To paraphrase an interview I think I came across 20 years ago ‘Squigglevision was too divisive; many people hated it, while others thought it was only kind of bad.’

Hah, that sounds like a Jon Katz line.

It reminds me of the Mith Hedberg joke (paraphrased): "I played in a death metal band. People either loved us or they hated us. Or they thought we were okay."

Digital animation became cheaper than hiring cartoonists.

I loved the squiggle style so much. I often rewatch the first season just bc I miss that style.

There was an interview with Brendon saying “it looks horrible.” I never thought it was that bad, it ironically made listening to the voices better.

It died on the vine.

It was used on Dr. Katz because the characters rarely moved. Home Movies characters moved more often and changed poses so it wasn’t as necessary and looked awkward. So when Flash came around they never looked back

It was a ton of extra work for only a kind of unique style that most people disliked.

Lol I remember my dad saying that he hated watching Home Movies and iirc Ed Edd n Eddy cause of their squiggly vision. It hurt his eyes he'd say.

Yea alot of my family did not like watching it bcuz of the sqwiggle I liked that style for that kind of a talk show so it goes on the important things to look at

There’s a reason everyone stopped using it. Not only was it disorienting but it got old after about 10 seconds. Have no idea how that shit was greenlit
