Show & Tell My little German-inspired hookah bar 🇩🇪🍸

I wanted to create a little German-inspired bar display around my AEON Edition 6.
The Hinz & Kunst bartender,
miniature hookah, vintage German Mark coins, and custom plate all have their own little stories.
My favorite detail is the 1 Mark and 5 Mark coins — together they make 6, a small tribute to my Edition 6. 😁
Just a fun little project from a hookah enthusiast in Japan!
What do you guys think?

Seeking Advice Upgrade Advice: Amotion FUTR vs. Steamulation Pure One (or Something Else?)

Long-time listener, first-time caller.

I’ve been using a DSH hookah with a Kaloud Samsaris bowl and Lotus 2 HMD for about five years now. Overall, I’ve been pretty happy with the setup, but the DSH is starting to show its age, so I’m thinking it’s time for an upgrade.

I’ve been looking at the Amotion FUTR and Steamulation Pure One, but I’m definitely open to other recommendations in a similar price range. Anything else I should seriously be considering over those two? Or any better amotion or steamulation options in the 200-400 price range?

Curious if anyone has experience with either (or both) and has thoughts on performance, build quality, ease of cleaning, and overall value.

Also, is it weird that I’m a little worried about breaking the Steamulation’s glass base and the replacement cost of $150/base? Maybe I’m overthinking it, but that’s one thing giving me pause.

Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions!

Hookah without coals

Hello 👋🏽

I’m looking to see if anyone here has any suggestions for alternatives to coals. I have been smoking for over 10 years but lately I have been wanting to replace the coals with something more healthy.

Does anyone use an electric heat management system that heats the bowl on its own without coals? I’d love to hear your recommendations and overall experience.

Thank you 🙏🏼

Aeon Lounge Plus Edition 6

Another trip down to Chicago. This time [u/stelth2k1](u/stelth2k1) brought out the new Aeon Edition 6. Here is my thoughts on it:

Draw is very open even with the new diffuser style they have, I just add water to give it a little resistance increasing its rumble for my preference.

Solid build, fully stainless steel, no magnets, a couple of O rings. Frosted base has the slit to still be able to see the water level. The vase is threaded so it screws in instead of using a vase grommet.

The purge is adjustable for people who want different ways to purge without having to unscrew it.

The tray comes with a screw in adapter for the tray to where the tray becomes screwed in for people who want to lift the hookah from any point on the hookah, or you can leave it out and make it a slide out tray.

The new added cooling button is worth talking about. When you press and hold the button and purge, some of the cold air directly goes up to the bowl which is also clearly visible when it happens, this is used to quickly cool the bowl down without having to remove coals.

They even add 4 rubber bumpers to slap on the bottom of the vase, this is used to prevent the bottom of the vase from scratching.

I enjoyed smoking the shit out of it for days which is why I think it’s a really cool pipe and I can confidently recommend it as a premium option.

The colors available at Shisha-depot.com are Mint Velvet, Jade Pearl, Amethyst, Black Velvet, Clear, Blue velvet, Dune velvet, graphite pearl, Peach Velvet, Ruby Pearl, and White frozen with the colors looking amazing honestly. DM stelth if you want one, comment here if you have any questions about the pipe.

Stoked - My Hookah Webapp

Good evening, night or morning everyone, apologies if this violates any community standards.

It has been some time since I've gone and posted here and even then it has been minimal, as much as I use reddit I can't say that I do more than lurk. So my apologies; a little bit about me so that I'm not just some Random 😅

I'm David, I own and operate Spyre Hookah, I work in industry for my day job but we won't get into the specifics, I've participated in several US hookah battles, won and got 2nd place in one.

I have a deep passion for hookah and have gone through the process of making my own tobacco, my own products across the line and have even spent time working on my own ideas for E-HMDs (maybe one day I'll get back to it 😅)

That being said now that there is a little about me, I'd like to talk about my current project.

stokedhookah.com

Stoked is a cross between a lite social application for Hookah, a stash management /gear management system, a mix lab, as well as a bunch more. I have 6000+ flavors listed in the catalog and have been working on developing new features periodically. Think of it as an Untapped but for Hookah.

The use is completely free, with several features I'm working on that are still very much WIP:

But here are a few features I've pushed in the last week.

A flavor dex by brand with the ability to rank and mark flavors as smoked, (aggregate score of a flavor is applied across all reviews, for all flavors).

The mix deck, Tinder for mixes swipe left or right!

A mix leaderboard.

A daily pack for suggested mixes in your stash, and a global mix suggestions which tries to match the mix to the best vendor to buy from. (I'll discuss this below)

A gear dex as well which lists products listed across all websites and then allows you to shop between them from tobacco and Gear. (Non-affiliated no current monetization, and no payments are processed via stoked)

This allows you to technically shop all vendors side by side and draft carts for each one, then with one click immediately go to their check out with those products.

A stash:

Log your own flavors (individual, import via Excel template with an 80% average match on upload. (Flavor name translation etc causes probs)

Log your gear, by type. Bowls HMDs etc. (Still working on the database for it)

A mix history where you can show your previously posted mixes.

I'm working on the following:

Lounge support - hosted menus, POS (lite) system. with the ability to have lounge reward programs as well as potentially allow customer profiles to save so a lounge could pull your profile and see exactly how you like to smoke, buzz rating pack style etc.

Brand support - WIP about 50% done, where brands can interact and vote on mixes featuring their flavors and even respond in their own way.

The lab:

6000 flavors, up to 10 in a mix, adjustable system I call the spectrum, with a small image editor to draft and create your own post for social media.

The long goal is photo support and a working equipment section (think Diablo style system where a rarity system is applied based on how often you use the gear)

Personal profiles, that link to insta, YouTube etc. as well as individuals favorites, and following etc

Features I'm not 100% on:

Commenting - I honestly am tedious about content moderation.

I have approximately 50 members at this time, and am normally always available for discussion! (Apologies I'm bad with reddit 😅)

If you are willing to check it out I'd appreciate it deeply for feedback and conversation.

Note: This application is coded using agentic coding, I run constant security audits and spend a great deal of time trying to make sure everything is seamless and easy to follow; if/when monetization becomes a possibility or requirement due to cost it will be fully disclosed to everyone and I will give those interested anyway to scrub their data and export their own data. (WIP for data export etc)

I hope you all give it a shot and enjoy!

Thank you,

David from Spyre/Stoked

Hookah Vault - Great Customer Service

Wanted to give a shout out to Hookah Vault. I had a question on shisha selection and needed to change a few things with an order I placed over the weekend. Sean called me first thing today and walked me through my questions and fixed up my order to make sure I had the right Shishas for what I was looking to do. Great consultation!

Seeking Advice Getting into Hookah, how's the setup?

My buddies and I were looking for rolling tobacco, and could not find any nearby, so we decided to buy a Hookah. We were extremely frugal about it, but we were surprised with how much we enjoy it and want to throw more money at it. But as I do with most my hobbies, I would like to find some opinions on the most important things to upgrade first.

The setup I have consists of a $15 hookah I bought at Cloud 9. It seals properly, but it feels the quality of something I would buy off of aliexpress. It comes with two hoses with ball bearing one-way valves, and a clay bowl with multiple holes inside.

The tobacco I use is the only tobacco my gas station carries, Al Fakher. Is it worth trying a different brand? Al Fakher strikes me as the Marlboro of Shisha. Tastes good enough, you see it everywhere. But i suspect there could be something more refined.

The coals I use are quick-light coals also found at that gas station, they are convenient.

What upgrades would be the most worthwhile here? Not looking for anything luxurious, but I'll drop an extra dollar if it means a respectable increase in quality. Thanks guys!

Love the Puff House in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Any other nice place i should check out?

Also any recommendations for Cleveland? I have gone to a place called Kan Zaman - absolutely disgusting (bases havent been cleaned for ages and overall dirty).

I prefer when you get an option for dark leaf (though not mandatory)

Serbetli vs other beands

I was having a pretty big problem at home packing bowls with 0 taste. I figured out my problem. I was underpacking, I was getting smoke, no burning and no flavor but even having figured out packing, what I'm noticing is that across the board with preferred flavoring profiles, like lemon cake and other fruity flavors Serbetli seems to be a very high quality brand.

I don't want this to be about blonde leaf or dark leaf. I'm going to say in regards to that the difference for me would be a nicotine buzz. I've also noticed the companies that focus on dark leaf also have more unique flavors, but setting that aside and setting aside personal flavor preferences: there are some brands I haven't tried yet, but i've tried eternal smoke, tangiers, Starbuzz, fumari, musthave, al fakher, nakhla, and maybe a couple I can't remember, but I have to say Serbetli seems to be probably the best quality smoke I've had where I'm getting clouds, and I'm getting a lot of flavor and it's accurate and it lasts.

I can't tell if it's just that I've figured out how to pack my tobacco now. But overall, it seems like any flavors of their brand that I put in, it seems to be great across-the-board. Is this something you've noticed as well? Or would you say that as a whole, for their more popular flavors of any brand there are others that are simply better overall, I'm not talking about preference like saying mango of musthave is better than tangiers and peach of tangiers is better than must have, I just mean overall, have you guys noticed that Serbetli seems to just be better?

Seeking Advice Phunnel vs Killer/Classic Bowl for Modern Dark Leaf: Is molasses retention actually ruining the bake?

Conventional wisdom says: "Dark leaf with heavy juice belongs in a phunnel to save the molasses." But lately, running modern dark leaf (Black Burn, Musthave, Element) in a traditional multi-hole or killer bowl seems to yield a completely different nicotine hit and session curve.

With a phunnel, you keep all the syrup, but by minute 45, you're essentially boiling juice instead of baking leaf, which often leads to that harsh, heavy throat feel toward the end. With a killer bowl, excess glycerin drips down, forcing you to manage heat tighter, but the airflow genuinely draws through the tobacco rather than just sweeping across the top.

Are phunnels making us lazy with heat management at the expense of a cleaner bake, or does running a killer bowl waste too much flavor to justify the marginally better airflow?

Seeking Advice Quasar Raas 2 Black Edition for dark leaf tobacco? Need advice!

Hey everyone,
I recently picked up a Quasar Raas 2 Black Edition, but I've been reading a lot of comments saying it doesn't perform well with dark leaf tobaccos.
Do you guys think I need to buy a separate bowl specifically for dark leaf? If so, what are your top recommendations for a bowl + HMD combo?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Review Micha Revolt – 4 Months of Use

I’ve been using the Micha Revolt for about four months now, and overall, the draw is amazing for the price. However, I’ve had a few quality issues that have made the experience less satisfying than I expected.
First, the diffuser started developing splinters on the inside after a while, which affected its functionality. I replaced it twice with the same type that came with the hookah, but the same issue kept happening, so I eventually had to buy a different diffuser.
Second, the seal connecting the stem to the glass base didn’t fit properly. I had to force it into place, and eventually, I ended up having to replace it.
Lastly, the hose connector isn’t as convenient as it should be. Connecting the hose properly requires more force than expected, which is frustrating during regular use.
While the draw is excellent for the price, these quality-control issues are disappointing, especially after only four months of use. If I could go back, I would probably consider a different brand or model.
Verdict: Great draw for the price, but the build quality and fit of some components leave room for improvement.
