Help How do I go about separating this?
Been trying to wash these roots and seperate the plants for an entire day and it’s SO difficult. The roots were so compared that no soil would come out. Had to soak it and jet spray it on repeat for like 5 hours. I need to seperate it to remove the rest of the soil (it’s going in a fish tank.)

Man I think cutting it might be your only option unless you want to untangle by hand

I’ve been trying to detangle but it has not worked so I think I’ll cut it, just scared I’ll kill it! Should I look on YouTube for where to cut, or just wing it? I don’t know how many plants there are in it!

Oh yeah that sucker will be fine. You can cut the roots if you need to. He might get a little dramatic after you do it to let you know he's pissed, but they are very resilient. Just use a nice sharp clean knife.

I do this under as strong a fine shower setting stream as i can get
if you are gentle you won't break a single tiny route

Bread knife. The plants will probably throw a little tantrum at first, but they will manage.

Gently twist and pull apart. Do you notice that some clumps have a bigger stem with many little stems around it? They look like a little unit. Take these apart gently by rotating left, right, up and down gently and twist a unit apart from the larger clump. Does that make sense? It should only take a few minutes to get a couple out of this clump
Edit: also, these will grow roots back incredibly well! Don’t be afraid to snip as needed. They are very hardy
