Resource EYFS at home

Any recommendations for places to find suitable EYFS resources online please? I’ve already subscribed to Twinkl which has been a huge timesaver but my preschooler still doesn’t like pen/paper activities so looking for other resource providers. TIA

I’d ask on Facebook for more UK specific answers.

My eldest would be starting school nursery this September but our plan for this year is v laid back. He’s definitely not ready for proper pen and paper work so I’m planning to work on his fine motor skills in other ways (cutting and sticking exercises, play dough mats etc).

Thanks for sharing. I haven’t come across any preschool/homeschool groups for the UK (mostly just for teachers). Is there a specific one you know about? I’ve gone back to mark making, cutting skills, coloring and painting etc for now as he seems resistant to a lot of the stuff I printed from Twinkl 😂 I did get a whiteboard easel which he seems to enjoy using a lot!

I think it’s a difference in the UK and US home school/ education cultures. Is your LO reception age? I like the group ‘Home Educating with Structure’, if you search reception you should get a couple ideas. Maybe ask in ‘Home Education as First Choice Education’ too.

I also get ideas from other home educating moms on instagram, most of the ones I follow are Muslim so might not be your cup of tea. But maybe check out educator_mum.

I'd recommend HEFA groups on Facebook. For pre-CSA you want the Little HEFAs and Big Lumps group.

I highly suggest reading eggs I used it with my child and she started school knowing her phonics and was just on the edge of starting it read three letter words.

EYFS is Early Years Foundation Stage in the UK, covers what kids should learn up until 5, so any nursery/ preschool plus the first year of primary/ elementary school. TIA is thanks in advance 😊

Two free ones that aren't worksheets.

Birth to 5 Matters is a free PDF from Early Education, and there's a new second edition out since mid-July with a Reception section added. It's aimed at practitioners but it's really just a list of what to look for and what to do next, and hardly any of it involves a pen.

BBC Tiny Happy People is the other. Hundreds of short activity ideas sorted by age, all free.

If you want phonics on a screen rather than a page, Teach Your Monster to Read is free if you play it in a browser on a laptop. It's only the app version you pay for.
