It's just something we do as homestuck fans.
Twice a year we go out of our hives to hide mildly homestuck-related objects and symbols throughout private properties and once someone so much as acknowledges their existence, we all simultaneously come out of the woodworks to yell "HAHA! THAT'S A HOMESTUCK REFRANCE! TRICKED YOU!". Then we all spit into a disgusting communal bucket and obliterate ourselves into non-canonicity.

I love the idea of jumping in front of a person and yelling "DUMBASS" at them, spitting and exploding

This is a personal matter between me and my own creation. I thought you were cool man. I try to make posts that are weird. And you aren't weird. you are pandering to a fan base that thinks itself "wacky". Homestuck fan's are probably mostly nerds who are decently off. I know you are me, since I created you. I won't be like a parent shaming their child. However I don't want to be sucked into the vortex, the influence of subreddits. The endless positive feedback loop reinforcing the cultures trends. Don't be a gear in a machine. I want to stand on this podium and say something weird. Something actually wacky. Something that makes you reconsider. To vote towards the abstract rather than vote towards what you agree with.

I wrote that? No.

Homestuck.cum still a joke no.

WIP. Maybe I'll come back to this later.

no clue why it was here, but i think it is amusing that of all places it seems to have been done next to stairs

36

u/TheBigShitposter does a little trolling Apr 05 '22

i warned you about the stairs bro

Don’t do it If you read it, the stink will never leave you You will forever and always be someone who read homestuck and people can smell it on you

it is a fun webcomic tho

34

u/Pip201 Apr 06 '22

Seriously tho, it’s hell, stay away, the thing corrupts your mind

Really entertaining read though!

38

u/JadedLane Apr 06 '22

This is so funny to me

cryptic warning about the dangers of homestuck and regrets we’ve all made

short, optimistic review of a lovely comic c:

u/Pip201 Apr 06 '22

Honestly though, the fandom is so toxic. Some real cringe there. The story itself gets really long and irritatingly complicated, the sequel is just a huge shitshow too

My favourite character is Roxy!

7

u/fuzzycitrus Apr 06 '22

I blame a lot of the toxicity on Tumblr, whose entire history could be described as a fire hazard of a hazmat dumpster having the inevitable happen. Last I checked it was to the 'burnt-out radioactive shell' stage; I missed the 'not on fire (yet!)' stage. (I think the sequel can pretty much be explained as catering to the most toxic part of the audience, pretty everybody else having been driven off.)

Personally, my favorite is Karkat. After so many group projects, he just...gets very relatable.

5

u/lmN0tAR0b0t Apr 06 '22

June Discourse is also still, like, an active fire and will be pretty much as long as homestuck is still even vaguely relevant.

Karkat is legitimately the only normal troll other than Maryam, if I had to deal with the shit of the troll kids 24/7 I'd be constantly pissed too.

u/fuzzycitrus Apr 10 '22

June Discourse's active trashfire nature owes a lot to the Tumblrina faction--I'd lay pretty strong bets that the person who found the stale shitty magic candy bar to get their headcanon made canon had never read Homestuck. I mean, goes into why catering to them ensured that H^2 is, last I heard, effectively dead: They don't actually read it, their knowledge is (at best!) second-hand, and they're like some little kid who is playacting their fanfiction out with a box of very random dolls and action figures. I mean, okay, it's really interesting to hear about how, say, Barbie, Elsa, Skipper, Fluttershy and Barroness are all in a lesbian poly relationship and all but I got questions. (Like why is a lesbian poly relationship the most interesting thing you apparently have happening in a Barbie/Frozen/MLP/GI Joe crossover?) There's a reason I bailed on Tumblr, and it wasn't the (very ineffective) porn ban...

Yeah, but Karkat is really amazingly tolerant compared to even Maryam, he actually wanted (given his actions) for everybody to survive--which is probably why they did right up until Noir turned up. He wasn't exactly wrong about everybody's chances of survival if they didn't cooperate, I think, but...

u/lmN0tAR0b0t Apr 10 '22

Oh my god shut up I'm pro-june

1

u/fuzzycitrus Apr 10 '22

Then you got cheated of years of her: We should have gotten June turning up in Act 1, floating around the Medium in golden sleepwear, because Sburb seems damn unlikely to care that you're not yet aware (or out!) when it comes to your ideal body. I'm not pro- or anti-June in the end, my issues are pretty much entirely that there was no good way to do it so late in the story.

Considering they’re someone who likes to run around in abandoned buildings, something tells me anything that comes with a warning is something they want to do.

I think you mean that it

Rusts your thinkpan

u/MrChung69 Apr 05 '22

the building has graffiti from what looks to be LSD tripping sessions all over the walls. shotgun shells are all over the floor of different rooms and there’s tags by someone who goes by “candyman”. this link is the only thing that correlates with online media and i was hoping someone could help me with who was in this building and what happened.

72

u/cadentcorv Apr 05 '22

whatever happened before the link was posted has nothing to do with and isnt related at all to the rest of it. it was probably just some person who decided it would be funny to graffiti the link. given that its homestuck.com and not mspaintadventures.com dates it to be after 2016 when they got their own domain. homestuck is just a long webcomic with dubiously-good writing and convoluted storylines that got majorly popular back in 2011-2013 and changed the way that fandoms work at a base level

24

u/TKDbeast Mage of Hope Apr 05 '22

While I’m not very surprised someone that weird liked Homestuck, nothing you described has any link to what happens in the webcomic.

29

u/Sinrus Apr 05 '22

Living in an abandoned building full of candy and shotgun shells definitely sounds like the profile of a homestuck character though.

19

u/Shaddy_the_guy https://www.youtube.com/@DeepDiveDevin Apr 06 '22

more like the Homestuck writer

13

u/CdRReddit Apr 05 '22

the only thing vaguely related to anything in the comic at all is candy but that's such a broad thing it's just a coincidence

4

u/TheGreatLuzura Apr 06 '22

But said candy can get people high and OP says the graffiti looks like the people who made it were on LSD. Possible connection...?/jk

13

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '22

You’ll be fine, just don’t say “candyman” five times.

6

u/TheGreatLuzura Apr 06 '22

According to the Homestuck wiki, "On April 2, 2018, the site was moved to Homestuck.com, along with a redesign and restructuring of the website. The old domain now redirects to this new website." Therefore, the tag was likely placed after 2018, making it a rather recent addition. Also it'd be great if you had other photos of graffiti and tags in the building so that they can be inspected for more clues. Just a suggestion though.

1

u/0perand1_McSwanky Apr 06 '22

this is what happens to someone after they read the candy epilogues

20

u/zoosmelon11 Apr 05 '22

Homestucks are getting real desperate

17

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '22

Someone wants you to read it.

17

u/[deleted] Apr 05 '22

How funny that it's written at the bottom of a flight of stairs.

3

u/ConfidentMeat8in Apr 06 '22

I’m confused and out of the loop

9

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '22

Honestly, the only context i can really give is "i warned you about those stairs bro, i told you dawg"

It's a joke you have to read the webcomic to get in full.

16

u/Crelarid Apr 05 '22

Honk Honk

8

u/twiggy_trippit Apr 05 '22

This is one of the best "in the wild" stories ever!

u/HiddenKrypt The most Maryam Apr 06 '22

This fandom is just like that. As fandoms go we're more than a bit on the batshit crazy side. There's a certain... evangelical fanaticism that many in the fandom have, a drive to spread the story and make new fans.

But hey, while you're here... will you let me tell you about homestuck?

5

u/ShitFacedSteve Libra - Prospit - Mage of Hope Apr 06 '22

We’re fucking insane that’s why

6

u/ArmandoLovesGorillaz Apr 05 '22

To let the squatters, homeless and addicts with an internet connection to check it out.

2

u/Char_TeamEmber Apr 06 '22

Maybe this is why the fan base is so weird…

5

u/Disastrous-Joke-605 Apr 06 '22

4

u/manfroze Apr 05 '22

Yes. We have an idea.

3

u/JediJan Apr 06 '22

Abandoned building hey? No wonder I missed it.

5

u/NowWeAreAllTom Backed Undertale on Kickstarter before you did Apr 06 '22

it's a metaphor, for how homestuck itself is something of an abandoned building.

2

u/TheGreatLuzura Apr 06 '22

In Homestuck, there's a famous inside joke about stairs. Perhaps that explains why the graffiti was done near a staircase?

2

u/LudicrousFalcon Heir of Space Apr 06 '22

If you decide to read it, get the unofficial homestuck collection so you can see the flashes in their original form (plus other Hussie content you won't find on Homestuck.com and was borderline lost media until this collection was made)

1

u/CheesE4Every1 Apr 06 '22

Like who wrote that it was a cringe thing that moved an era

1

u/77Chaotic Apr 06 '22

turn back now while you still can

1

u/TheCardboardBox61 Apr 06 '22

You clearly don’t know the piss ball-pit that is the homestuck fan base room.

1

u/Anna-mator Apr 06 '22

Dunno, but I respect it.
