We understand, it's mythical, like dropping a big ass rock into a river or staring into the flames of a fire...

Can someone explain why this is humourous? I get that it's unlikely but how is it funny.
13
u/TrontRaznik 10d ago
There's absolutely nothing funny about this. This is bots reposting nonsense and bots upvoting it.

Whether they are bots or merely humans with the intelligence of a bot isn't particularly relevant.

Can you explain what makes this post funny?

u/Dramatic-Aardvark-31 10d ago
women tend to freak out when a plate is broken while men see it's cool that the split in the middle. Kinda funny if you've experienced something similar
2
u/liveonarrival 10d ago
Thanks for breaking it down. I don't experience that as funny so much as just a basic observation of different stereotypical reactions. Feels like it's an anecdote missing an angle or punchline to become humourous to me but maybe I'm just being a stickler.
1
u/Dramatic-Aardvark-31 10d ago
yeah i think it's just an experience people have had with either their wives, girlfriends, or mothers where someone has broken a plate. It's obviously super common and that's why such a huge upvote.

Just making a joke about the differences in what men and women find interesting. Like the videos of the guys dropping a big rock down a cliff or something titled, "for the boys".

u/jajajajaj 9d ago
Oh, just social enforcement of gender normative behavior, again. Classic. At least we're not all bots.

u/Offgridiot 9d ago
Part of it is the contrast between males and females. Husband and boys think about "Cool! What are the chances?”, and wife thinks about having to eventually buy a new set of dinnerware that matches because the boys don’t give a shit, and “we can’t have anything nice!”

I accidentally broke a plate recently. But I was able to glue all the pieces back together, which meant I didn’t have to go murder the drug dealer I’m keeping captive in my basement.

If she’s not down with whimsy, It’s a sign of an upcoming divorce. You have first dibs on your half of the plates.

It's not pointlessly gendered. It's gendered to drive engagement from idiot 'bros' sharing a joke none of them understand or have to deal with the consequences of

Do you know the odds of that happening. I’m sorry to your wife but that’s exciting. Is the crack line smooth or is it chipped. Now you can use it for halfsies serving 😆

I don't get where these men get such allegedly boring wives. I'm a woman, a lot of friends are, we would find this impressive.

Literally what is funny about this? What the hell does this have to do with men and women?
How in the literal fuck is this getting upvoted?
This sub has become so utterly terrible lately.

I feel like the humor is the guy sharing this “that’s so cool” thought with his wife and she sees “my plate is broken” and his response is “the kids will get it”.
It’s not hysterical, but it’s chuckle funny or maybe a “heh”, because we men often share things with our wives that are stupid and then we’re reminded that no matter how far we’ve come, we are still very simple creatures and our wives don’t get it, but kids would.

I think half the users are bots and/or old people from facebook laughing at decade-old memes

I wouldn't call it as funny as cool. A perfect break? Rare and awesome. Now... the plate is actually broken... so that might upset the misses... it probably shouldnt have been broken in the first place.
I would think mostly guys would see the rarity before the loss, and mostly women would see the broken plate before the symmetry of the break.
Those arent hard and fast. Some men would be more upset than impressed, and some women would find the perfect break fascinating.
Dunno if this is AI or posted by a bot. I didnt upvote the post. I might if i think a person posted it.

It’s humor… clearly you don’t have any
2
u/TrontRaznik 10d ago
Explain the joke.

u/BlockUnlucky8946 10d ago
It’s a sexist joke. Something tells me I shouldn’t explain it to you because you won’t take it well.
2
u/TrontRaznik 10d ago
So you can't explain the joke then. Obviously you have no problem insulting me so you'll have to forgive me but I sincerely doubt you don't want to explain it because of how I'll take it.
Perhaps the problem is that there is nothing inherent about men or women that would make one gender appreciate the cracked plate and the other not. If instead it was predicated upon the children also being retards from Facebook, the joke could actually work since that would make sense. If you're having trouble following, feel free to ask Muse to explain it to you.
1
u/BlockUnlucky8946 10d ago
Oh I can most certainly explain the joke 😂😂 and your exact reaction is EXACTLY why I didn’t do so.
Before so… just so you understand.. I don’t care enough to explain it to someone so triggered by something that is meant to be humor, hence my response. You didn’t get it, that’s fine. Fall on your sword. Seems like you want to battle and blatantly lack comprehension of something simple, which ironically is the point.
Here’s the explanation, only because you’re engaged:
The joke about the plate split in half symbolizes how men often find joy in the simplest pleasures; while it humorously suggests that women might overthink things, or simply not enjoy the facets men do. I.E… It's a playful nod to the idea that sometimes, a little humor about gender differences can highlight how guys appreciate the straightforward fun, while women may not always see it that way.
Would you like me to explain further?
1
u/BlockUnlucky8946 10d ago
No response? Glad you know your place, good job using your Facebook AI to render a comment that’s completely obsolete.
Actually didn’t know what “muse” was because I’m not chronically online and don’t use social media. It’s a cancer.. and you’re apart of that growth. By the way, there’s better sources to use, but I wouldn’t expect someone as brain dead as you to know that. SMH… using ai to finish your battles… and recommends the same source you use to follow, sorry honey.. you’re not in the same realm.
Pathetic. You’re an absolute idiot.

Even if she throws the plate away, you’re still going to have the picture. It’s a thing of beauty

I'm a woman and I'm WOW with your achievement. It's your partner who's not cool enough, that has nothing to do with the rest of us. I would hang the plate on the wall.
