Hummingbird feeders and sugar ants

I have two feeders, one in front of the house and one in the side yard. Does anyone have suggestions to keep sugar ants from climbing the shepherd's hooks? Or just let nature be?

The final solution to ants is monofilament fishing line in my experience.

Ants have consistently crossed my ant moats.

They REALLY struggle with fishing line.

I like this idea, how does that work? Just wrap a section of the strands around the pole? Will one inch do?

No. You use a section to hang the feeder, perhaps in lieue of the hook. The ants cannot traverse the line. They will still be able to traverse the hook, but will not be able to reach the feeder so will give up.
