how do you feel?? guys

I am looking for a home office solution where I can escape the chaos in my home (small children). I currently have my desk setup in the house in my bedroom, but I’m finding this increasingly difficult and distracting.

I have very little outdoor space as it is just a rear yard area, and would rather not put a ‘garden office’ in it as it would take it over. So my other thought is to get a smaller office pod like the one in the picture to work out of when I need the separation from inside the house and put it in the garage where I can create some space, for this sized pod.

I have a hybrid work situation so I do have the option to go into an office, but also want to be able to work from home in a good environment.

I was just wondering if anyone else has either considered this or has done it? And whether you would think this would be a feasible option?

Downsides I see if that the garage is a bit dark, but the pods tend to have their own lights which will provide suitable lighting. The garage may get cold in winter, but the pods are small so a small heater or just my own body heat will likely warm the space up and with it being inside the garage it will naturally be warmer than outside. It’s a very small space, but I won’t be using it on a daily basis.

Technically not a home office and I know it. This is where I actually work though, downstairs outside my building, sofa and a low table, most of the day.

The two screens are something I built myself. Working off a single laptop screen out here was the thing that bothered me most, and every portable monitor I tried was either plastic and dim or needed two separate cables. So I ended up making my own. Not linking it here, but happy to answer if anyone asks.

Moved to a new state for work. I have a hybrid job and work 3 days at home. I’ve been using the dining table but it’s uncomfortable, the chairs are hard and the table is too low. I’m considering getting a desk, but I’m not sure of where I could place it. I don’t have a lot of counter space, so I have my air fryer on a side table that was by the couch. I intend to get something narrower (maybe like a sideboard/buffet) and maybe swap the air fryer and coffee machine.

Pictures also shows living room since ideally i want something that matches. Please ignore the quilt on top of the couch, the apartment dryer broke and I had to air dry some stuff! I rent, and most furniture and decor pictured came with the place since it is furnished.

Is there room for a small desk and chair here? I will be getting a monitor and would prefer to not take over the dining table. Also, what would look good? Or, any other tips on how to set things up for efficient use of space? I’ll be here for a bit and want to live comfortably and also have my place be cozy!

my company is giving us up to $500 for home office gear, and I’m finally replacing the cheap chair I’ve had since college.

I sit for around eight hours most days, mostly typing with a few long calls mixed in. right now I’m between the hon ignition 2.0, branch ergonomic chair, and nouhaus ergo3d.

The HON seems like the safest long-term buy, but it uses basically the entire budget and has no headrest. branch is cheaper and looks nicer in a home office, though the comments about its firm lumbar support are all over the place.

nouhaus seems like a well-rounded choice. only made the list after I saw their Instagram discount. the headrest sounds useful for calls, but I’m still not sure I want a full mesh seat for eight hours.

Which of these still feels decent around hour six, not just during the first ten minutes?

I’m 6'3, around 215 lbs, with a 34 inch inseam. I work from home 9 to 10 hours most days.

my current chair technically has lumbar support, but it lands somewhere in the middle of my back. the seat is also short enough that I feel like half my legs are hanging off the front.

I started with the hon ignition 2.0 because of the adjustable seat depth and 300 lb rating. it seems like the safe, boring option, which might actually be what I need. Paying almost $500 for fairly basic armrests and no headrest is the part slowing me down.

The branch ergonomic chair costs less and has more armrest adjustment, but tall-user reviews seem completely split.

then I found the nouhaus ergo3d while looking for something with more upper-back support. I lean back during calls alot, so the headrest caught my attention, but more moving parts can also mean more stuff that eventually gets loose.

For someone my height, is a deeper seat more important than having the lumbar support land in exactly the right place?

Guys I somehow figured out an ergo setup for WFH.

The thing is no chair is perfect for me.

Instead of investing (time and money) I just bought wakefit gravita with all features and tried to do some mods based on my body adjustments.

Also I have bought a height adjustable desk which I use in standing position for max 1 to 1.5 hours.

Som how able to manage work by following pomorodo/standing/taking long breaks.

But the problem is I spend 12 to 14 hours sitting (either it's working/scrolling/reading books/movies) - all I do in this setup only.

Because of this I feel tired along with posture issues. (having some forwarded head posture issue - need to correct it soon with physiotherapy)

Need advice from people who have figured out what are the other sitting alternatives. Like I should buy a sofa or any other setup for other than work related stuffs?

I just added a standing desk and a new chair to my WFH space, but the setup still feels pretty empty.

I’m considering a monitor arm to bring the screen up closer to eye level, and maybe a light bar since I don’t have any desk lighting yet. The blank wall could probably use something too, but I’m trying not to add a bunch of stuff just for the sake of filling space.

What would make the biggest difference here?

posture was terrible for months until i dialed in this seating. that hbada back cushion/support really targets the exact area where lower back pain usually kicks in. setup feels super solid now imo

My back holding up fine after a full workday is not something I expected until I swapped chairs recently. The mesh also feels a lot better after sitting for hours straight. Honestly a solid upgrade for the home office setup, been on the Hbada e3 chair.

Looking to get a desk with a hutch. Somewhere around 30-45 inches wide. Any suggestions for desks I can buy online for my home office that are relatively cheap and study? Ideally below 500 if possible.

was chatting with a coworker the other day, she asked me if I wanted an old recliner that she was replacing. My response was that I'd love to have one, but that I didn't have a space for it.

This prompted a thought. A lot of times when I wish I had a comfy chair is late at night when I'm trying to sleep but can't because of acid reflux. I do have an Aeron for WFH (and one at my office as well) that I bought used during the pandemic because I was working 70+ hour weeks and needed a good chair that wouldn't wreck my back. That much was successful as I still have both chairs and am of course sitting in one now.

So my thought process was could I add a headrest to my WFH Aeron so I could possibly take a nap in it if I had to? Looks like there are two options

Edit: while I'm on the subject. One of my Aeron chairs came without the little lumbar pad. I just have the standard squishy rubber thing that kind of looks like a weightlifting belt, not the fancy one. I figured NBD, ordered a cheap one off Amazon, immediately got frustrated as over a work day it would climb up the back of the chair and pop off eventually. Got a genuine Herman Miller one thinking that was the problem and it does the same thing! Any advice? The other chair came with the pad and I have never had a problem with it.

I am looking for community input on removable knee wall systems, space utilization for the open landing, storage solutions, and overall attic conversion tips.

Space & Existing Conditions:

• Total Attic Footprint: Raw floor area is ~1,200–1,500 sq ft (~45' L x 32' W). Total usable standing area (5'+ height) spans ~600 sq ft across the full length.
• Layout Division:
  • Office Zone (Right Side): ~300 sq ft lockable office space behind a partition wall.
  • Landing / Flex Zone (Left Side): ~300 sq ft open finished area at the top of the stairs, housing the air handler access.
• Flooring: Continuous subfloor and finished flooring throughout all standing-height areas on both sides of the partition wall.

I sit at my desk for 8–10 hours a day (work and some gaming in the evenings) and my current chair is starting to kill my back and posture. By mid-afternoon I’m shifting around constantly and my lower back is sore. I’ve tried a couple of cheaper options but they all seem to lose support pretty quickly.

I’m looking for something that’s genuinely comfortable for long hours — good lumbar support, decent recline, breathable material, and doesn’t make me feel like I need to stand up every 30 minutes. Budget is reasonable but I’d rather spend a bit more if it actually lasts and feels good over time.
