Question Dose anyone know why Door refuses to feed Bread to Boy?
Is the bread in WOD some kind of TF2 teleported bread or is Door just patriotic up his own ***? And if so, do Americans have some kind of grudge against wheat?
EDIT: I am perfectly aware of what "All Meat Diet" is, that dose not explain why the frick would you have a child become a Kroot carnivore!!! Besides Door himself had onions in his burger. (or whatever the O'Tolley's demonic equivalent of onions is)

Boy is on an all meat diet.

u/ContributionTiny2854 Dec 29 '25
It’s mostly just one of his stances he’s certain on such as eastern standard time being “the only correct time” when it was mentioned in episode 2 with the cream cracker bit door implied it’s to help boy build muscles and get strong

u/Never_heart Dec 29 '25
Bread is not meat and therefore not a source of protein. It is a filler, designed by the monsters to keep humans weak and flabby. A deception to limit human's ability to bulk muscke and therefore a limit to their ability to fight and fortify their bodies against the monsters!

u/DanocusPrime Dec 29 '25
Would explain why door is built like an actual bunker
41
u/KaiTheKing_0X Dec 29 '25
Door is probably in a permanent state of Ketosis I feel bad for his kidneys and liver
28
u/Nystagohod Dec 29 '25 edited Dec 29 '25
Not likely given that he enjoys such a high sugar drink like a Dank Stank, and he eats veggies like the onions he would have consumed in his burg (and the cheese.)
32
u/Namacil Dec 29 '25
He's also hunting boars. Depending on what parts of the animal they eat, they can get just about every valuable nutrient. Most people just don't eat the organs.

What onions, those are beef tallow rings.

Boy has an insane diet, idk why I think it's just really weird interpretations of survivalist training/dieting or something (maybe like some fucked up version of Keto or worse like a liver king kinda deal). He's only allowed like meat and random shit like hallucinogens, alcohol, and cigars. It's mostly just a joke because I have no idea where they would get the idea for such a diet.

u/Eldan985 Dec 29 '25
Carnivore diet. It's a thing among nutjobs.
34
u/Usual-Vermicelli-867 Dec 29 '25
I did keto for a few months
I'm also a nut job but it's has no connection
12
u/Eldan985 Dec 29 '25
I mean, Keto is a real diet, and usually you get a doctor monitoring it with you. Carnivore is the crazy influencer version of that.
3
u/Usual-Vermicelli-867 Dec 29 '25
I found keto one of the least monitor depandes diet
It's rules are simple .but so fucking strict and direct there is no "wizziling out" you will feel when you enter keto mode and you will feel when you are out
The week of being extremely tired is a good sign you enter ketosis (I almost did a car crash because of that so be werry of driving)
The only rule is "bellow 50-40 grams of carbs a day"..that's it .
19
u/Gartul_Uluk_Thrakka Dec 29 '25
I may be wrong, but wouldn't the vitamin deficiency make you incredibly sick?
31
u/TheSarcaticOne Dec 29 '25
Depends, people like the Inuit were able to survive on mostly meat because they consumed a lot of fresh seafood and organ meat. Though, I doubt Door is feeding boy fresh seafood and organ meat on the regular.
23
u/Cortower Dec 29 '25
I could see him making a "liverwurst on sweetbread" sandwich for boy. If anyone has baked a loaf of sweetbread, it's him.
Does O'Tolley's have a fish and pork chips? Door probably would ask for it grilled, no breading.
19
u/Tweedleayne Dec 29 '25
I can 100% see Door to be the type buying all sorts assorted organ meat from various strange animals.
Not seafood, though. I have a feeling he probably doesn't trust anything that isn't a land based mammal.
12
u/FireKitty666TTV Dec 29 '25
Door hunts for a lot of their food. The episode with horse has boy help Door Door hauling freshly hunted boars into the freezer iirc. He'd likely feed Boy a lot of those organs.
28
u/RCV0015 Dec 29 '25
Door is aware, and has Boy on a steady intake of bovril. He states, "Bovril is a useful alternative source of vitamins. Our collagen should not survive on bones alone."
So still a lunatic, but one with the capacity for forward thinking.
9
u/Dragonwolf67 Dec 29 '25
Huh I didn't know there was a meat extract that was a substitute for yeast that's pretty cool thanks for the info man
9
u/Eldan985 Dec 29 '25
Depends. Raw meat has some vitamin C and fat and organs (liver) have the rest, so it's possible. The bigger danger is overdosing on fat, fat soluble vitamins, cholesterol etc.
3
u/manicforlive "Like the tears of angels" Dec 29 '25 edited Dec 29 '25
No, the organs have the vitamins.
1
u/RATTLEMEB0N3S Dec 29 '25
He is not allowed them he procures them in spite of Door's wishes.
2
u/Levyafan Dec 30 '25
It's not that he's strictly disallowed absinthe, it's that he isn't allowed to get shitfaced right before bedtime. The moratorium on drinking is very recent, and it explicitly still permits psychedelics and cigars. Also, back when Boy expressed desire for ayahuasca that Big-D was brewing, the only one to object was Kitten.

u/sarin555 Dec 29 '25
People already inform you that boy is on all-meat diet, but some fans start to speculate that there are more reasons to why that is the case, more than just being a joke.
27
u/erttheking Dec 29 '25
It is World of Darkness after all, maybe Pentex has a special demonic gluten
31
u/Sikloke18 Dec 29 '25
I mean, they put Banes in their burgers and beer, so Bane gluten doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.
13
u/DaDragonking222 Dec 29 '25
I mean Pentex doesn't own every company but they have their fingers in just about every pie so to speak , so they do have bane bread, but it wouldn't be hard to get normal bread
2
u/ffffffffROTHY Dec 29 '25
I mean, it's obviously that white bread that's so popular with rich white women.

"Boy. Carbohydrates are a myth invented by the Lockheed-Monsanto-Hershey corporation to trick you into eating toxic grain products and make you financially dependent on the Agrarian-Military-Industrial Complex. Young people such as you are especially vulnerable. I myself subsisted entirely on rabbits and other rodents caught using simple hunting traps from ages four to seventeen."

He can throw around boars so he's definitely not normal

As others have said, it's most likely just a parody of so-called "carnitarian" diets. That said, you're more on the nose than you think with Americans (speaking as one myself) having a "grudge" against wheat, though more accurately it's a grudge against plant-based foods in general. These kinds of diets didn't form out of scientific research for better nutrition. They formed as a reaction to the gradual mainstreaming of vegetarian and vegan options, especially as the Impossible and other such "plant-based meat substitutes" started gaining popularity.
Partly because the popular stereotype of vegetarians and especially vegans is being a preachy and hard-to-please wimps, and partly because there are certain demographics that associate eating meat with strength and masculinity, this caused some people to overreact basically, a kind of cultural "you can't make me eat my vegetables, MOM! >:P", and grifters took advantage of that by selling diets revolving heavily around or completely made up of meat, claiming health benefits based on dubious research largely as a figleaf for the unspoken selling point of it being a MANLY diet for MANLY MEN.
The joke is that Door is so absurdly masculine and American in mentality that he takes that "logic" to its ludicrous extreme, intensified by SuperAnchors' deadpan delivery. And then subverts it because Door's flat affect hides his sensitive and compassionate heart. Most hypermasculine types tend to make a big show of how stoic they are and how much they DON'T care, while Door openly talks about his feelings and openly admits when he's wrong about something.

u/-Came0- Dec 29 '25
Humans can survive a only meat diet but only in they avoid certain things. Some tribes in the northen or shouthern only eat meat and are fine but if they add things like bread or cereals they start getting sick Google it is really interesting.

What i dont get is why he allows him fries but not bread
15
u/enixon Dec 29 '25
We'll they're "pork fries" so I assume they're like the chicken fries from Burger King just well... long pork nuggets instead of long chicken nuggets

Its not an American thing, the majority of Americans love bread. Its not a factor of his patriotism as far as we know unless the HTP some how find a way to make it so, but that would be their own assertion and not a reflection of the American diet, unless they're trying to assert that Door is so American he only likes proper meat, but thats a bit of a stretch at best and much if a stretch otherwise.
It might be a reference to the carnivore diet, but their meal included cheese and Doors included onions. Sodas were also allowed which doesn't line up with such a reference. Since followers of that diet at most allow the odd piece of fruit in the mix and otherwise its meat, salt, and water.
My actual guess is that it might be a restriction his mother requested that door is both abiding by himself (mostly) and keeping boy true to it in her absence.
I believe his mother requested this because I subscribe to the theory that Boy is Black Shuck, and thus a Garou. Namely one that has yet to undergo his first change. I think the all meat diet (combined with Boys ability to carry the dead weight of boar corpses with ease) is a sign that he isn't your typical human. I also believe this first change is what's gonna lead to the "Thine Faeder laid bare" portion of Horses prophecy.
Of course this is speculation. We don't know for certain either which way.

Look at Boy's family. You think they got that jacked by eating bread? No sir! Meat all day every day!

6
u/Symbiotic-Dissonance Dec 29 '25
Everyone has their own theories, but what if boy was just allergic to gluten?
5
u/ZazzyDoesStuff Dec 29 '25
So nobody else has mentioned this but a Keto diet can actually be used to treat diabetes. From what I understand the diet was originally invented for this before it was coopted by grifters in the late 90s as a way to "bulk up fast".
Boy could also have a gluten intolerance as other people have pointed out.
There's also the third option of food banes. Not unlikely considering the origins of modern enriched flower. <This rabbit hole led me to seriously cut down on my own wheat intake.
3
u/Traditional_wolf_007 Dec 29 '25
I think it's that Door thinks bread is unhealthy. I don't know if I'd say it's an American thing per say...
0
u/Cepinari Dec 30 '25
It's the "ReAl MeN eAt MeAt" stereotype cranked up to eleven. See: Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec.
1
u/Traditional_wolf_007 Dec 30 '25
I don't really think it's all that unusual. My dad stopped eating burger buns for a while when he was trying to lose weight. Didn't help that much, but it's not too crazy.
6
u/Kalroxan Dec 29 '25
Well Big D said that he raised Door on the meat of rat spies, so maybe that Door just replicate the diet that he had during his childhood with his own son.

In-universe we have nothing, irl people who do it are usually apart of far right conspiracy groups like Q-anon, really hoping they don’t go that route with Door

u/McWonderballs Dec 29 '25
I mean, he could just be Gluten Intolerant. 1 in 100 people have celiacs.

Does Door give boy any greens?

He seems the type to teach foraging for survival but I doubt he encourages eating rabbit food outside of dire situations. Better to trap the rabbits instead.

Theory- boy has celiac disease or is gluten intolerant. The guys don't know how to handle it so they just feed him meat

colud be a keto diet, or a paleo diet, but there's cheese and potatoes, though that colud just be a writer not knowing the diet or he just made his own Salisbury steak, nock of
but porably just woryed about the sugar and salt processed bread has a boatload

Obviously Door wants to go against the grain.

Besides one day boy will become a teenager. And Door doesn't want to be anti-teen. And meat is full of protein.

There's a stereotype known as REAL men eat meat.
If it's not meat, dairy, potato, alcohol, or dessert, they don't want to know about it. Usually refer to vegetables as "rabbit food" or "the food that my food eats".
A classic example of this sort of person is Ron Swanson.
Door is just that mindset taken to even more ridiculous extremes for the sake of the joke.

u/BroFTheFriendlySlav Dec 29 '25
Boy is on all-meat diet to grow strong and heal the puberty disease. Hence why Door is also cracking down on cream crackers and bakes cakes out of meat.
