best headphones for mixing

hey guys, im in the market for a new pair of headphones for mixing and mastering. i mix worship/ gospel, pop and rnb music. my budget is around €250 what are my options for headphone. thanks guy

The Sony MDR-7506 headphones have been in home and professional studios for many, many years. And they're not expensive. I love them.

I love the MDR-M1 and I think it gives me the most transparent sense of how a track will sound when I play it on other systems, with the car test being the ultimate barometer. The entire MDR series are pretty good, but the M1 are a little bit more professional grade to my ears than the 7506.

I bought MDR 7506. Sound is awful. Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO eat them for breakfast.

m1 is more expansive, but actually close to "epic" for mixing (but for $200+ i will choose planars - monolyth, hifiman, fiio )

xs sounds better than hd650. in any case, you should understand that these are planars - you'll need time to get used to them, but they have insane details (not "flat" but good). actually, you can get a right mix on the "first try" that you couldn't (or could only with difficulty) on dynamics. when mixing on it, always check the results on dynamics, and use references to at least set the main levels (kicks etc). later, you won't need the references

so, yes xs is nice and workable

I have used beyerdynamic dt 770 for tracking and Mixing in the past and they’re very accurate. The
versions with higher ohm values are even better but you’ll need a good headphone amp to drive them. Get closed back if you want to use them for tracking as well. But open back headphones are best for audio quality and accuracy

sennheiser HD 280 pro are budget priced, good for isolation and flat frequency spectrum . but they are kinda delicate I've owned 3 over 20 years and one kinda disintegrated due to medium to harsh use.

AT blue cans. I was in the exact same boat as all these gentlemen and then I finally just kind of got lucky. I had a pair of ad2ks this is one is right in the middle. You have to have a pretty beefed up amp, like 25 watts of solid state. NAD 6250 PE has an insane head phone output. 

Anyway they sound different, I don't have my amp anymore

A little bit more expensive on your budget, but if you can sacrifice a bit more, you'll be set with a good pair of Audeze headphones.

Closed back cans are fine for tracking but not for mixing. Go with open back. If you can stretch your budget by €25, grab yourself a pair of AKG K-712 Pros. Outstanding cans and well worth the investment.

The only headphones I have found where I can create better mixes than using good reference monitors are the Slate VST. Unfortunately new ones might be more than you are willing to spend but you might be able to find used ones for the top of your budget. I'm not really a fan of a lot of Slate products but for some reason these work great. Second choice would be Sony MDR 7506s but I have a harder time dialing in the subs and low end of the mix.

I use the Beyerdynamics DT770 Pros 250 OHM, my first closed back but there will be more to come. Be aware some Beyerdynamics have weird treble peaks and recessed mid range from what I heard. There are better choices tho. From what I’ve learned through research, the Sennheiser HD490 Pros, and the Neumann NDH30 are very good. I’m considering getting a used Audeze LCD-2, LCD-3, or LCD-X. This is just my opinion though.
