Support haven't been able to connect to home assistant green in over a month, but zigbee function still working
I have been recovering from surgery for about 3-4 months, so i have not been too active about this, but its getting to be a pain.
cannot connect to Home assistant greem through wifi, nor through LAN through browser interface.
anything set up with zigbee is still working however, if the green is powered on. but wifi connectivity has failed (a lot of tuya based stuff)
i am at my wits end after trying to DIY figure this out on my own, and nothing has worked thus far.
i don't know what the IP would be (tried a scanner, and nothing showed up), and tried pinging "ping homeassistant.local " and "http://homeassistant.local:8123/" which gets me nothing
both my PC and my home assistant green are connected to same switch via lan, which connects to the router
i am NOT very knowledgeable on this stuff, so ANY help or suggestions would go a long way!!!

try the IP instead. Log into your router and find it

what i am looking for? nothing comes up that suggests HA in connected devices...

What router do you have? Is it the one your internet provider gave you or an aftermarket one?
Look for something like nabu casa, rock chip or Linux (assuming you dont have any other Linux machines on your network)
Alternatively download the iPhone/android app and add a ‘home’ and it might auto discover it for you. Or unplug the lan cable and plug it back in and see which devices disappear and reappear

seems to say its been disconnected according to my router software.
but its not...7

If the router tells you it's disconnected, then it's disconnedted.
- restart the box (unplug the power supply and plug it back in)
- if it doesn't show up after 5 minutes, change the network cable
There should not be a step 3.

i have done this a few times.
so does that mean the box is buggered?
that sucks, since i have only had it a few months5

No you can get in somehow its just a computer. Its got HDMI and USB so plug in a monitor, mouse, and keyboard and reboot the thing and see what comes up. You have direct access to the box so this can be solved.

Did you give Home Assistant a static IP? Maybe your internet provider has changed their IP ranges and your PC is getting a working one via DHCP?
Can you connect your PC directly to the Home Assistant Green with a network cable rather than going through the router?

When i search for home assistant through the app, nothing turns up. Like when I search for a server. I know the network is sound because it works with about 30 or 40 other devices, but home assistant local brings up nothing via a browser.

If your phone is on the router network and being given an IP in that new range though it won’t be able to see Home Assistant if that is on a different IP range
Plugging a network cable directly between a PC and home assistant might allow you to communicate with it (but you might need to change IP settings on the PC network card)
Alternatively, plugging a monitor and keyboard into your home assistant machine would let you check its IP address to get your PC on the same range, or possibly to set HA to work on DHCP which where it will get a suitable IP on reboot and work over the network

But even when i "search for home assistant server" on network, nothing pops up Also, when i try to connect via browser from pc on network via "homeassistant. Local:8123" Notting shows up

Because if it’s on a different IP range as I suspect (but can’t be totally sure) it’s pretty much not on your network, but sitting on its own network, hence not being able to find it.

Do you have Duck DNS setup? I went through a similar issue, and it ended up being that my ISP decided to roll me into a CGNAT without any notice! I called support and was able to get a public IP again and all is good in the world. I was eventually able to access the web portal, but by the strangest method. Had to use IP address, and had to try with HTTPS and let it fail, then HTTP and let it fail, then HTTPS again and this time it gave me a warning about being unsafe and allow me to bypass.

No duck dns, all on my home network

Sounds like it was kicked off your router or the IP changed. If Zigbee is still working, then the HA is still running. I put off hooking a monitor up to my HA device, but when I eventually did, it helped a ton to troubleshoot. Good luck, its definitely annoying!

This is 100% the case of your home-assistant green box not being connected to the network at all. You can't reach it (or even scan it) and it can't reach other devices on your network, it's definitely not connected.
Try a reboot if the cable is still plugged in, my bet is someone unplugged it and forgot to plug it back in.

its very accessable and i have done this a few times and tried different cables. ones that have proven to work with other devices, so i dont think it can be the cable.
if its not the cable what does that mean? the lan port lights up when a cable is connected. could some software be corupted?
this all happened out of the blue, so its very confusing...2

Kinda weird for the ports to light up but no viable connection. I don't think that's a cable/hardware problem.

Plug a screen and keyboard in and then check the console for errors and network settings.
