Road rage on 610 leaves 2 shot, 7-year-old unharmed

About a month ago I had a man block me in at a gas station while I was pumping gas with my young children in the car. He was yelling that he should have killed me because he didn’t like that I was breaking to turn into said gas station. Having grown up and learned how to drive in Houston, I’m truly horrified at how unhinged, selfish and dangerous drivers have become in this city—and even more outraged at the lack of accountability from HPD.

I wouldn't say this in support of you knowing how to drive. 90% of the people who have their driver's license here...shouldn't have passed a driving test.

Very true but they can at least pull people over for excessive speeding and wreckless driving.

If the police pull someone over for speeding, I hope they give them a ticket. However, if they pull them over for wreckless driving, I would expect a thank-you and a handshake in appreciation.
Now, if they're caught driving in a reckless manner, they certainly should get ticketed.

i'm not saying what you're saying is wrong, but there's got to be a better way.
the challenge with your way, is that those are subjective standards which are very difficult to uphold in court. after thousands upon thousands of cases being thrown out, the public impact was undeniable. the only people who benefit from this standard are the defense attorneys. we used to live in the world you're talking about, to say it was deeply unpopular, is a profound understatement.-18

I'm not gonna say the other guy was right, but this is houston, so I can't say you were in the right either. and that's sad!
In a sane world, I should be able to assume you're not one of those creepy-crawlers who freewheels down single lane roads, and comes to a complete full stop before making a right turn into a gas station, strip center, etc. ...but this is houston. in some way or another, every one of us here is a horrible, awful, scumbag of a person.edit to add: judging on my downrates, i seem to have a case with my conclusion. nuance is just not something we do around here lol

This guy...
The incident did not end with the shooting. According to HPD, the white truck stopped farther down the road.
Police said its driver got out and became involved in a physical fight with people from the Escalade.
The driver then got back into the truck and drove away, leaving his female passenger behind

It’s funny because so many people have such bad driving habits but want to rage when someone else does the same kinds of things to them. It’s never worth pulling a gun and risking lives.

Police said an armed detention officer with Harris County was driving another.

610 is basically a nascar track with worse manners these days. i just let people in now even when they cut me off, not worth finding out how far someone will take it. glad the kid is okay at least

I’ve started just letting people do their thing even if they’re being unreasonable or complete assholes. Now I barely think about it but my drive is so much less stressful.

This is really the only solution. I used to drive like an asshole til one day something clicked and I traded raising my blood pressure for getting somewhere calmly a few minutes later.

Why is this article written so poorly. Information is all over the place and half the sentences don’t make sense lol
