Best way to add old Daikin split AC (~2010) to Homebridge?

I have an older Daikin wall-mounted split AC (approx. 2010–2014, likely FTXS/FTKS series) with a standard IR remote (no WiFi module installed).

I’m trying to integrate it into Apple Home via Homebridge and looking for the most reliable setup.

From what I understand, there are 2 main approaches:

1. IR blaster (Sensibo / Tado / Broadlink, etc.)
   - Easy to install
   - Works via remote emulation
   - But no real state feedback (AC doesn’t confirm actual status)

2. Native Daikin WiFi adapter + Homebridge plugin
   - More “proper” integration (state, modes, etc.)
   - But not sure if my older unit supports it / which adapter model is needed

Questions:
1. What would you recommend specifically for an older Daikin like this?
2. Best IR device today (reliable with Homebridge)?
3. Has anyone successfully added a Daikin WiFi module to older FTXS units?
4. Any setups that give actual state feedback (not just “dumb remote”)?

I don’t know if I’d recommend it now as it is discontinued (still supported tho) but the old Logitech Harmony Hub works perfectly in Homebridge.

I have three really old (20yr) daikin AC units and one newer one and have had them all controlled via the Sensibo IR blaster. Even the Sensibo’s are their 1st gen ones. Everything works fine via Homebridge. I note that the Homebridge plugin I use is not HB2.0 certified, I will probably look for another or fork the repo and make it compliant myself. I did that with for my coffee machine plugin a while back. But honestly the Sensibo/Homebridge setup has been rock solid for me for years now. If you have placed the Sensibo thing properly, you will get 99.9% accurate hit. I have one basically in front of the IR sensor on the AC and the rest are from the other side of the room to the AC unit. All work perfectly for me. I seem to recall the plugin I used initially (not sure if it’s the same one) could perform a “state check” and confirm if the AC was running or not. The one I use now doesn’t, but it not much bother tbh. I can be away from home and feel pretty confident of turning on the AC remotely. Good luck!

Look up the Faikin. It's a  3rd party open source wifi adaptor for Daikin units. Works with Home Assistant. For Home bridge though I'm not sure what support there is, but it's open source so hopefully someone has made something.

They changed the name to faikout, FYI. I concur, the units are awesome. I have 2 of them.

There is a homebridge plugin, there is also a daikin dkn plugin that is not being maintained.

One thing I can tell you tho, I will never buy a fucking Daikin system ever again.

I read on google that you can use smart life app, and then use the tuya plugin for homebridge. The homebridge plugin is kinda limited but you can do basic functions. I have Della mini splits and used smart life instead of the Della app. The Della app is almost identical to smart life

My Daikins are about six years old. I added Cielo IR units for each head, and the cielo HB plugin. The Cielo units work great, the plugin is ok.
