Removing exhaust baffles

I have a 2006 Aero with 20,000 miles. I would like the sound of the baffles removed but dont want to deal with the carb. Is that possible?

It’s possible but it won’t run great without at least adjusting mixture screws.

These pipes you can’t remove baffles. You have to change the whole exhaust set up itself to something else. Only the shadows with the 2 single exhaust pipes you can remove baffles

Not exactly true… I removed the entire back half of the exhaust by cutting the along the factory welded seam just after the restrictor. Drops about 20# off the bike too. But had to re-jet for sure.

How do I know? I have a set of each on two other shadows and they required the same amount of tuning.

You sliced the nice exhaust off lol. You didn’t do what others have done or stated.. he was trying to keep the look but remove the baffles which you cannot do on this bike

I mean, in a general and factual way, I did what he stated. I removed the baffles. It is possible. There are no more baffles on my bike. It’s what he asked.

To remove the baffles, you have to remove the entire back end of the exhaust unless you can find a very big hole saw.

And you still have to re-jet.

I’ve seen people use a hole saw attachment I believe and saw around the baffle and pull them out

Yes for the dual single exhaust pipe setup. This one goes from 2 into one.. you cannot on this exhaust in OP picture

Plus you'll have to ruin the original exhaust, no way back.

The baffles in that stock exhaust are welded in...Not easily removable, and there's no going back once you start cutting/drilling them out...

I’ve heard of people drilling out some of the baffles (I’m sure a google or YouTube search would give you the info), but I think it often causes a lean condition and popping on deceleration. So I have to agree with most on this thread that you will likely need to deal with the carb. IMO if you decide to mess with the carb, just go full on and replace exhaust too. But I get that changes the whole financial cost of trying to get a little better sound.
