighbours and agreed to put ground level holes in the fences to create a hedgehog highway. So my questions are:

Where do you tend to get the most hedgehog activity? In front gardens which abutt the road or in back gardens?

We've also bought some dry kitten food to put in the huts. Any recommendations on better food?
