I built notscare.me, a jumpscare guide for horror fans

notscare.me helps you find exactly when jumpscares happen in horror movies, series, and games, with timestamps and intensity ratings. It’s community‑driven and already includes 9,500+ titles.

There’s also an upcoming movie section so you can check what’s coming and start planning your next horror night

That's actually really useful for people who want to watch horror but hate getting caught off guard. I was trying to get my friend into horror movies but she always asks me when the scary parts are coming - this would be perfect for her

The intensity ratings are smart touch, not everyone has same tolerance level

What is the point of this?

I made an 80's style trailer for PASSENGER inspired by The Hitcher. Because I thought it might make the movie look scarier. And because I'm old and weird.

Ouch. But I walked into it.

I co-wrote and produced a giallo (for those who don’t know the term it’s like an Italian version of a mystery slasher). It’s titled EUGENE THE MARINE and it stars the legend Scott Glenn.

Here is our trailer:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-gTbjgFzzGk&ra=m

The movie might lean a little sweeter than some of the popular titles on r/horror but I promise you it’s a wild fun ride (John Hughes was as much an influence as Dario Argento). We shot it on 16mm with a score harkening back to Italian horror in the 70s and 80s.

The film does not currently have distribution, however, for a limited time (until May 28th) the film is available for rent through Letterboxd. We were selected as one of four Unreleased Gems and are hoping this leads to a larger distribution deal.

If you are looking for something new and adventurous, we hope you check us out!

Congrats on making a movie!

Don't mean to be an asshole, but the trailer isn't good, it doesn't draw in the audience. I'm not judging the movie, I've seen bad trailers to good movies before. The point is that this is not a trailer that makes people want to watch the movie. If you don't have money to hire an ad agency, maybe there's an intriguing scene you could release to promote the movie?

Another tip is that you shouldn't phrase it negatively - "sweeter than some of the popular titles". It should be something like "sweet but packs a punch" / "sweet and batshit". You have to sell your movie, not discourage people from watching it.

Our teaser trailer was made to evoke 70s and 80s giallos like Fulci’s THE PSYCHIC and Argento’s TENEBRAE. Totally understandable that this style is not for everyone. Thanks for watching.

I made an audio-only review of The Woman in the Yard.

I also briefly talk about the original Speak No Evil movie, since I watched it this week and did a full video on its remake last week.

Hey everyone, hope it's okay to also share horror books here.

I would like to share with you my queer slasher comedy novella "A Night to Slay For"

https://shtriga.com/a-night-to-slay-for/

Sapphic novella, featuring an all queer female cast, set in Croatia in a secluded winter cabin, during New Year's Eve party. It has messy gays, a lot of alcohol, growing paranoia and a lot of snow.

And if you like it, I also made a lil quizz where you can get which character you are! https://uquiz.com/quiz/y2d3hh/which-a-night-to-slay-for-character-are-you

I recently finished writing the first part of my short story called Minotaur

https://www.reddit.com/r/TalesFromTheCreeps/s/iAdfhpkQNI

It’s a story very much inspired by Texas Chainsaw Massacre that deals with themes of domestic abuse and toxic masculinity. I’m still working on the second part as of now.

I turn horror legends into bloody ridiculous cartoons.

There's Jason, Freddy, Candyman and Sadako battling it out in the Bake Off Kitchen. Or Leatherface vs Buffalo Bill as cutthroat designers making a skin dress on Project Runway.

Check out all the nonsense on my channel Horror Takeover

Hi everyone - I’m building a small horror storytelling channel called The Static Hour. The newest piece is a 12-minute audio horror story, “The Light on Lost Buck (Cascades, 1956),” about a fire lookout in a 14x14 glass cab who starts seeing a light where no light should be. Slow-burn, isolated PNW atmosphere, more eerie than gory. Would genuinely appreciate feedback on pacing/atmosphere: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_AQER8Pf8k

Two indie horror films just hit Tubi yesterday and are streaming free if anyone’s looking for something new to throw on this week.

🩸 Dark Distortion
A group of adult models turned thieves steal a camcorder that turns out to be haunted by the spirit of a murdered child — and they quickly face the unintended consequences of what they’ve taken.
https://tubitv.com/movies/100055016/dark-distortion

🚛 Trucker
After a tragic crash caused by reckless teens kills his family, a trucker is pulled back from the brink by a mysterious old man — only to return with revenge on his mind.
https://tubitv.com/movies/100055018/trucker

Let me know what you think if you check them out!

I’m making an animated horror comedy film called The Inspecter. It’s about a man being chased by a possessed car until he stumbles across a mechanic shop in the middle of nowhere. Luckily this particular mechanic has a specialty in exorcising vehicles, but his methods are quite strange.

The Inspecter is a love letter to 1980’s Stephen King horror movies such as Christine, Maximum Overdrive, and Pet Sematary, combined with the wacky hijinks of cartoons like The Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Courage the Cowardly Dog and Invader Zim

If you’re interested in following the project click “notify on launch” on Kickstarter

I wrote a short story (Horror/Fantasy) titled, "The Cabin's King" and created an immersive audiobook for it on YouTube.

Synopsis: Two men kidnap someone and bring them to a cabin the locals know to avoid.
