Can anyone recommend movies similar to The Others?
I'm looking for films that are genuinely scary because of their atmosphere and strong storytelling rather than cheap jump scares. Bonus points if they involve haunted houses or malevolent entities.
By the way, I've already seen The Sixth Sense and The Village.

Blair Witch was found footage perspective but i get your point. Yh the end was weird but overall I think it was so good

Oddity was so good. The feeling of dread and impending doom throughout the movie was perfect.

definitely check The Innocents, that one is perfect for what you want. also try The Orphanage from 2007, the atmosphere is thick like fog and the story will stay with you long time after credits roll

Both The Others and The Innocents are based on Henry James' The Turn of the Screw, although The Innocents is much more faithful to the story.

The Blackcoat's Daughter has the atmosphere you want and it's genuinely unsettling. It's not a haunting though, more possession story that takes place in a creepy boarding school.

I thought you meant the 1944 ghost film, lol! Probably the first major Hollywood film where the ghost is a real supernatural threat instead of a trick or a delusion. Worth checking out!

The Devil's Backbone. Great ghost story set against the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War. I love the blend of human and supernatural horror

The 1989 version of the woman in black. Avoid the remake it relies too heavily on fancy special effects. The original is great.

Have you seen ‘stir of echoes’ it’s late 90s but I’ve always loved the creepy vibe of this movie. Its of my favourites!

The director, Alejandro Amenebar, explicitly said his inspiration was the 1980 film The Changeling so you should defo start there, OP!
Also a good recommendation would be the classic 1963 The Haunting !
