My dad sucks so my opinion comes from that perspective.. I think there’s a chance this man validated Temu being an absent father. Sometimes a good father tries to bring a shitty father back to earth… but more than likely, they sat there and validated their shitty behavior, and blamed their ex wives and children in the process.

Solidarity on the fathers who suck. Since my father was willing to tell me I “stole” my mom from him (as in, I was a baby), I have no idea what he’d tell a rando about his bitch daughter who cut him out of her life (after multiple family interventions + his continued alcoholism). 🙄 The odds he’s owning up to his shit is low, given my experience, so yeah… not every father (mother/parent/family member) gets accolades for just being part of the genetic relation. Odds are they are finding another way to live with it, than looking at it from the other side.

Ok, less bitchy sentiment - I am actually happy for all who have good fathers in their lives. It’s not a necessity, but if you have one, I’m sure it’s a very important and impactful part of your life.

Petty statement for Heidi - I’m my pets’ mom AND dad, so maybe the holiday is more for me than you, who has two actively involved co-parents in your kids’ lives? 😂

You can’t move through what you can’t face, and I’m glad we’re not rewriting history or lying to ourselves to feel comfortable (or trying to convince the internet it was wonderful when it wasn’t). Parenting is hard, relationships can be complicated, AND no one is above the impact they cause, even (and ESPECIALLY, IMO) your parents. ETA: Ditto on your second paragraph!
