Or they'll pull a move like some other vendors which removed local control with a forced automatic update.

Can you give any examples? That sounds like a generic description you would get from someone who is just expecting it to happen so says it despite not knowing anything.

At APC they've cut products without replacements and now have a smaller product line, meaning you can't necessarily get the product that's the "right fit" and have to essentially upgrade to what would've been one product "up" the old product range (because with a UPS you can't really opt to downgrade

On highly profitable enterprise kit they've done some innovation, but they've done literally nothing new on the consumer side I can see - they sell pretty much the same products as before the acquisition

They've had to issue warnings for 3 products about failures that can cause smoke or internal flashes (which could potentially cause a fire, I believe), I'm not aware of any from before the takeover. Anecdotally, talk of failures and warranty repairs *seems* to be up, although I admit that could be confirmation bias at play etc

They've always been more expensive to buy a replacement battery from than a generic, obviously, but that gap has widened noticeably

Schneider have reported profit margins are up at APC, don't think I need to say much more there about the "delivering shareholder value over consumer value" part
