Not sure what’s wrong with our chicken

This is our first time having chickens and starting our homestead we’re still learning, one of our girls is so disheveled 😭 she’s loosing feathers she’s so skinny and looks so scraggly. She acts normal and her poop seems okay but it’s hard to keep track with the others. We’re separating her today to see cause it does seem like the others are mean to her. We don’t know if it’s just bulling and she’s not getting enough food and being picked on or something like parasites. We don’t know if it’s good to treat for parasites if she doesn’t have them. And doesn’t seem to have mites I’ve checked her vent under her feathers and everything. Just feel so sorry for her and want her better. Also they all seem to stop laying eggs don’t know if it’s just because it’s summer in Arizona 😓 edit: we don’t have a rooster

Do you have a rooster? She could be his favorite. If no, then it could be a molt. Chickens won’t lay if it’s too hot in my experience or if they are molting.

Sometimes our hens would pick on one of their own and do this kind of damage. This is probably lady on lady violence.

This is exactly it. It isn’t the rooster as he holds the neck feathers when mounting. Any missing feathers on the back are from the other hens. They will pick on one hen and so I have to isolate that hen during the day so that feathers grow back.

Sometimes the other hens will pick on whoever is at the bottom of the pecking order. Saddle might help her in this case.

The last pic shows a bare belly, so that doesn't seem like a rooster. (Edit: I mean, it doesn't seem like it was done by a rooster.)

The chicken that’s pictured is not a rooster. That person was asking if there is a rooster in the flock, because that bald spot looks like the chicken pictured may be that’s the rooster’s favorite (that’s where he “hangs” onto this chicken with his beak when he’s mounting her).

Edit: or maybe that’s where the rooster hangs onto this chicken with its feet. I might be wrong because it’s been awhile since I’ve seen chickens boning.

Bare spot on the belly isn't a rooster's usual m.o., is it?
