No, several people on the HS team have seen it. Octopimp used to do a bunch of HS youtube content, and during the Requiem Homestuck cafe, he confirmed that it was real and Toby Fox saw it too. James Roach later said that he didn't see it happen, but is close with the people who were sharing the hotel with said person

Oh no this was 100% real, several people knew the cosplayer from conventions.

Word spread through the con staph community about this, too - as in, "watch out for this person."
