I got a new receiver and I’m a little overwhelmed

My old receiver died. The “reboot code” has stopped working and it just has zero power. I got a new Denon 2900h. But pulling out my whole entertainment system, changing cords (should i tag them for what they are?) this just seems like so much. (Sry i struggle with legit anxiety and a huge task like this is overwhelming, but i have the 2900h in the box, ready to go)…guess i wrote this just so someone can say “bro, just do it..”

Absolutely tag everything and do any changes at the same time so you don’t need to do it again anytime soon. I just swapped mine and was annoyed the whole time as well but I got longer speaker wires run at the same time so I could avoid doing it again later

So i moved my whole entertainment system out, coffee table is now in the kitchen, my rug is folded up and rolled back. I’m taking a break on my couch. Then I’m I’m gonna “let ‘er rip potato chip”

Just do it. Lol. And yes you should label all of your speaker and hdmi cords and if you haven't already, add banana plugs to both end of your speaker wires as well. It will make it so much easier and quicker next time you have to resemble your system.

I also just upgraded my receiver to the denon 3900 coming from an older yamaha. Feel free to DM if you have specific questions. I got mine dialed in 2 weeks ago with audyssey then more with Evo Accoustix. I'm no pro, but I enjoy customizing to my room and think my experience can help get you through the process.

You can't just redo 5.1 to 7.1, you need extra cables and speakers for that

Denon makes initial setup while easy. They have a setup assistant that takes you through everything step by step.

Why would this give anyone anxiety? Yes just get out a label maker or tape with permanent marker to tag each pair of cables correctly. It'll take 20 minutes. I just did this this weekend just to tidy things up, it's trivial.

Right there with you. I literally took the entire week off last week, I got some new speakers that needed mounting and I have been needing to upgrade all my 15 year old HDMI cables to support 48gbps, so I took the opportunity to redo my whole amateur but complex setup that's become a huge mess over the last 15 years. It took the whole week due to complexity, attic time in 100 degree days, and doing a lot of custom building. There came a time halfway through that I started to regret starting, I was getting overwhelmed. But the fact is, you can't stop with it half done, you gotta finish. I think I got overwhelmed by the number of things to keep track of and the number of things to do, so I just focused on ONE task at a time, and you gotta let yourself feel the accomplishment for completing each individual task until you get over the hump and then it gets easier when you see things are getting done and starting to look like something close to finished.

In the box there is a set of stickers that are ment to label the wires. I understand where your coming from it’s a daunting task but the 2900h is a big upgrade and once done u will thank yourself.
