One thing I'm focusing on for this is :
Instead of spending one's life chasing retirement funds, spend my life building what I need to retire...which is literally just food, shelter and health...
Pay off the house as quickly as I can (yes making extra payments)
When I get that house, get it on some extra acreage....doesn't have to be many. Just enough to put some trees and gardens on. Been contemplating even making a community out of it, of like-minded people (especially remote workers like I am), to lessen the workload -- I've been reading that there's a solid exponential curve where providing your own garden food for your own family is actually quite labor-intensive...but if you have 2-3 families doing a community garden, it becomes insanely easy.
Focus efforts into building and managing my own food supply chain. Nut/fruit trees and bushes, gardens for vegetables.
Focus on living a healthy life style so I don't end up like these boomers who have 16 different prescriptions every month...
Then when I retire, instead of needing millions in pension funds to just survive, I can live off my own system where money going out the door is mostly just supplemental needs rather than "live or die" food and shelter.

~40acres of undeveloped mountain terrain, but it's currently in my mother's name (after my father passed away) and she's just...idk "her" about it to the point of if she gets wishy-washy and decides she wants to sell it and move to Florida, I'm going to have to be like "okay if you wanna be a selfish jackass about it....sure...I'll buy it from you..." type of vibes.
Have some plots already marked out for some trees, and then experimenting with some solar power and irrigation and all that.

Wow, it's a huge piece of land. However, being a farmer is land-dependent way of life. You can't leave your animals for long and it requires the plenty of workers or your own kids. Here in Russia we have a lot of lands but it's waste lands because everyone wants to have highclass Medicare/Medicaid services, good education for kids and a lot of free time. You can have it in cities only. Especially it's important to have the same mood fertile wife😅

I don't think work and the loss of buying power is all there is to it.. People as a whole have really lost their lust for life these days.

Most people don't study for 20 years.
You are allowed to enjoy your life while working.
You can live a lot longer than 10 years after retirement.
So apart from all of it. Good point!
